  1. The battery on my 400h is under the bonnet (hood) so VRLA is Ok to fit. The 450h in in the cabin under the back seat I think so I would not fit a lead acid battery that can leak.
  2. Hi all When and in which models did they fit traffic aware (adaptive) cruise control, looking ahead to my next upgrade. Cheers.
  3. They are not a normal lead acid battery, they are like a dry cell that you put in a mobility scooter only bigger. So they will be more expensive.
  4. Did mine myself earlier this year, I got them from e-bay item no 122640742503 £150 Not a job I'd recommend going to Lexus for as the workshop manuals first instruction is "Remove the Engine and gearbox". It's not an easy job for a diyer as there is a sod of a long bolt to get out on the drivers side engine mount, but it is possible.
  5. I don't think there is a a connector on UK spec cars. Here is an old Westfalia loom instructions, they were OEM tow bars for Lexus. RX Towbar electrics.pdf
  6. Toyota/Lexus have lost the plot with innovation. I initially thought that when the plug-in Prius was produced that more plugins would follow but no. Just imagine a Lexus RX450 plugin doing 30 to 40 miles on all electric and 50 mpg equivalent. Not one for the complete fleet of L/T cars apart from Prius, has been offered as a plugin, instead they are trying to spin this "self charging no need to plug in" silliness. If they don't start drinking the coolade soon they will find themselves going the way of the DoDo.
  7. I've done this job on my 400h, the only problem I came across was a seized sliding pin which needed a lot of heat to free it. Leave the caliper hydraulically connected and hang it up out of the way withe a cable tie or similar. Then remove the carrier bracket and re-grease the pins and get new rubber boots too. Before trying to remove the rotor you'll need to back off the handbrake by positioning the hole in the disc rotor at the bottom and using a flat blade screwdriver back off the adjuster. As for the hybrid system if the ignition is off the the HV battery is disconnected from the vehicle so is not a concern.
  8. Cost me £150 for arms and ball joints from eBay.
  9. Not all batteries will fit. If it has a sill on the bottom then it wont fit. The bottom has to be flush to fit into the recess. The one on my 400h when I got it was a Bosch S4-021 45 ah the same as fitted.
  10. Done this job on my 400h and it's not easy but if you look in the online maintenance manual lexus copy the first line is remove the engine and transmission!!!!! I just managed to do it with a great deal of difficulty by jacking up the engine, but it wasn't easy at all.
  11. I've found that if I leave the OBD dongle plugged into the socket overnight, when I start the car I get all sorts of messages up and light on the dash that have to be reset with my scanner, It has even stopped the cruise control from working. I have several dongles and it does it with all of them.
  12. Why on earth do you want one, you can't control the engine with the throttle. I use Hybrid Assistant via an OBD dongle it gives you far more info than just a rev counter. Try it out it's a free android app.
  13. If you look in the workshop manuals for the procedure to do this job the first line say remove engine and transmission. Having done mine recently I can understand why, I just about managed to remove the bottom engine supports by jacking up the engine on either side, and after much wrenching and cursing I managed to do it. The 300 may be different though as the engine bay will be less cluttered than the 400h.
  14. Try here https://workshop-manuals.com/lexus/rx_330_awd/v6-3.3l_(3mz-fe)/relays_and_modules/relays_and_modules_accessories_and_optional_equipment/alarm_module_(vehicle_antitheft)/component_information/locations/
  15. You can check them by reaching underneath and trying to waggle them, if they have dropped down onto the exhaust then it will be obvious. I reversed onto car ramps to do mine as you have to drop the exhaust down to gain access. There is one over the back box and one over the middle box to.
  16. Both of the flimsy exhaust shields on my 400h came loose and rattled like mad. check them both and refit with penny washers and stainless nuts and bolts.
  17. Just bought one for my 400h. Be careful what you buy as some that say they will fit wont because of the battery base having a lip on it. got mine from these guys. https://advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/ it's a Bosch silver s4021, £67 delivered, cheaper ones are available.
  18. As sorcerer says, I never switch mine off also, apparently it keeps the seals lubricated when running and they can dry out if not run for some time.
  19. Cheers, I looked through the pdf but missed the text about ACC etc. Got it now.
  20. Hi all At what model year did the RX get adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist?
  21. I've got a VGate Bluetooth OBD dongle for Hybrid Assistant but I find it a bit of a faf using it because if you leave it plugged in and turn the car off, when you next start the car it throws up errors e.g. Check Hybrid System with warning lights and all. These reset using a handheld scanner. So each time you have to remove the dongle when you stop the car. Hybrid Assistant is a great program though.
  22. Just ordered a pair so will see what they are like. I know the camera system is OK as the wife's Yaris is brilliant in the dark, the reverse lights are more powerful and not shielded. I once saw a post from a Lexus guy who said they were meant to be a reverse warning light and not to shine your pathway.
  23. No spring assisters and I've not checked the nose weight All I know is that it tows OK up to 60 70 mph. I normally tow at an indicated 60 on cruise control. It's quite solid at that speed. I've heard it said that the 80 Kg limit is because of the strain on the rear motor, I don't see it though, rear suspension yes but the motor doesn't bear any weight just torque when needed which is not very often on a motorway. I stand to be corrected though.
  24. I use the Bosch aero type and they look good and work well.
  25. On my system you press DEST the Address and at the bottom of the left column is "input postal code" but you can't enter a full code, just the first 4 digits. The built in system on the 400h is rubbish, it's OK for a moving map and knowing when streets are coming up but trying to find a place is like pulling teeth. Don't get me on the voice commands either, it's worse that the satnav.
