  1. PF Jones do a fitting service at the factory in Manchester or at your home, mine was done at home.
  2. Got mine from PF Jones, was about that price fitted on my drive.
  3. All Toyota Lexus hybrid vehicles do not have a mechanical reverse gear, the direction of the electric motor or motors are reversed to go backwards. None of the CVT gearboxes use belts and variable cone pulleys to change the gear ratios. The front transmission unit has two electric motors, one directly connected to the drive wheels and another connected to an epicyclic gear train and has two functions, 1 to start the engine and 2 to vary the ratio of power between the engine and electric motor. There are some very good videos on YouTube which explain this better than I can.
  4. I don't know what you want to customise but do you have these buttons on your stearing wheel? if you do, look at page 617 item 6.2 in your owners manual. If you press and hold the menu button while stopped you may get to the info you require.
  5. But the 12v battery does not start the engine so Cold Cranking Amps is irrelevant. It just has to have a sufficient AmpHour rating.
  6. At the moment solar panels can not produce enough power to charge a large vehicle battery. The amount of energy from the sun at the equator is 1Kw per Square metre and the most efficient panels are less than 30% efficiency so you would need 300 sqm of panels to charge a battery in about 1 hr.
  7. I wasn't talking about a small 12V starter battery, they have quite big Lion batteries too. to assist the fuel cell.
  8. Even fuel cell cars need a battery like a hybrid to assist the fuel cell to get going. Hydrogen should be used for heavy haulage, busses and ferries. Batteries will improve to get the charge time down to an acceptable period.
  9. Me thinks you'd have to wait a long time for that! My nearest fill up station is over 100 miles away.
  10. The man's got more money than sense, if I had that much spare cash to splash on my last motor I'd get a Tesla model 3 long range. Petrol and diesel cars will soon be as dead as the dodo.
  11. I think the Hybrid Assistant app has a TPM assist part that will tell you the pressures.
  12. I've hooked up a 12W solar panel to my battery to keep it topped up.
  13. I had a flat in France last year, I found the jack more than adequate to lift the car to get the space saver on.
  14. If tou are going to stay in for a long period, the AA and others sell a small solar panel that you can plug into the OBD socket which connects directly to your battery. That will trickle charge it even during none sunny days.
  15. If Lexus don't advise it why do they put a complete section in the hand book about towing and also put a hefty 2000 kg limit on towing capacity. My be he was anti caravan and talking out of his rear end or am I being cruel. I have no trouble towing what so ever, yes the inverter and electric motors get a bit warmer (I have Hybrid assistant) but not beyond limits.
  16. The tow bar for the 400h is a Westfalia make sold by Lexus and comes with a wiring loom which has to be spliced into the car electrics. This has a bypass unit for the lights etc. I nearly fitted one to mine but it was expensive. I had no choice with my 450h as the only one that would fit was a Westfalia because of the air suspension and that also had a bypass unit.
  17. I tow a 1700 kg caravan with no problems, also the 400h I had for 5 years was also a good tow car. Don't expect good mpg though, the 400h was about 18 mpg and the 450 is about 22 mpg.
  18. My 2011 has a 6 disc changer but I don't use it. I prefer to have my whole collection on a USB stick and play from that via the connector in the central storage compartment.
  19. When I had a 400H road tax was £480 and it averaged about 27mpg. My 450H is £150 tax and averages 30 mpg.
  20. This is normal for the 400H and the 450H too. It only uses the rear drive when needed due to loss of traction, but uses it for regen all the time when braking.
  21. You could go for a 400H, less tax and better economy than a 300. Just check that the cam belt has been done if over 100,000 miles.
  22. From memory my 400h wasn't 1 a week. but if you have the lights on it does wash the headlights too. I think it holds just short of a gallon (5L).
  23. It was a Sunbeam Rapier, I had one a long time ago.
