  1. I replaced the battery on my 400h at my local tyre and battery place, and although the body of the battery was the same size it was stepped at the bottom so would not fit the tray. They finally got one and said it was for a Toyota MR2. Don't forget you'll have to reset the power windows and roof, and if you have a reverse camera you'll need to reset the moving yellow marker lines too.
  2. Hi all Thanks for the tips they came in usefull. Yes the fronts were a breeze, took an hour and a half to do both. The sliding pins are a different design to the rear and were free with the dust boots intact so left weel alone. I don't know how they'll last, I got the from my local euro parts depot all Pagid make, so we'll see what the future holds. Pete
  3. Hi all Just replaced the discs and pads on the rear of the RX, this car has a full service history and passed its MOT in January. I found three of the four sliding pins were siezed so how were they working! One was so bad I had to call on the assistance of my local garage who managet ot free it off. It's all back together now but they will need replacing VERY soon. How come now one tells you that there is an adjuster foe the hand brake, I tried all sorts of things to look through the small hole to find it but not being a keyhole surgeon fail on the first side so it took a long time to remove the drum/disc. The second one was a breeze. Someone on here mentioned a star adjuster but failed to point out that you need to set the hole just past the 6 o'clock position to the rear of the car to be in line. We'll se what happens when I change the fronts tomorrow!!!! Cheers every one.
  4. Have you looked up above the glove box when it's open, there is a fuse box there on my 400h
  5. Have you tried adjusting the sensitivty setting ring on the wiper switch arm, it's the one with the + & - on it. I think there are 4 settings.
  6. Going for Morecambe to Manchester I kept the speed to 50 and managed 20 MPG towing my van. I did get very bored at that speed!!
  7. The range on the transmitter is quite something, mine will lock and unlok fro 100m. (yards to the old folks) lol.
  8. Just driven to Bolton, about 40 miles on the motorway and set the cruise to a GPS 70mph and the average was 28.2.
  9. I|was towing at 55 to 60 on the motorway an what ever I could safely do on the A roads in Derbyshire!!
  10. I've read somewhere that the fuel system is fully sealed and that the vapours are fed back to the tank to condense so building up a pressure in it. Yes mine does it too.
  11. Just got back from a 350 mile trip from home to Bakewell 200 miles of which was towing a 1.7 Te caravan. I was hoping for a little better fuel economy that 21.1 MPG (I rest the trip comp before starting). THe car towed very comfortably and easily coped with what Derbyshire could throw at it but I was expectime a little better than 21.1. Any thought about what you get while towing etc.
  12. Colour code is 202 which is Black Onyx and yes it matches.
  13. Try Honest John for customer fuel figures.
  14. When I got my 400h I found a Lexus touch up kit (two small bottles) the colour on it just said black!
  15. From the pictures it has: - ML audio Reverse camera (no sensors req'd) Memory seats ELectrically adjustable sreering wheel GPS satnav (7" screen) ------------ Who needs a sun roof if it has air con! It looks like the SE-L spec with a different badge! For the price I'd negotiate as much as you can from the dealer as you could pick up a 450H for about the same price admittedly probably with highr milage.
  16. Developed a rattle from the rear of the car! the mind starts to think the worst i.e rear motor problems. No it's a flimsy bit of aluminium heat shield there to protect the spare from the heat from the exhaust!!! It was attached by one bolt and resting on the exhaust. I thought I could repai theis with some new bolts and a couple of penny washers but NO the three bolts are all siezed solid. You wouls think that for a car of this refinement Lexus could do something better than use captive bolts so when you try to undo them you would break the mounting first!!!
  17. This is a load of codswollop, a 13 pin socket can be fitted to any vehicle the year is irrelavant, in fact if you buy a modern caravan it will have a 13 pin plug as standard so you have no option but fit one. I fitted my electrics with a 13 pin socket, admittedly I used a bypass relay to power the caravan lights which involved running three wires fron the 12 volt battery to the rear of the car one for the bypass unit and two the the split charge solid state relay, works perfectly with the caravan and the small trailer I have. The oly thing you have to watch out for is that if all the circuits of a 13 pin system are not working the this is an MOT failure, whereas with two 7 pin sockets only the main lighting circuits have to work.
  18. No you're not missing anything, Westfalia supply the towbar and the electrics kit for the 400 and the 450, they are identical to the ones supplied by Lexus.
  19. If it does have it I'm sure it will work off the differential speed of the wheels on the same axel as measured by the ABS sensors so if they quated you for a valve change they should have done it.
  20. I have had several discoveries, 200 and 300 TDIs, these had a centre diff but if traction was lost to one wheel then it was lost to all as the diffs were not LSD. The centre diff was lockable which meant that the engine output was applied to both front and rear axels equally so traction was taken up by the non spinning wheels on the other axel. My Jeep Grand Cherokee had LSDs on both front and rear axels with a non lockable centre diff so if wheel slip happened then the other wheels could keep driving. Used this occasionally to haul me and the carravan off a very wet field.
  21. It asked me to do just that after I put a new battery on the car, the camera worked but the moving guides did not appear until I did.
  22. I usually use the local hand car wash as I also dont like the mechanical verieties. Failing that I have a soft window brush, the one where you can attach a hose to it.
  23. A local tyre place called Westgate Tyres in Morecambe, a bit of a way for you to go Phil
  24. Don't forget if you have a reverse camera you'll need to turn the wheel from lock to lock to set the guide lines. Also what is the ISC, sounds drastic throttleing up when in drive and not moving. Will this not overcook the transmission?
  25. Put new fronts on mine and had it track aligned on a flashy computer laser system, steady as a rock now!
