  1. I've used Pirelli Scorpion M&S tyres on a BMW X3. They are 'All Season' tyres. Contrary to your ^^ statement I found them fantastic in the snow. Actually went out purposely finding untreated lanes in the Peaks with snow to play in. The tyres performed brilliantly. Come summer they were fine and wore well - lasting over 30k miles. I saw no compromise at all in their use in 3 years of running them (2 bad snow/ ice Peaks winters). I pick a RX450h up in the next few days which has Dunlops on and will be putting the Pirelli M&S tyres on that when they want changing. If anything like as good as when on the X3 they will make a perfect all year tyre without the need for seperate winters. I am sure you didn't, but then you did not compare them directly with summer tyres in the summer and winter tyres during the winter snow, they ARE a compromise regardless, of course they work, just not as well as a dedicated tyre. There is no debate about this, its a fact. Yes I did, as we ran summer/winter and All Seasons, but what the point bothering trying to share experiences with dramatic pedantic posters like you? Wish I hadn't bothered and I certainly wont again.
  2. I always change in fours. I use Conti TS Winter tyres on a front wheel drive car and they are excellent. No issues with traction in the snow. (Live in the Peaks so they have been well tested). Only downside is as they are best run approx. Nov - March when road temps and conditions suit them I had to source a second set of alloys. Didn't mind though as I preferred that to tyre swapping on one set of rims. I've used Pirelli Scorpion M&S tyres on a BMW X3. They are 'All Season' tyres. 3. It will depend on who your underwriter is. When we used to have 'track bikes' we had them insured. They were heavily modified, but we just made sure we went with an underwriter who was ok with it and listed the lot. Didn't cost us anymore and the only stipulation was that in the event of a claim any aftermarket parts (Eg Full titanium exhaust system) would be replaced with OE system. We were fine with this. I was sceptical making the initial call, but it turned out to be well worth it as I got full cover without any hassle or any premium bump. The other side of the coin caught a mate out. He kept schtum about the race exhaust on his Ducati. Had an accident on the road where excess speed was considered a factor and found his insurance company didn't want to pay out when they were told the bike had performance mods.
  4. Interesting seeing as the offer was supposed to close on the 31st Dec. with any luck I may be able to get it. Or maybe look at another make in 3 years time.. Lexus have extended the offer. I don't know the reasons and don't want to speculate without firm facts, but it's on the Lexus website so is country wide. The dealer (Lexus Stockport) did specifically tell me the offer was scheduled to end in December but had been 'rolled over'.
  5. The extended warranty 2 for one deal has been extended and is still being sold at dealers. It hasn't expired. I've just bought a Lexus and have been offered it.
  6. Cheers Jonathan. It will be a family bus so my missus will be driving it but she's not too keen on that as she thinks its too big. Hopefully the sensors/reversing camera and big mirrors will make it easier than she anticipates. She is used to her little 2 door convertible so the RX will seem like a monster truck! :D
  7. Thanks for the replies. Very nice of you. :zee: I'm off to the dealer later this morning to start the paperwork (transfer of private plate). I'm waiting until that is done before collecting the car so it will probably be a couple of weeks. Have a feeling it will feel much longer than that! :D
  8. Hi all. After much deliberation over the last couple of months I've just (yesterday) bought a RX450h from my local dealer. I won't have it for a week or two as I've a part ex to sort with them, number plate swap etc. but deposit is paid and car will soon be mine. I've already been looking through the forums, but thought I'd pop in here to say hello.
