  1. Hi All I have Thinkware dash cams installed in my NX and CT F Sports. I bought both of mine from the RAC shop and they were professionally installed They are quite expensive and work well but did have some teething problems that were sorted. What I do like about them is the speed camera alert (main reason for purchase) as a lady announces there is a speed / red light/ average speed camera and also tells you what the speed limit is. Yes another nagging voice but its worth it(?) and you can turn her off - unlike you know who.............🤐
  2. Hi Everyone Having been an RX owner, and currently a CT and NX owner, I have seen countless pages and articles regarding cat theft on these wonderful and informative forums. Touch wood and whistle, I haven't had any problems, but do understand and sympathise with Lexus owners who are vulnerable to this problem because of their geographical location to scroats!!!!! I appreciate everyone seems to be looking at prevention of theft on current vehicles, but is it worth looking to the future, also, and perhaps petitioning Toyota / Lexus - and indeed most other motor manufacturers - to ensure they DESIGN out the problem by physically locating the Cat(s) closer to the manifold, for instance. I know this wont help current vehicles and also appreciate that all electric is the way to go, but that will be along time coming. So for the time being...........................????
  3. Hi Again Clean car photo attached. If you are changing from 16" to 17" you may find the ride a little more harsh. My CT had 17's as standard and it is a very firm ride as well as quite noisy, but I think the F Sport has a firmer suspension anyway. Hope this all helps Regards
  4. Hi Dan I chose the F800 Pro as it had the ability to install a rear view cam as well as using parking mode that would shut down if battery power was low (lengthy parking time). I had it fitted by the RAC suppler who did a really good job at hiding all the cables and wiring in to parking mode. They gave me a demonstration once installed Only downside was I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment Link to RAC Shop below https://www.racshop.co.uk/thinkware-f800-dash-cam.html Hope this helps Ray
  5. Hi Stompe I have a 2013 CT F Sport and had a satnav upgrade about 18 months ago. Cost me, if memory serves, £180 and no, it didn't include speed cameras. Waste of money as it didn't even include a local new road that had been in existence about 2 years prior to the upgrade!!!! Even the spanking new £49K RX Lexus loaned to me, as they buggered up the download, didn't show the new road either. In the the end, I bought a Thinkware dash cam which includes speed cameras, lane change, distance to car in front warning etc. What I liked most of all was that the lady announces there is a speed camera ahead and what the designated speed is. I appreciate some woman nagging every few miles may be a PITA but at least it makes you aware I purchased from the RAC as a member and it cost me just over 300 quid installed. Doesnt have a screen but works on wi fi to your phone. Hope this info is of some use. Regards
  6. Hi

Don't know if this helps, but I have a similar issue which happens from time to time.

I think it is caused by my ignition key.

A while back I bought a folding key fob blank on eeeeeeeebay. Transferred the remote locking bit from the original key and had the mechanical key cut.

It all works fine but on occasion, if I insert the key into the ignition too quickly I cannot get the ready light to come on. What I do to remedy, is to remove the key and re-insert in a slow deliberate manner and turn the key to start and hold it there for a couple of seconds. This has worked for the past few years. I think the problem for me is that the key length is not exactly the same as the original.

If you have another genuine key  maybe you could try that.

Hope this is understandable and helps

  7. Hi All. Thanks for your interest in this subject. Comedian - Thanks for the info and yes I agree that prevention is better than cure and no, I dont want to smell like an old mothball The pest controller I use is very reliable and is going to put some bait boxes down F.O.C. and monitor to comply with the Britsh Pest Control Association Malc - Reference the re-housing to a Rolls Royce Engine Bay, I live just 4 miles from the factory, so I wonder if can smuggle some humanely captured "protected species" past RR security for them to start a new life in a new Rolls Royce Phantom. Lastly, Big Rat. - being a county boy, I have the means the motive and the wherewith all, but I also have a wife who has the Bambi syndrome if you know what I mean! Regards Ray
  8. Hi Farqui Just a quick update. Yes I do live in the countryside and the squirrel has a reprieve! I have just spoken with our local pest controller when he came in to work today, and he tells me that its not a squirrel but more likely to be a field or harvest mouse, would you believe??. All I can say is I don't want to meet a mouse who can carry bunch of conkers the size of a golf ball up my manifold! It also worries me more, now, just where he / she got fibrous material from, as a mouse is a lot smaller than a squirrel ............ but then again looking at the conkers, maybe he isn't!!! Next move is bait boxes and traps required around the garage and car. Ray
  9. Good evening all. Just to prove that regular checks under the bonnet are required, please see the attached photo! It seems that our local squirrel was setting up home in a Luxury Auto Hotel. This is a photo of my wife's CT200 F Sport She only uses it once or twice a week, so I decided to take it to work this morning and thought I would check the fluids at lunchtime. To my surprise I found a nest with about 20 conkers all nestled in the engine cover oil filler recess. It had even gnawed the top of the oil filler cap! What worries me most is where did the darn rodent get the white fibrous material from.......? After cleaning out the engine compartment of roasted nuts, my next task is to forcibly evict the squirrel (without the wife finding out!) Regards Ray
  10. Hi Sorcerer. Thank you for a very intereting post and photos. I have been looking on ebay and there is a couple of companies in the UK who sell front spotlight replacements that have LED Halo on the surround which look quite good but I have to admit that your addition looks more simplistic to install. I had a peek under the bonnet today and after removing the decour panels (!) I couldnt get my big hands in to reach the indicator lamp holders. Did you remove the headlamp cluster complete to enable the installation?
  11. Hi Sorcerer I have just seen your post, but unfortunately cannot give you any information. However I am very interested in whether you have "sourced" (please excuse the pun!) DRL's that will fit the 400h. Please would you let me have the information and in return I will investigate the wiring. Many thanks in anticipation Ray
  12. Hi All. Just to keep you updated (excuse the pun!) My Lexus sales person has informed me that the sat nav map updates can only be done at the dealership now as no longer available on the Lexus Portal. The cost is £156..... a lot of money, I know, but I really don't want to have two display screens in my car (one on the dashboard and the other stuck to my windscreen!). The car is going in on Monday for some body panel repairs so have opted for paying for the update at the same time. Regards Ray
  13. Hi Everyone. Another CT owner here and what a great car Last week I bought a '63 plate F Sport from a Lexus Main dealer who informed me that I could update my Sat Nav by going online and downloading to a USB. I have tried in vain to sign up to the Lexus customer portal in order to download an upgrade for the sat nav. Upon calling Lexus Head Office, I am told that the portal has not been working since the bank holiday weekend. I have also been informed that even if the portal was working, sat nav downloads are no longer possible from the website and have to be done by the dealership. Please can anyone let me know what the current update will cost and how I go about obtaining it? Thanks in advance for any help in solving this problem Rayofsunshine
  14. Hi Patrick. I had a similar noise in my old 2001 RX300. It was a glazed drive belt on the alternator pulley and idler wheel. I eventually had it changed and was OK until I sold the car a couple of years ago. I would suggest that it may be worth trying to either spray some silicone onto the belt when stared up or dust it with French chalk / wife's talcum powder and then drive to see if noise disappears. Regards
  15. Hi Carl. Thanks for the info. Incidentally I bought a new disc last week from www.latestsatnav.co.uk and it wouldn't allow me to enter postcodes on the move. Worst of all it would not allow any voice commands for phone or music! Reinstalled the old disc and the function worked, so returned the disc. Vendor would not give full refund. I was very disappointed
