Just wanted to say hello from a Lexus is220d manual newbie.
I'm based in Swindon, and trying to find a Lexus Independent in the local area, because I have got an intermittent problem with the car jumping out of third gear (its a manual) when its cold, usually coming up to a junction when the power comes off. I think after having a look through the forum that it could be a thrust bearing issue. The Lexus Independent guy in Swindon said it wasn't a job he normally gets involved in, so if anyone has any recommendations it would be appreciated
Having previously owned a Jag x type and BMW 3 series diesel, I though I would take the leap into a Lexus. So far my initial impressions are very good with some pluses and minuses:
Positives: Wow this car pulls like a train in 3rd(when it doesn't jump out of gear) from 30 up to Silly speed
An exceptionally quiet car
Sound System is incredible
Performance is brilliant, and easily whips the BMW and Jag
Road holding is fantastic
The instrument panel is fantastic to look at when the car is started, a very similar look to my wife's civic
Negatives: Fuel Economy; its pants and the worst diesel mpg I've ever had, especially after the BMW. It even makes the Jag look economical!
Gearbox; My good goodness that first gear takes some getting used to!
Wheel; they seem a little small for a car of this size. I think I've got the standard 16" on. I'm thinking of getting some bigger 18" fitted
Anyway if anyone can help me out with a pointer in the right direction for someone who knows their way round my jumping out of 3rd gear fault I would be grateful
