  1. Looks Lovely Lee Mine is Canterbury Blue with perfect cream interior - just had some paint done & now looking at wheels, they really are a lovely car & looks like you got a good one. Hybrid Battery Performance & Life can be extended substantially PM me & i will tell you more (dont want to fall shy of rules on advertising) Richard
  2. As it looks best for me to get new wheels now several of the mounts for the chrome trims are broken I am looking at going down to 7.5j from 8 for the same reason - looking at autec fanatics- do you know any others that look lovely at all?? Rich
  3. Bum! No matter how gentle, patient, oil heat etc etc they still broke several of them!! just gotta work out if repair refurb & new plastic chrome spokes are worth it as opposed to some nice 15 spoke brand new alloys like sites fanatic s. Can anybody else suggest some classy replacements under £700 for 4???
  4. Mine must be well seized in then because I have given them more than a light tap believe me Think I will try again now they have soaked in wd40 or a light heating, thanks so much for doing the photo least I know I am not missing anything Rich
  5. Yeah i have done that Carl & taken all the 10mm nuts off them at the back but cant seem to get them off??? Rich
  6. Hi Carl - I am having my wheels refurbed can i ask how you got the chrome fingers out ?? I have taken the nuts off but can only get movement on one end of each???? Thanks Rich
  7. I think i would be inclined to agree about sensor - I am not too sure on your rights & your warranty in respect to this but clearly the place where you bought the car is the first stop, it is always worth mentioning that you are a member of the Lexus Owners Club as they will be less likely to string you along if they know they will get negative publicity on here & indeed dont forget facebook & twitter most places hate them. If you say there are quite a few people following your thread on it it will probably help. I am just wondering if somehow the fluid filter in the gearbox has become blocked leading to low pressure (all you followers what do you think?) if so that is easy to do. I also wonder if there is a legal begal on Lexus owners club who can answer your statutory rights question - might be worth posting a request for help on the main Forum page Harry (worth a go) Richard
  8. So beginning to get somewhere at least then Harry, on the older models like mine it is quite common to get the auxiliary transmission oil pump problem which if memory serves gives P2797 and sets the "Check Hybrid System" message. There are a Myriad of things that can set that. Glad your getting there, keep posting Richard
  9. In all honesty there are a Myriad of possible causes Harry, bad 12v, bad hybrid, bad cat, - oxygen/air flow sensors, oil pump, bad cooling fan, blocked cooling fan, bad inlet air sensor bad temp sensor-faulty wiring, bad connections the list is endless only a Techstream check will reveal the culprate/s. The electrolyte in the cells is not sulphurous Harry but the resulting fumes of a leakage could well be - this would be extremely rare though Harry so don't worry too much about that. The battery modules can withstand quite large pressures without damage, but minor physical damage during assembly of the battery pack is always a possibility no matter how well they are checked prior to sale, i think it unlikely to be hybrid battery failure but nevertheless the possibility still exists. Richard
  10. My pleasure, thank-you for your nice comments - glad to help. Richard :)
  11. Hi Harry The 12v can cause all sorts of issues if it is faulty but being a 2010 model I seriously doubt it would be that, - what concerns me is this sulphurous smell you talk about as it could be electrolyte leakage possibly but that would again be quite rare. Your Hybrid Battery is still covered under warranty by Lexus so if there is an issue with it they are obligated to rectify it ! If you don't get anywhere with your Lexus dealer then escalate it up the chain. As a last resort I am around. All the Best Richard
  12. This is so often the case, its really disappointing when we the general public & owners (like myself) of these cars who are led to believe & trust that Lexus dealers are the best & will do as they actually say they will, unfortunately to me (& a lot of my customers too by the way) it seems that most of them are Franchised & as such like pretty much all Franchised Dealers only really after one thing - your money of course. I really hope there are exceptions out there I cant believe all of them are this way. Recently I posted on the Lexus owners club Facebook group page offering free advice & guidance on battery, auxiliary transmission pump & shock absorber issues to any one who is having problems, pretty much directly after i posted i was grilled heavily by another member of the group as to my qualifications & experience which I was able to provide easily. He was clearly trying to discredit me to any one reading - It was only after this "conversation" ended after my repeat insistence's !! - that I thought I would have a look at this persons Facebook profile & guess what!!! Yep you guessed it he is employed by a Lexus dealership as an after-sales manager would you believe!!! I think the moral is only go on other owners experiences & reccomendations. With your transmission filling questions - if you would like to PM me I can give you a great tip on how to fill very easily to the correct level really easily & with no mess - from my own experience!!!
  13. Absolutely 100% new every time also worth dropping sump & fit new strainer - I found a broken bracket in sump which holds a small metal transfer pipe common fault I am told gasket part number is 35168 30020 if you find the drawing showing that on toyo diy you will see strainer
  14. They are not actually too tricky to replace for a mechanic on a two post ramp, the electric adjusters sit on top of the stem (behind the hybrid battery panel) there is nothing tricky here a simple bayonet fitting - push & twist & they are off also just as easy to refit as long as you make sure the drive spindle locates in the inner stem spindle properly which is pretty obvious - check the condition of the drop links if they are badly worn now is the time to replace them. Part numbers can be identified with your vin number from your V5/C at toyodiy.com Parts can be sourced at dealers or places like amayama or partsouq - there are probably other places out there too. hope this info helps other members too.
  15. LEXUS GS450H CHANGING TO A NON OE 12V BATTERY 1. Disconnect both battery terminals & remove from battery posts, using snip nose pliers squeeze the white plastic lugs which secure the fuse-holder fitting to the silver security bracket & pull fitting out of oblong hole then grasp the cream coloured connector shown on the top right & pull the whole thing firmly towards you (it will slide off of its mounting on the battery. 2. With a 10mm spanner or socket & wrench undo & remove the bolt which secures the silver clamp to the body shell & the 10mm nut on the back stud & remove the nut & silver clamp. 3.To the left of the battery pull the little rubber hose & remove it from the batterys' side, behind this there is a black electrical connector – push in its tang & unplug the plug from its socket. 4. Remove battery with black socket & wires still attached to it. 5. Under the yellow information sticker on the top left where it says “Never add water” carefully peel back the label to reveal a translucent silicon area & a channel where the two wires that go to the heat sensor (which is located inside the silicon) are seen. 6. Remove the black socket from the battery by grasping the socket itself with your left hand & pulling it towards the rear of the car & at the same time pressing down on its tang which is located (when looking from the top) in a rectangular hole which is slightly to the right of the socket (or behind it you might say) & usually has a white mark on it. 7. Now carefully manipulate the wires out of their channel & slowly but firmly pull the wires up & to the left until the heat sensor pulls out of the silicon, this sensor when fitting to the new battery may be gaffer taped to the top left of the battery. Reffitting is a reversal of removal.
  16. I have driven an LS600h & it is truly lovely - hybrid battery is however difficult to access as it sits under the rear air conditioning plant & the Audio Visual system (still possible though if you can regas AC & understand AV systems I guess)
  17. Mine are not faulty, i have 2 missing as the previous owner had the tyres changed at an independent outlet, so i have to clear the data every couple of weeks or so when warnings pop up - a real pain - I refuse to pay silly money to have them done at Lexus & will be working on a way to defeat/delete the whole thing and i WILL do it eventually!.
