  1. I'd just drive it and enjoy it ! You have a very economical vehicle whatever your style of driving.
  2. Just to clarify Normski's post. My 2008 SE-L has the anti dazzle rear view mirror and the anti glare wing mirrors.....but none of the other stuff. Good luck in your search and let us know what you find please.
  3. Thanks for that Tom. I haven't read about the claim limit you refer to, maybe I missed it ? The only limit I'm aware of is total claims mustn't exceed the initial purchase price of the vehicle, local Service Manager told me that. As you correctly say, a couple of minor repairs will make the warranty worth while. In fact, I'll be very happy not to make a claim, the peace of mind I have will enhance my driving experience without worrying too much about unexpected events.
  4. Haha ! :D Not to my knowledge, just a for instance ! It's the slickest gearbox I've ever driven, only the rev counter tells me it's changed.
  5. Only had my IS250 for 3 months and really enjoying it. I took out the extended warranty at £795 for 2 years. I really hope I don't have to use it, but if the gearbox fails I'll be extremely glad I have it. I took it out to give me peace of mind about potential major failures. However, it is encouraging that relatively minor items (boot seal, mirror servos, sensors) are also covered. Seems good value to me ! :)
  6. Mine's a petrol, can't help with your diesel problem sorry. I have been accepted to the Lexus extended warranty and my vehicle has first five stamps with Lexus and the last two with an independent Jaguar specialist. Hope this helps.

  8. If the revs rise before the speed increases then I'd suggest the clutch is on its way out.
  9. I drive an IS250 and the recent frosty mornings have had a detrimental effect on my mpg. Down 3 or 4 mpg average !
  10. I've always believed that it is not good for an engine to warm up just ticking over on the driveway. Moving off soon after starting enables the engine to warm up under load, it happens more quickly too ! I agree with other posts here, gently does it until operating temperature has been reached.
  11. That's cheating ! I average 29mpg in my IS250. If I were to calculate only when the engine was warm and in 6th gear, I'd be getting closer to 40mpg ! That's what "average" is, mpg calculated over all operating times. Your way makes you feel better, but it is inaccurate.
  12. Sorry, I'm new around here.....learning ! Good luck with your quest.
  13. Take a look : http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/96348-illuminated-door-sill-upgrade/
  14. My understanding is that it's a chain. Please post details of the vehicle you buy.....good luck in your search.
  15. Slightly lower mpg than a diesel, with petrol slightly lower in price = same cost ! A no brainer really when you consider the cosseted luxury and quietness of the IS compared to the smokey, rattly, noisy environment of the Audi. You'll be treated with more courtesy on the road too, us Lexus drivers aren't considered pushy and aggresive like the Audi and BMW brigade !
  16. Hi Sid, Only had my IS250 since 4th November. I can't comment on lpg, but my mpg experience is better than I expected. I went to Mansfield to collect the car and the run home was about 200 miles (mostly motorway at 70mph, not using cruise) and I averaged 38mpg. My daily commute is 5 miles to and 5 miles from work, with a 35 mile round trip to the supermarket every 8 to 10 days and I'm averaging 29mpg. I expect these figures to improve in the warmer weather, and as Normski says "Not bad for a 2.5 V6 really."
  17. Welcome Martin, I'm new here too. It is my understanding that the SE-L trim has the ML stereo. I recently bought an IS250 SE-L and it has the ML gear.
  18. They've been on the car for about six weeks and they're fine up to now. I wash the car weekly and clean each blade, I also never run the wipers over an icy screen. I'll see how they go.
  19. I bought these and they're great ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310350842316?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Don't know how long they'll last, but you could buy several pairs for the price of one Bosch pair !
  20. Only been here a couple of months and found it very enjoyable and informative. Happy New Year everyone, I'm sure I'll get to know you all better as time goes on. I'll be raising a glass of Glenlivet......Cheers !!
  21. Welcome Abdul. I acquired my IS250 SE-L just 2 months ago. My work commute is 5 miles each way on an A road limited to 30 or 50mph. Every week or so, I do a 40 mile round trip to the supermarket (I live in the sticks !) via motorway and dual carriageway. I observe the speed limits and am returning an average of 29mpg, so your wife should be happy ! When I collected the car I did a 200 mile return trip, mostly motorway, and achieved 38mpg. I expect the mpg to increase a little in the Summer when the temperature is higher. For a 2.5 litre automatic, I'm far from disappointed with the fuel consumption. I'm sure you'll enjoy the cosseted luxury too, I guess your wife will hardly get a look in once you have a drive !! Let us know what you get please.
  22. Hello Gavin, welcome ! I'm relatively new to the forum too. We're not too far apart in South Wales. How very disappointing for you, hope the dealer gets it sorted for you. Merry Christmas.
  23. Thanks Daniel.....that's reassuring. A visual inspection this morning showed nothing unusual. OK Antique. Happy Christmas to all.
  24. Thanks Boxbrownie, very interesting. Didn't realise a 4 or 5 year shelf life....surprising ! My spacesaver is 6 years old, never been on the car and tucked away in the boot floor. Better have a better inspection than just checking the pressure occasionally.
