  1. I don't see it as a pretty car either. I'd love to transplant its engine and gearbox into mine though
  2. Managed to achieve my goal yesterday. I removed the rear ashtray/vents assembly. There is a flat panel immediately beneath the hinge of the armrest which is above the 12v and usb connectors within the storage box. I drilled this to allow the mini usb plug through and threaded it beneath the passenger seat runners. I connected to the camera and set about concealing the cable back towards the starting point. Via top of the windscreen, down the A pillar and along the door sill. After routing the cable around the rear vent outlets, I could refit the ashtray/vent assembly. The cable is only visible under the passenger seat, but this is covered by a car mat ! Dashcam is working perfectly and the installation is virtually invisible.
  3. I'm pleased some of you found the link interesting.....thanks.
  4. Condescending reply as usual Mr manual transmission. I know nothing about ISFs, it was fresh on eBay and thought someone may find it useful. I won't bother next time !!
  5. Nothing at all to do with me, but thought it may interest some folks on here. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182021857670?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  6. MPG in colder weather will always be less than in the summer months. At less than £1.00 per litre, why the fuss ?
  7. Absolutely Normski. I have an aversion to Apple products because they tend to be reliant on other Apple products in the chain to work correctly.
  8. Oooops !........forgot the link http://store.wdc.com/store/wdeu/en_GB/DisplayAccesoryProductDetailsPage/ThemeID.22586100/WD_Outlet/My_Book_3TB/productID.287695800/categoryId.67934900
  9. On JRiver, if you go to Tools/Options, it lets you choose where your files will be stored, what format etc......it's very flexible. JR allows you to construct playlists track by track, so plenty of scope. Normski's solution seems to work for him and JR for me. Let us know how you get on Geoff.
  10. Yes, it took months to record the LPs, still not finished. I'm not much of a TV watcher and so I have been recording just a couple of LPs most evenings. It has been enjoyable rather than laborious as I've rediscovered some music I hadn't played for yonks ! Most of my albums are late 60s and early 70s so they pre-date cd by a long way. I don't think a lot of my music is available on cd and the albums that are have generally been transferred very poorly. Lots of compression with little dynamic range....they sound very flat and unexciting. This is the external drive that I use. In addition, I have a Samsung 1Tb portable drive that I have my LPs on too (belt and braces !)
  11. The equipment I mentioned isn't a recommendation of brands, just what happened to be around at the right price at the time. It's all in the living room with Mrs ledzep, she's the film lover ! I have my man cave with my HiFi
  12. If you have sufficient space, a proper 5.1 system with front, rear and centre speakers with a subwoofer will wipe the floor with the systems you are considering. Needn't be expensive either. By trawling eBay I found a NOS Onkyo 5.1 amplifier, a pair of Yamaha floor standing speakers, a Kef centre speaker, a Kef subwoofer and a pair of Gale rear bookshelf speakers. Amplifier was new, but speakers were used. Total expenditure was £600ish. I'm a bit of a hifi geek so I knew what I was doing, but just a little research will get you by. The compact Bose and Sony systems have high WAF (wife acceptance factor), but extremely poor sound quality compared to what I've suggested. It's little known that BOSE is an acronym for "Buy Other Sound Equipment" Willing to help if you wish Cracksta.
  13. Probably not. I use flac as a storage method to preserve all the detail but without the very large files. JRiver allows you to choose the storage format and also the format for burning to disc or saving to stick. If you have the storage capacity (very cheap now) then I consider it worthwhile to store in a lossless format. For playback in a vehicle, mp3 is probably adequate.....depends how fussy you are ? If I'd paid the premium for a ML system, I suspect I'd want to feed it the best possible source material. Personally, I don't rate the ML system much above the 11 speaker system I have in my IS. I'm a bit of a HiFi nerd, but the compromises inside a noisy, moving vehicle don't warrant the extra expenditure in my opinion.
  14. Mine is a IS250C, so may be a bit different. It is a SE-L August 2009 (one of the first convertibles). No rear blind for obvious reasons, no ML, but has mirror indicators with both usb and aux in the centre cubby hole.
  15. I use a Windows 8 desktop machine with a 2Tb internal hard drive. I also have an external 2Tb hard drive which is set to constantly mirror my internal hdd. As Normski says, it would be a bugger if the hdd failed and I lost all my music. It's very important that I have a back up system as I have recorded over 300 LPs to the computer, recorded in real time of course, not quickly ripped like a cd. All of my music is stored as flac files which is a lossless format but with much smaller files than wav. There is a certain quirkiness to Apple products, as Normski refers to. For that reason Geoff I strongly recommend you investigate JRiver before deciding on iTunes. I rarely use memory sticks, so don't have anything to contribute there.
  16. This is what I use and it works very well. There's also another system called dbPoweramp I believe, but I have no experience of that one. http://www.jriver.com/mj/
  17. This is nothing to do with me, just spotted it the other day. Don't even know if it's good value or not ? To my untrained eye, it looks interesting. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121882059973?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  18. Well done....looks like you've all sorted it
  19. Yes it can.....well it does on my 2009 IS250C. I did it just a couple of weeks ago to avoid it being frozen in the closed position in the morning.
  20. That sounds a beauty Iftikhar ! Photos are expected of course. Very pleased for you
  21. Hi Verbout. Mine is August 2009, first of 250C and it has folding mirrors when locking, maybe Lexus treated it as a 2010MY ? I suspect that yours may have the facility. It's all controlled from the button on the dash for settings. I've just turned the function off on mine because it was being frozen solid and I didn't want to damage the servo when the mirror is frozen solid. I'll re-instate the function when the prospect of ice has passed.
  22. From my experience, a certain driving style accompanies the majority of Audi and BMW owners. I wouldn't want to be associated with that style of driving.
  23. Nice one Iftikhar, thanks for making the effort . More easily read and therefore more enjoyable. Good luck finding a good IS250, I've been lucky to find the two that I have had.
  24. Hello Iftikhar, Pleased to see you can also do longhand
