  1. You were lucky you didn't encounter bows and arrows on that uncharted stretch of the A465 ! I have no experience of hybrids, but I'm contemplating retiring into a GS450h, so I find your results interesting. Any road up, cannot fault 35mpg in such a luxurious and quick motor car.
  2. The camera is removable in a few seconds, but I leave it in situ. It doesn't have battery power, so little point. If there is an incident and I need additional photos, I'll use my mobile. My daughter has the same dashcam mounted in the same fashion in a Fiesta ST. Hers is permanently powered and is equally inconspicuous and it recorded naughty footage when it was in the dealer for a repair. The service guy didn't like the mudflaps (that's an understatement !), I don't think he'd have gone on and on if he'd eyeballed the dashcam. A search on youtube for Think Ford Guildford should find it if you're interested.
  3. What a wonderful find ! Plenty of photos when you get it please. An LS460 might well be my retirement barge in 6 years time.
  4. I actually commented that I considered yours "a bit conspicuous," not obstructive. I can't comment further as your pics are no longer on the thread. As Kodiak Sky says, mine isn't apparent from the driver's seat. I took the pic right up by the mirror, so you could see it. I'm finding it tedious, not just on my threads, but every time I see a post from you toffee_pie it usually takes the form of a challenge to the previous poster.
  5. Took a couple of pics of mine. I think it's very discrete.
  6. Yes Dave, you're right, I've only seen those wheels on a GS before. I prefer them to mine, but mine are far easier to clean !!!!
  7. Beautiful colour Dave. Are they standard wheels for the model at the time ? I've only seen five spoke like mine.
  8. It looks great with the roof down....that'll be my next photographic project. According to the "How Many Left" website, there are only 829 IS250Cs in the UK. I've never seen another on the road, but I live in West Wales, it's mostly tractors around here. Pleased you like it.
  9. Thanks Dave. Only had the roof folded once....just to check that it works. Can't wait to get out for an open top drive.
  10. It's taken me until now to get a coat of wax on the car....I'm not idle, it just hasn't stopped persisting down ! It's a one owner with full service history at Lexus, Manchester and only 35k miles, August 2009. I'm delighted with the car, Mrs ledzep loves it too (the car!). Anyway, here's a few pics.
  11. Took a couple of pics today. It's very discrete and works a treat.
  12. I wish I was sufficiently competent to wire mine up for motion activated surveillance. The camera has the ability, but I don't I'm very happy that I got it all working in a very discrete position without any wires visible. Active while driving was the initial motivation, so very content with that
  13. I agree, some are more discrete than others
  14. I agree, some are more discrete than others
  15. Don't know who you're addressing Joe ? Mine is powered from the 12v socket beneath the centre armrest, so switches with the ignition.
  16. Looks a bit conspicuous to me. I chose to conceal my cam behind the rear view mirror, it's hardly visible from inside or outside. Just like this:
  17. My initial post #17 (why aren't they numbered on this new fangled layout ?) was presented in a very matter of fact way. I take your point that the police can't fund investigation into every misdemeanor on our roads. However, the 911 pulling in front of me and braking hard was very frightening and extremely dangerous. I had to brake so hard that my abs was activated ! It wasn't an accident for two reasons, I was sufficiently alert and responsive and the traffic following me were equally competent. I think you make light of the situation I described ! Don't think you'd have the same outlook if it had happened to you ! Having the dashcam installed hasn't and won't change my driving attitude, in fact I forget it's there, it is there in case I need it. It does have a bonus, since Mrs ledzep discovered that it records sound too, she is rather quiet in the car
  18. Irrespective of the number of reckless drivers, if one tangles with me I'd like to have some evidence recorded.
  19. Hi Callum. Count me in if you can find a sunny day this summer
  20. No experience of the rear blind, never even used mine when I had one ! If that's its only problem.....buy it !
  21. Wouldn't worry about "atmos" personally. Sounds a bit of a gimick to me You have a relatively small room, so wouldn't worry about watts too much.
  22. Great that you're going for a fully wired 5.1 system Cracksta. Still an all out of one box solution though. You should achieve realistic cinema sound in your room size and the subwoofer should be sufficient to rumble a bit. I started off with an out of the box system from Sony and it introduced me to home cinema. HiFi separates is your next step for better sound with the clarity and lack of boom that you seek.
  23. Last year I was travelling eastwards on the M4 between South Wales and London with cruise set around 75mph. I was in the middle lane overtaking lorries and in front of me were four cars travelling slower than me. My door mirror revealed no hazard so I pulled out to overtake. Within a matter of seconds a Porsche 911 closed on me very rapidly with lights flashing menacingly ! I continued to overtake the four vehicles at my cruise speed and pulled in immediately afterwards. The 911 was flashing me throughout ! As the 911 overtook me I gave him a two-fingered salute through my driver's window. He immediately pulled in front of me and slammed on his brakes. I had to brake very sharply to avoid a collision and was lucky that the car following me was sufficiently alert to avoid colliding with me too. As a result of this incident, I have just fitted a dashcam. Maybe I shouldn't have given the salute one may argue ? I just wish I had the footage of this *** in a Porsche to show to the police. Would they have done anything ? I don't know, but it was a very dangerous thing to do ! I'm pleased I have it, hope I never need to use the footage. I won't be posting on youtube, this is a peace of mind installation. £60 well spent in my view !
