My IS250C has the auto-fold mirrors. However, I disabled the function a couple of months ago as when there was a morning frost, the mirrors were stuck solid in the folded in position. Didn't wish to forcibly fold them outwards for fear of damaging the mechanism. In Cumbria, you'll probably have more frost than me. Just so's you know.

Hi Chris, I have an IS250C and have just had the nearside headlamp unit replaced under warranty. It had suffered water ingress resulting in condensation and a rusty tinge to the reflector bottom edge. I understand the new unit was close to £600. The breakers will know this and consider charging 20% for a used unit to be acceptable. In that context, £120 is probably reasonable.- 4 replies

With a philosophy like that, you should drive an Audi or a Beamer. You'd be in good company there....not here !!!!

Discounted Service Package
steveledzep replied to MNMJ's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I opted for the £795 2 year warranty. Had it last time on my IS250 that I only owned for a year. Not sure I got my money back on the unexpired warranty, but it helped me sell the vehicle instantly I guess. There are some good savings demonstrated here. I can understand when you own an ISF with just 200 or so specimens around, it's easier to make a long term commitment to the car. My IS250C has about 800 specimens in the UK. I'm undecided whether I'll make a long term commitment to the car and that precludes a service agreement at the moment. -
Welcome Frankie. Please don't buy an IS220D, get an IS250 instead. Don't take my word for it, there's plenty of evidence on this site....have a look around. Other members will be along soon to offer similar advice I suspect. Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase.

Nothing special on mine Andy. Falkens on the rear and new Nexens that the dealer fitted to the front when I bought the vehicle. I know they're budget brands, but are more than adequate for my driving style. I like to make good progress, but don't tear-arse !! Your post caught my eye, because irrespective of brand, I always look after my tyres. I'll consider replacements when they wear out, I've always used Bridgestone in the past. I think John makes a very good point, worth checking out I'd say.

I agree, I'd do the same if I was experiencing excessive wear.

My IS250C is 35psi front and 38psi rear, just like yours. Only had the vehicle for 5 months and I check the pressures every Sunday too I don't have any sign of excessive wear to the centre tread of the rears. All four tyres are wearing evenly. How accurate is your pressure gauge ?

Shaft Motorists Achieve Revenue Targets. Unlike you Steve, I have nothing against those German vehicles.....it's the arrogant, selfish drivers of said vehicles I can't stand.

Thank you Mike. Pleased you like it -
Last time I posted some pics after a serious exterior valet, I promised some topless pics when the weather allowed. Today has been a glorious day and I managed to valet the engine bay and boot area as well as conditioning the leather interior. Had my first topless drive in the Lexus today, far more refined than the 9-5 Aero we had.

I consider it good value too for peace of mind. You don't want to claim on your house and contents insurance, neither do you want to claim on your motor insurance policy. Treat the Lexus Warranty in the same manner, you don't want to claim, but very pleased you have it if a problem occurs. It's £795 for 2 years on my IS250C.

Lexus offered me a replacement tyre repair gunk thingy for £145 - I politely declined. I have bought off a factor on eBay two "Finilec" cannisters for £16 delivered for the pair. I bought two because a lot of cannisters specify for up to 16" wheels and mine are 255/40 18s. My research revealed that early gunks rendered the tyre useless afterwards, but these later ones are water soluble so you can repair the tyre. They are also TPMS friendly. If I had the saloon like yours Normski, I would carry a run home wheel too if only gunk was supplied, unfortunately the boot space is required for the folding roof on mine. Since you advised this on another thread, I've been experimenting with the paddles on my local running about. I'm amazed how seamless the gear changes are.....I've not used it with gusto yet though. My trip to Caersws is back on for this weekend so I'll be giving it a go.

I think a space-saver spare could fit in the well if it had been designed with that in mind. Modern trend I guess with tyre gunk in a can. Can't say I'm pleased (I'm a bit old fashioned), but the desire for the 250C was greater than the spare wheel compromise. Not particularly quick, but a lovely car nevertheless. I attend to the air and cabin filters myself too, so cheap and easy to do. Shouldn't be mileage related, depends on the environment it's driven in. I always find loads of leaves in mine. I have a 2 year Lexus warranty in place from November last year so I have to use Lexus servicing. The car was serviced just a month before I took ownership so I'll get away with just one service from Lexus to enjoy 23 months of the warranty.

My vehicle was in at Lexus Cardiff today for a warranty job (see extended warranty worth it thread). They compiled their usual Visual Safety Report video. While I was mooching around Cardiff shops I received a text telling me they had found three advisories and could I call. 1. Windscreen wipers just starting to smear a bit. 2. Non-Lexus interior mats fitted (still have the anchors on the driver mat though) 3. Tyre repair kit beyond expiry date. I'm not offended, just pleased that my car is in good nick

Mine was serviced last October at Lexus Manchester, just a month before I bought it. Therefore, for the majority of the 2 years warranty, my only commitment is one service at Lexus. Early last month I noticed water ingress into the nearside headlamp assembly with constant condensation. I've been to Lexus Cardiff today and had it replaced under the warranty. I understand the assembly is £500+, so add in the fitting and 2 years Roadside Assistance.....looks like I've already had my money's worth, with 20 months still to run

With the weather we've been having lately, the water content is bound to be high -
Sounds like the switch for the heater element in the front screen to defrost the wipers. Have a look to see if you have it beneath your wiper blades.
