  1. Haven't a clue and not really bothered.....maybe the ratios are different ? You firstly make the mistake of assuming I drive an auto to save £200 a year, now you're assuming that I require a performance car. I agree that performance is important, but 1 second difference in 0-60 isn't going to make a huge difference to me as long as the performance is adequate in the first place. The IS250 performance does only fall in to the adequate zone. My main purchasing criteria were reliability. comfort, prestige and looks primarily. Your manual possessed all of those features too. I may contribute to this thread in the future, but it won't be in response to one of your posts ERIC. Responding to one who always has to have the last say has become tedious. Enjoy your Merc. Maybe you should exercise your posting skills on their forum, after all, you do own one of their cars, not a Lexus.
  2. It's me "shoving my nose in" again ! I don't think there are many Lexus owners who are short of a couple of hundred pounds each year. You seem to imply that I (and other auto owners) bought an automatic because of the cheaper tax. If you look closely, you will see that I drive a 250C, a convertible. This model commands quite a substantial price premium over the saloons, hardly the purchasing behaviour of someone stuck for a couple of hundred a year. There are a lot of motorists who are motivated by cheap ownership, but certainly not most in my opinion. I consider the majority of motorists will seek value for money balancing cost of ownership against quality, performance, fuel economy, practicality, comfort and prestige amongst other buying criteria. £200 per annum additional tax costs has little to do with the undesirability of the IS250 manual. The automatic is better in every way. Using the steering mounted paddles, gear changes are both smoother and quicker than using a clutch and a stick. In automatic mode it is as smooth as silk. Best of both worlds ! I doubt that the number of people showing an interest in your Lexus is sufficiently large a sample to draw any meaningful conclusion from.
  3. I "shove my nose" as you put it, where I consider I have something relevant to contribute. You failed to mention that it was a manual you had to reduce the price on. How's the Merc going ?
  4. Probably would have got £8k if it had been an automatic.
  5. I have the same opinion as Normski.....little gems ! Perhaps it's as well that the masses haven't discovered them.
  6. This may help. http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/ Steve,
  7. It wasn't meant to be funny Gina, I am being serious. You are driving close to 100mph, you'll never get economy at that speed. The BMW and Audi drivers clearly have a higher fuel budget than yours.
  8. Drive more slowly on your commute
  9. Doesn't sound right to me. My previous IS250 and my present 250C don't do this, very smooth take off.
  10. A good find Ben. Other members might appreciate it if you post a link.
  11. Haha.....I agree with your summary of driver behaviour with various brands and models. My IS250C is a sporty looking convertible, but is not particularly quick by today's standards. It can crack on a bit of course, but most of all it is a very pleasant place to be and the exclusivity is top drawer with only 800 or so in the UK. It draws many admiring glances and prompts conversations even in supermarket car parks.
  12. On my second Lexus now. Had four Saabs previously. I like individuality and non-mainstream, hence the Saabs before. The demise of Saab made me look for another car (non German) and my research brought me to Lexus. Wouldn't entertain another brand now......I thought that about Saab at the time mind you !
  13. Those are the same size tyres as on mine, I have no reason to suspect they're not standard. Can't help you on the winter tyre query.
  14. I wash my car frequently.....don't need anything special on the wheels, just normal shampoo. It helps if you wax the wheels too when you polish the bodywork.
  15. That's a very good point Geof. I'd missed the fact that Paul has a hybrid. My response was from the viewpoint of a non-hybrid owner.
  16. I like to get the Lexus routine service stamps in the book. However, I'll always go to a reputable independent for discs, pads, tyres etc. I'm certain the Lexus stamps aid selling on, but don't think the other stuff matters as long as it's done professionally.
  17. Ed (capese21), I haven't contributed more because it is clear that you and I haven't a clue what we're talking about ! It appears that there is no other cleaner than Dodo Juice to do the job on this occasion ! I am very happy with the products I use, as you appear to be too Ed. As you say the OP wanted a leather cleaner that left a leather smell and you appear to have found one. BTW.....wonder where the OP is ?
  18. There's only me and Mrs ledzep so the interior doesn't really get dirty, other than the floor mats. Gliptone just keeps the seats fresh. Not tried Dodo juice, I'll keep it in mind in case we have an accident !
  19. I agree with Rayaan, the Gliptone cleaner is a bit syrupy straight from the bottle. That's why I massage it into a damp cloth so it is impregnated with the cleaner. Works a treat then and very quickly too.
  20. I use Gliptone Cleaner and their conditioner too which leaves a leathery aroma. It's a bit Marmite, as a lot of people don't like it. I find the smell pleasant, but more importantly I find it conditions the leather very well. The bolster on my driver's seat was developing cracks and they have disappeared for the moment. Good on our leather suite at home too. Gliptone readily available on eBay.
  21. This is what I found with mine....clogged up with grime. I used an old toothbrush and white spirit to clean the gears, dried it all, then lubricated with silicon spray. Worked perfectly since.
  22. I use Sygic on my phone.....far superior !! One off payment of £18 and it's excellent. Don't even need a screen mount, just sit phone in the centre cup holder.
  23. I can only afford 3 or 4 years old Lexus. I'd love to buy that one in 2020......Beautiful !!!
  24. It was an RX450h, 2013 with 54k miles, fsh and black.......£8,400 !
  25. Despite the address, nothing to do with me. Too cheap surely ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222065022909?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
