  1. This thread's a year old Russell, not sure if you spotted that ? I'm still up for it in 2017 though. Anyone else ?
  2. Yes, great review.....thanks Paul. I'm considering changing to an Rx May or June time. I've not had a test drive yet, but everything I've read suggests it's the correct vehicle going forward. Pleased you're enjoying yours.
  3. I have a "snow" button.....never used it. First time later today according to the forecast. I'm planning a change to RX later this year, I'll be interested in the replies.
  4. Yes Shaun, it's a gamble. Mines low mileage too, 2009 on 43k. I've broken even on my warranty up to now and still have 10 months remaining.
  5. My previous car was an IS250 saloon and it had a full service history but two services had been done by an independent Mercedes specialist. My car was accepted for warranty after a visual inspection by Lexus Cardiff. Depends how they view the Toyota service I suppose ??
  6. As Shahpor said. Lexus will probably want to do a physical inspection of your vehicle prior to acceptance for the warranty. I was fortunate that mine has a full Lexus service history so the inspection was deemed unnecessary.
  7. Yes £895, payable in 12 direct debits of just under £75 per month, so interest free ! Nothing better as far as I know.. Have a read of your current warranty, you may be surprised at what's covered....or more to the point, what isn't covered ! It may be worthwhile taking out the Lexus warranty prior to the expiry of your dealer one ?
  8. Yes Rebecca, they are very reliable. But, consider this : I bought my extended warranty 14 months ago. Nov 2015 when I bought the car from an independent dealer. I did so for peace of mind in case of major failure. I've had nothing major, but I've had a rear caliper replaced and a headlamp assembly replaced when it had condensation inside. Those two incidences alone total more than my £800 premium and I continue to enjoy premium AA membership and my warranty continues for the next ten months. I plan to change from the convertible later in the year and I shall put an extended warranty on my new (to me) RX as soon as I get it.
  9. Up to now, I've had two IS250s and I put two years warranty on each. Sold the first after 18 months and am planning to sell present one after 18 months too. The Lexus (transferable) warranty certainly helped with the sale of the first one and expect similar come May. Our next vehicle will be a three year old RX450h and as we're approaching retirement is likely to be a keeper and I intend to put successive Lexus Warrantys on it up to 10 years old. That's if I don't get the itch to change......
  10. In my experience, mirrors from lhd and rhd cars are different. The mirror on the passenger side is roughly 45 degrees to the body, whereas the driver's side is nearly right angle to the body. They don't readily interchange because of the difference in angles. Edit: It's the mirror housing that is at different angles.
  11. No experience of Halfords. I drive 60 miles to Cardiff Lexus for service, I have Lexus Extended Warranty in place so I have to have services at Lexus. Have you investigated the warranty ? It's extremely good value imo.
  12. If I recall correctly, an original post by Edwardo guided me in the installation of mine. I hid the cable along the exact same route. The unit comes with plenty of cable to reach the 12v supply in the centre armrest for a saloon (not sure about RX). I had to drill into the armrest box and thread the cable out from there, going backwards in effect towards the camera (12v plug too large to thread through). The camera unit itself allows very discrete mounting with the lens just peeking out beneath the shade band at the top of the windscreen.
  13. I went for this one too. Fixed installation with no cables visible. Very pleased, cannot fault it !
  14. That's a very good point. Don't think the OP has stated whether it's Auto or Manual.
  15. I do many journeys on the M4 driving 70-75 too and I always use cruise when possible. I have the IS250 and it usually returns 35 to 38mpg. Something I'm unsure of though. In the steep areas (ie Sarn Park, Bath), it will drop a gear and often two down to fourth in order to maintain speed. I've not tried it, but I'm sure I could coax the car along without dropping lower than fifth gear. I'm not sure if the cruise control is basing its gear selection on optimum economy or not ? Overall, I'm certain that the computer can operate the controls far more smoothly than my right foot, so I'll continue to use cruise. Report back with your experience please Nick.
  16. You'll need to have the affected area painted, unlikely a complete respray will be required. Photos would be helpful.
  17. Everyone on here is giving you good advice Fred, based upon experience. My initial response of get a refund and go for an IS250 still stands. The style and elegance will still attract many compliments, but your driving experience will be so much better. Go make yourself happy
  18. I wouldn't buy a car to fit my phone.....I'd change my phone to one that fits my choice of car
  19. Here you go ! https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/warranty-and-insurance/#Introduction I have the extended warranty on mine. I have already had my money's worth and it gives great peace of mind.
  20. If you look beneath the wiper arms, you can see the heater elements, just like on the rear screen. The difficult bit for me is remembering to turn the wipers to off before starting the car in icy conditions....I usually have them set to auto.
  21. That's about £80 per week to have an ever-ready luxury transport system available 24/7........just over a tenner a day...all inclusive !! Puts it into perspective
  22. Take it back to the dealer and demand a refund. Then buy an IS250....far better vehicle !!
  23. Just a thought, did you fiddle with the EQ settings....or just switch it on ? If I was able to purchase an ISF or RCF, I wouldn't mind if there was a hole in the dash where the stereo is supposed to be !!
  24. Maybe it's my view that's unusual Andy ?? Just me I suppose....don't attach a great deal of importance to absolute sound quality in the car. At home.....that's a different matter ! Good luck in your quest, I'll follow the thread with interest.
