  1. Very interesting read Paul.....thanks for posting.
  2. I assume "across the board" means all the comparison sites ? It's usually a postcode thing. Out in the sticks in west Wales my RX costs me less than £300 with all the bells and whistles too.
  3. Nothing wrong with your eyesight Rayaan. Yes, I thought the border on the plates would set them off a bit. Glad you like it .
  4. I'm still feeling my way around. First chores were checking wheel nuts (why should I need a 6' bar on the brace to slacken the nuts ?), damn air guns ! Fluid levels, tyre pressures and safety stuff. It's on 55k miles with 6 service stamps from Lexus and it had the 60,000 service with plugs at 53,000 ! Had a day of good stuff today, changing the plates and giving it a wash. It's an easy vehicle to wash, but it's huge !! Here's a few pics.
  5. After a service, you can see that the oil has been changed, it's a different colour.....for the other stuff you have to have trust. Develop a rapport with your service provider, they're more likely to look after you properly .
  6. Nah....it's the twunts who drive them. Audis too .
  7. The direction indicators on Audis and BMWs are intermittent at best in my experience .
  8. I recall you joining here Rebecca and I remember you swiftly rectifying your mistake. Yes, IS250 is a fantastic car, had two of them (saloon and convertible) over the last three years. Just moved on to an RX. Hope you continue to enjoy yours at least as much as I enjoyed mine .
  9. That's a very kind thing to say Normski......many thanks . Newbie's IS250 buying guide is indispensable for a new purchaser. It's a great shame that buyers new to Lexus tend to join the forum after purchase ! There'd be a lot fewer IS220D tales of woe if only they'd researched first. I had a snoop around here before buying my first IS250....everything I read just encouraged me No plans to leave Normski, I enjoy the read and banter on here. I'm pretty au fait with my new RX450h Luxury (13 plate), but I have no doubt that questions will arise along the way. I'll start my own thread for that.
  10. P/X'd it on Tuesday for an RX. My sore back will benefit from the easier access. I'll do a new thread with photos in a week or so, busy time for me at the minute.
  11. Always buy the right car, not necessarily the local car. I'm in south west Wales near Swansea and my last car purchases have been as follows : RX450h - Wolverhampton IS250C - Southport IS250 - Mansfield Saab Aero Convertible - Milton Keynes Saab Aero Sportwagon - Wrexham Hyundai Coupe - Derby Shame you missed mine Tom....it was a good one.
  12. Yes, welcome to the forum Geoff. Just picked up my new (to me) RX450h on Tuesday. Not quite as pretty as yours, but I'm chuffed with it nevertheless ! Like you I suspect, I have a lot to learn about my new vehicle. BTW, mines a 13 plate Luxury in Garnet Red, I'll put photos on here when I have the opportunity to wash and pamper it.
  13. It's only just March, but I collected our new (to us) RX450h yesterday. The contributions on this thread helped me a lot, with particular thanks to Rayaans and Glover. Only had it a day, but I agree about the warm up time of the engine, I'd say half the time of the IS. The seating position in the GS is not very different to my Convertible, but the RX requires a slight step up to become seated instead of a fall into a bucket !! No meaningful mpg figures yet, but I'm fascinated watching the graphic telling me where the power is coming from, hope it doesn't become the guide to my driving. After collecting it from Wolverhampton yesterday, I rang Mrs Ledzep from Newtown (halfway). She of course asked about the car, I replied "It's like driving an armchair". It's a 13 plate RX450h Luxury in Garnet Red with black leather, Lexus fsh and 55k miles. Looking forward to my day off on Saturday so I can have a play with the car. I'll take some photos so I can prove it really happened.
  14. I had condensation in my nearside headlamp assembly last year. It was replaced on the Lexus extended warranty.
  15. Had the water pump changed on mine just last month at 44k ! Under extended warranty fortunately
  16. I'm very positive about it too. Since purchasing the warranty for £895 (I think) in November 2015, I've had a few claims. Nearside headlamp assembly replaced (condensation), water pump replaced (noisy) and two rear brake calipers replaced (seized). Total Lexus retail value c£1,600. Warranty still valid until November and I have the Lexus Roadside Assistance package too ! Even if I hadn't claimed, I'd view it as an insurance policy for peace of mind.
  17. Thanks for that Normski. I'll give it a go with a soft brush and report back.
  18. No. I didn't use a brush, just a microfibre cloth. I was worried about too much abrasion on the leather surface....maybe that's where I went wrong.
  19. I'm on 45k miles with original discs and pads. A recent safety inspection showed "7-8mm on the pads all round and a slight lip on the front discs". Probably is to do with driving style
  20. Chrome dustcaps can be a disaster, "welding" themselves so tightly that any attempt to remove them damages the valve stem. Very expensive with TPMS. I use them because they look good, but I advise a smear of oil on the stem and gently finger tight only......they only have to stop dust entering, not air escaping . Hope they can release yours Norman.
  21. Had a go with the Dodo Juice this afternoon. Thought it was ok at cleaning and very easy to use without fear of clogging the perforated seats. The bolster on the driver's seat didn't change much, the appearance is down to cracks in the surface of the leather I think. Before and after shots here (in that order). I did all the seats with it, they weren't really dirty but once you've got your cloth damp there's no knowing when to stop . Couldn't resist a pic of the finished interior.
