  1. Installed a dash-cam in my 2013 RX just a few weeks ago. Your interior looks the same as mine.......where is your "cigarette lighter socket" ? Mine has an open shelf area underneath the cup holder/mouse area with a 12v socket . I decided to wire direct from the camera (mounted behind rear view mirror) across the top of the windscreen. Down the passenger A pillar and door frame, under the floor mat and into the socket. Only about 3" of cable is visible. I keep a towel on the shelf for wiping up spills or wiping hands etc. Looks very acceptable to me.
  2. That's good to know...thanks.
  3. I don't like using the strong chemicals, as I said, I consider the finish on the wheels a bit fragile. I'd rather use gentle suds on a more regular basis.
  4. I too use the same car shampoo, Turtle Wax at the mo. I use a gentle sponge as the paint is quite fragile I've found. From time to time I'll put a wax polish on to make it easier to clean in the future. Just had my RX for 6 weeks now and I'm amazed how little brake dust accumulates on the wheels in between washes. My previous IS blackened the front wheels in no time !
  5. I know the area, I'm from North Wales originally (Mum & Dad still in Connah's Quay). Not many motorways there !!
  6. Irrespective of the mpg and which car etc. I spent eleven years commuting at least to Cardiff on a daily basis, a 120 miles round trip. I say at least, because I'd often visit offices in Swindon, Avonmouth, Exeter and Portsmouth. All of this was in company diesel vehicles, Passat, Accord etc. Those days I was working 60 hours a week and doing 50,000+ miles pa. For the last ten years I've done a 10 mile daily round trip and working 37 hours a week. I imagine that I may live a little longer . Think very, very carefully before you go for the new job.
  7. That's Rebecca's neck of the woods. Right car too. Sure she doesn't do bat out of hell though
  8. Plenty of speed bumps around here too. Something I've noticed around Swansea in the last year is fences being constructed between lanes on dual carriageways when approaching roundabouts. This makes the motorist stop before entering the roundabout instead of looking ahead and entering in third gear if safe to do so. This is wasting loads of fuel too....and it's us that's paying for it ! This occurring anywhere else ?
  9. Wouldn't have thought mpg is a major concern when you choose to drive an IS-F. I have air-con on all the time and I've never measured the difference in mpg should I switch it off. I don't do a high annual mileage so comfort is more important to me than mpg. Think I read somewhere that air-con operational can cost an additional 5% in fuel ?
  10. I had caps like that on a Saab in the past. The grub screw and allen key is a right pita !! I've had non-secured Lexus caps for a while now and they haven't been nicked .
  11. Blimey......can't even give them away !!!
  12. Rayaan is very knowledgeable with inside informers I understand. A true asset to this forum . Can be opinionated at times though .
  13. If you use metal valve caps (as I do), always smear a little oil on the thread of the valve and only tighten to finger tight. They're only keeping dust out, not air in ! I have heard of caps corroding on to the valve stem and being impossible to release......a costly exercise replacing tpms valves !
  14. Looks gorgeous ! Great choice of colour.
  15. I'm in the sticks of south west Wales, 25 miles from Swansea. I've just renewed with Admiral at £320pa, that includes protected ncd, courtesy car, business use for me and Mrs Ledzep with an excess of just £200. We're both early 60s with 9 years ncd.
  16. I'd agree, intermediate this time. Last one was major with plugs.
  17. Not heard the words "Stand and Deliver" in the dealership. Maybe they whisper it behind closed doors ?
  18. No experience of a respray Russell, but Mrs Ledzep would love that Veloster. She had the Hyundai coupe a few years ago. On the respray issue......my gut feel is to keep it original, for resale reasons if nothing else. I tend to change my cars frequently, so I would say that.
  19. That's what it was. Don't shoot the messenger
  20. Polishing paste would have had no effect on mine, the problem was internal condensation. I suspect that's what the OP is referring to.
  21. Just had my first RX450h for a month now. I found the noise in the final stages of braking a bit unusual at first, but wouldn't describe it as creaking with a thud.
  22. Had nearside headlamp changed last year on my IS250C SE-L. Invoice was c£700. Fortunately Lexus extended warranty picked up the tab.
  23. I'm in my sixties and I fall into the comfy/economy camp. The driving experience is excellent to me, but I don't wish to tear arse around corners with screeching tyres and heavy exhaust note ! The German marques have engendered a sheep-like following in this country and they seem to attract selfish and discourteous drivers in my opinion. I drove Saabs for many years and Lexus for the last four. Only got my RX a month ago and virtually every one of my work colleagues (100+) have noticed and commented. That's cachet
  24. Not a lot as far as I can see !! Silver, cakes and Guinness seem to be the most talked about
