  1. Had 4 Saabs before I went to Lexus.....you can't go wrong
  2. A little tip, the SD card may need formatting before it will work. Had to format mine.
  3. That's neat Rayaan, far less visible from outside too. Here's a pic of mine in the RX. I couldn't get a shot from outside, the glass was too reflective. The lens just peeks beneath the shading.
  4. I reduced the length of mine with a fine-tooth hacksaw then smoothed with fine wet&dry. This allowed the camera to be mounted higher up with just lens showing. This was on my IS250C Your installation looks very visible. I'll take some pics of mine on the RX tomorrow.
  5. Ouch !! Same as the one I had in my IS250C. You can make a neater installation Rayaan by shortening the top part (hacksaw), it doesn't contain any of the workings. The advantage is that you can have the lens just peeking out immediately beneath the shaded part of the windscreen. Less obvious to people outside the car. The similar one I've got for my RX is shorter so makes for a very neat installation.
  6. No problem with common grounding.
  7. Not sure what you mean ? Can they press close and two blips for lock and alarm then walk away before tailgate has closed ? Whereas we have to wait until tailgate is closed before we press the nipple twice ? Hope nobody's reading this out of context
  8. How do you know the Dock Green cars had red leather ? I remember my dad with a starter handle on a Ford Consul mk1 and also a Morris Oxford. I specifically remember that both had front bench seats.
  9. Ooops, didn't read the spec of the hard wire kit.....looks good to go. My "use the plug and socket" solution can still be done very tidily.
  10. That's the exact dashcam I've had in my IS250C and my present RX....you won't be disappointed, it's excellent value for money ! In both fitments I've hidden the cables along the top of the windscreen and down the passenger side A pillar and interior door trim. In the IS I went under the floor mat and into the centre storage box (had to drill a hole and wire in reverse from the socket to the camera.). In the RX I've done the same route but under the floor mat into the socket in the void under the gear lever etc. I'm no expert, but I'd be unsure about going direct into a fuse holder. I believe the cigar lighter plug contains a dropper circuit to take the voltage down to something like 5.2volts if I remember correctly. Sounds problematic if you wire directly into 12volts. Hope this helps.
  11. Overly aggressive traffic calming measures (sleeping policemen) are the problem around here. I take every bump gently, but some of them are so severe they rattle my teeth ! Got to affect my vehicle suspension in the long term. Hope you get it sorted Pawel.
  12. The other one is parked further along
  13. Congrats Ian.... I have no experience of any of those insurances. Personally, I'd just be inclined to be careful. The cynic in me thinks they're all ruses to extract extra coins from you !
  14. I have a garage more than capable of housing the RX, but it is full ! Workbench, shelving, lawnmower, lawnraker, pressure washer, barbecue and patio furniture through the winter. I'm happier with my car outside, not keen on putting a wet, warm car in a still, warm environment.
  15. Welcome to the forum Lee. I bought mine just 3 months ago at beginning of March and I'm delighted with it. My daily commute is 5 miles each way with 50, 40 and 30mph speed limits along the way. I do a fortnightly run to the supermarket which is 20 miles away (mostly motorway) and I'm averaging 31mpg (calculated on full to full tank). The major service is at 60,000 miles where the spark plugs are changed. Can't help with your bicycle query....sorry. Keep us informed of your progress please.
  16. Paint code is usually on the passenger door frame. May not have been 10 years ago ? Just noticed your location, Mum and Dad are in Connah's Quay.
  17. Welcome Rob. I ran Saabs for 6 years...great cars. Run Lexus for last 4 years. Pics would be good !
  18. Am I correct ? Vauxhall Firenza (first) and VX Chevette GS230 ??? (second). Some Chevette variant in the middle. Nice in their day
  19. Thanks for that Rayaan, I see it now. I was looking next to the rectangular button used to electrically close the tailgate...doh !!
  20. Untrained eyes.....missing the wolf in sheep's clothing !
  21. Hope not renewing your extended warranty doesn't come back to bite you Adam. I've had two IS250s in recent years and had claims greater than the warranty cost in both cases. Only had my RX for 3 months, but first thing I did was to put extended warranty on. Not all independents will be familiar with the complexities of the Lexus hybrid system. Oil and filter and check brakes is all well and good, but despite their reliability, Lexus cars do develop faults. One claim I had was for c£650 for a misted up headlamp assembly, no servicing is going to prevent this. I view the servicing costs as an expensive route to vehicle care by trained personnel, but with attached peace of mind. The warranty premium (£500 pa for my RX) I view as an insurance policy. I don't wish to claim on it (just like my home insurance against burglary), but I'm mighty please it's there if there's a problem. Maybe you consider the risk element to be lower on your CT model ?
  22. Be sure.....do it at Lexus. Halfrauds are not experts. I have a Lexus extended warranty too, I wouldn't risk it just to save a few quid.
  23. After reading this thread, I took a look yesterday. Didn't spot anything there. Wasn't looking for a nipple though.....well you don't do you ? I'll look again.
