  1. I'm not familiar with the CT (other than a one day loaner), but I am familiar with the CVT gears. I liken it to the chain on a bicycle's derailleur gears going up and down to the different ratios.....BUT, imagine the gear cogs as a smooth cone with a rubber band rather than a chain. Some of the older members here may remember the Daf Variomatic cars of the late sixties and seventies. They literally had a rubber band going up and down a cone to provide the drive ratio. I don't drive in a particular manner to maximise fuel economy. I drive according to conditions and the progress I wish to make. We all drive relatively expensive vehicles that are very economical anyway.....I really don't see fuel economy as a major consideration to driving style....just drive in the manner you wish. One or two mpg extra or less is quite insignificant to the overall driving experience of Lexus vehicles. IMO of course .
  2. I've read that posting from you before Geoff. Maybe it was on my phone, but it's really odd that it's not listed here ??? I've definitely read it, because I remember thinking to myself "He's not said anything about how he got on with the RX". Did you have a drive of one Geoff ? Can't help you with your IS valuation I'm sorry.
  3. I agree with all that has been said. Initially, the RX appears a very large vehicle, and it is ! But, Rayaans has correctly pointed out that it is only a few centimetres (length and width) larger than an IS. Once inside, driving from that high commanding position, you feel at one with the vehicle. The extra visibility afforded by its height make it an easier vehicle to drive than the IS in my opinion. Mrs Ledzep agrees too, she wouldn't go back to a saloon car now. Just takes a little time to get used to the RX.....about five seconds
  4. It's lovely here, far nicer than that London and Glamorgan for that matter.
  5. Here you go Geoff. Mine since I got the car. Mostly rural driving around here. 30mph to 50mph on my 5 miles commute to work (no traffic jams). Fortnightly 40 miles round trip to Asda on the motorway. I was impressed with the Scotland trip averaging close on 37mpg. I tend to drive on the speed limit with gentle acceleration. Not averse to booting it occasionally to overtake....it don't half go !!!! rxmpg.xlsx
  6. Totally agree, I get lots of comments about mine when it's gleaming. Really catches the light with the metallic flake in the paint.
  7. Can't be such a fat bloke if you can do all that without lifting the car . Well done John.....you must be well satisfied with yourself !
  8. The spacesaver is stored in a well under the boot floor. It is accessed by removing the boot floor, it's not exposed to the elements. Got my RX from an independent dealer in Wolverhampton. It was a little unusual as he was selling the vehicle on behalf of a friend who had been made redundant and needed to offload the finance. Didn't get as much for my 250C as I'd have liked, but the RX was 3 or 4k cheaper than a Lexus forecourt. All about the cost to change and on that basis I was happy with the deal. Good luck with your search.
  9. Hi Geoff. Had my RX for just 6 months now and delighted with it. Previously had an IS250 and IS250C, so other than the hybrid bit, similar cars to yours. I changed to the RX because my back was suffering climbing in and out of the 250C. Mine is a 2013 (March) Luxury and is the facelift model, easily spotted with the DRLs. It has everything my IS250 SE-Ls had except for illuminated scuff plates and ML stereo, so very well equipped. The standard stereo is more than adequate in a motor vehicle, I didn't notice a difference from the ML (and I'm a bit of a HiFi geek). My vehicle is a 2 owner with full Lexus SH and the 60,000 was done at 53,000 including the spark plugs. I paid just under £20k for mine at 55k miles, so you have plenty of scope with your £24k budget. My advice is to take your time, the right one will come along. I searched for a few months before settling on mine. Good luck with your search. Let us know what you buy please.
  10. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/64845-spark-plug-replacement-mileage/
  11. I'm no expert, but it is my opinion that spark plugs degrade relative to mileage, not time. i.e. they're good for a certain number of sparks before replacement is required. I think I've read somewhere that the replacement schedule for spark plugs in the US is 100k miles. If that is the case, how much money are we wasting changing plugs at 60k, or much earlier in some cases with time based servicing ? My RX had the 60k service (including plugs) at 53k, just before I took ownership, so I don't need to worry for a while
  12. As all contributors have said, looks a well looked after car for a keen price. If I were looking for one of these, I'd call him again before someone beats me to it.
  13. Me too, been dealing with them for the last three years and I cannot fault them. I'll be calling Natalie soon to arrange my next service in October.
  14. Beautiful car Paul. Lovely colour combination.....bet it turns heads wherever you go
  15. Had mine for 6 months. Cannot fault it. Give one a whirl!!
  16. Lovely car....you must be really chuffed. You don't take a bad snap either Richard.
  17. Think David wants a picture of the bin prior to fitting of the tray.....as I do. Mine's a 3RX so maybe different to yours. Looks a nice bit of kit.
  18. The warranty was good for me on my previous two IS250s, in each case claims exceeded premium. Got the RX in March this year, first thing I did was put a Lexus warranty on. Hope I don't have to claim, but the roadside assistance and warranty cover provides peace of mind for me.
  19. It would be a huge disaster to have a collision with a US belly button. Hope it has plenty of fluff inside to cushion the impact
  20. Not necessarily. What is the file extension ? My previous dashcam played on Windows Media Player no problem, I sold that with the IS250C. I bought a new one for the RX and the file extension is .MOV. This is an Apple file and I had to download Quicktime for Windows (or something like that to allow me to see the files. Just checked and it's called "QuickTime Player". Maybe this is the difficulty you're experiencing ?
  21. Exactly like mine....except....I'm envious of your sunroof . Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.
  22. What a lovely looking car. So much glass !! Unlike the thick pillars and blackout prevalent on today's models.
