  1. I've shared my experiences and information. Happy motoring .
  2. Sounds like a hunch to me.
  3. That's your opinion based on no experience Sean. Your car is only a couple of years old, so very unlikely to suffer a major failure. When I had my two ISs, they were 6 and 7 years old and in both cases my claims value exceeded the cost of the warranty. Comprehensive AA cover and peace of mind came totally free with both vehicles. My current RX is approaching 5 years old and I have the Lexus warranty on it. I have home contents insurance too, but in both instances I'd prefer not to have to claim.
  4. I've had two IS250s, a saloon and convertible. My normal use was mostly short journeys with a 5 mile commute to work and would get between 27 and 29 mpg. On a long run I'd achieve 35 to 38 mpg. I have to say, if fuel consumption is a major concern to you, you shouldn't be driving a 2.5l V6 automatic !!
  5. By all means pursue a test drive local to you Geoff. When you decide that the RX is for you, you will need to travel in order to get the right car.
  6. I remember the Golf dropping from above....."Velly Leriabre"
  7. I too had Nexens on my IS250C and I thought they were fine, I wouldn't have a problem fitting them to the RX. I have Dunlops and Pirellis on my RX and I do find it takes a lot more stopping. Probably a combination of its weight and the regenerative braking system.
  8. Yeah, I'd be dubious about a deposit in a private sale situation too. As a private seller you take the money from the first buyer that comes along, done it myself. Sorry you lost out and hope you find a decent one soon.
  9. I have travelled distance for my last six cars. It is difficult to react quickly to a newly listed motor when you're not exactly next door. I've always expressed enthusiastic interest and the offer of a £200 deposit refundable should I not like the car when I view. In every case the car has been held for me pending my viewing. With £200 they know you're going to turn up. My present RX was held for me for 4 days and the dealer had a long list of people to call if I rejected the car. Ironically, he didn't process the deposit, the fact that I offered it was sufficient for him to judge my level of interest. If you want something, you have to make it happen !
  10. There's a crowd of four that I've seen a couple of times congregated in a 30 limit just outside my village. Up until a few years ago the limit was 40 there, it's not particularly built up, just a pub and a few roadside homes. These people need to get a life methinks !!
  11. Lovely car Eamonn. I had an 09 model prior to my RX. Same colour as yours but with ivory interior.....loved the car and had some lovely days out in west Wales. Didn't do my poorly back any good, hence the RX.
  12. I have one too. I consider it insurance that one day may be useful. It was only 60 quid and excellent.
  13. Totally agree. After my hifi at home, anything in a car is mediocre at best.
  14. For about a grand for two years cover, I think it's a good insurance policy Rayaan. I notice the cars you run are just a few years younger than mine, that influences my decision.
  15. I put the 2 year warranty on my 2013 RX when I bought it in March this year. I had two ISs previously and in both cases I claimed more than the warranties cost me. Don't forget it includes top of the range AA cover too. It doesn't take much to go wrong with an RX to get a bill of £1k+, the peace of mind element is important to me. I'm in for service next week and I suspect I'm going to get a rear brake caliper out of it and there's still eighteen months left to run.
  16. I don't drive sufficiently aggressively to consider an X5. I don't have the time to take the RR back for repairs frequently (nor the cash). I really enjoy my 3RX, we went up to Scotland in June....it was like driving an armchair !! My only criticism is that it revs hard to cope with hills. I'll be replacing in a couple of years with a 4RX. My average so far since March is 33mpg (calculated, not computer).
  17. I deactivate mine when a heavy frost is forecast. I was caught out a few times when I had an IS250 SE-L.
  18. My 3RX Luxury has the moving lines on the reversing camera, but no paddles. Hope this helps.
  19. Same on my RX too. I use a squeegee to clear the glass before setting off.
  20. Lovely car. Pleased you have a solution.
  21. Ah....a man after my own heart ! I did the same on a reel to reel, a humble Ferguson though, not a Revox. I adored Fluff, not his pick of the pops, but his Rock Show on Saturday afternoons IIRC. Shame you sold the Linn, do you still have your records ? I'm very much an analogue man as most of my home listening is from good old vinyl records...old ones ! As smooth as my RX is, I don't think I'll fit my Gyrodec
  22. Click on the "Forums" drop down at the top left. Then scroll down to the NX section. How user friendly is that ?
  23. I've come across you before Denis.....you're just very rude !!!!
  24. I have found my last six vehicles via eBay. Four from independent dealers and two from private advertisers. Maybe I've been lucky, but all the cars have been good ones. I research the feedback of the seller and talking to them is usually the most revealing. Obviously, check out the vehicle details mot history. Just have caution at the forefront of your mind.....but this applies wherever you buy from....Lexus dealer, Independent dealer, privateer on eBay or Autotrader. From your previous dialogue Geoff, looks like you're going to become a privateer on one of those sites....would you warn people against buying from you ? There are rogues of course, but I'm sure you'll smell a rat if confronted by one. Good luck.....get an RX, you'll love it !!
