  1. Just under a year ago I bought a March 2013 3RX Luxury 450h for £19,950. Two owners, Full Lexus servicing with 55k on the clock and the 60k service (including plugs) had been done at 53k. So, your budget is not unrealistic John. I was patient searching for it and have been delighted with it since purchase. Here's a summary of my mpg since purchase: rxmpg.xlsx
  2. Nine years ago I had my valve caps nicked from my Saab 95 Aero. It was at my brother's funeral. I can't prove anything, but his work colleagues all drove company Saabs. I then purchased some with an allen key operated grub screw for locking.....what a pain in the arrus !! Had my Lexus ones a few years now......fingers crossed.
  3. My RX does it when driving forwards off my drive every morning. I enter a narrow lane and I'm on full lock. Only appears to do it from cold, if I return home then go out again it doesn't judder. Manoeuvring on the drive is ok as it's gravel.
  4. I use Lexus branded aluminium dustcaps too. I always smear a bit of oil when I've had them off to check pressures. I only ever do them up to very light finger tight, they're only dustcaps, not stopping the air from escaping.
  5. Yes, of a certain age ! Sensation for sensation sake epitomises Sun and Star journalism. Some of the mindless TG escapades fall into that category in my opinion. Maybe a bit unfair with my broadbrush approach.
  6. I stopped watching many years ago when it became an entertainment programme with a central theme of cars aimed at readers of The Sun. I really enjoyed TG when it was about cars, William Woollard era I guess .
  7. I don't have the facility to receive it. I stopped watching those muppets on TG many years ago. This thread doesn't give me the impression that I'm missing something.
  8. Are the two threads connected ?

  9. Dolly Sprint was a very quick car in its day. Bit sit up and beg driving style compared to today's more reclined stance. Sorry to hi-jack OP, pleased you're sorted.
  10. Haha.....I sold those cars in the early eighties. Dolomite was nice ! Managed to pay a mortgage and buy a house. Peoples expectation of cars was a lot less then. The arrival of Datsun and Toyota changed the expectation.
  11. If I recall correctly, Ford developed a heated front screen and patented it so other manufacturers couldn't copy it. I may be wrong, but I recall reading that somewhere. My front screen takes a few minutes to clear using conventional fan method.
  12. The car is virtually bullet proof, I agree. However, it's the things that catch you by surprise ! I had a front headlamp assembly changed because the original had decided to condensate and corrode the reflector. £700+ ! Don't forget the peace of mind from the premier AA package included too. One thing's for sure, a thousand quid buys you bugger all at a Lexus dealership
  13. Here you go : https://d3rvezpmgp265q.cloudfront.net/lexusone/lexgbenv11/Lexus-Extended-Warranty-Terms-and-Conditions_tcm-3157-1184113.pdf?_ga=2.192733737.206863879.1513090314-1522756123.1513090314 I had it on a couple of IS250s and the claims exceeded the premiums each time, only just though. I've taken it out on my RX too. Good luck in your search, they're lovely motors.
  14. If I were thinking of buying the vehicle, I'd want the timing belt changed too. Good luck.
  15. Looks nice and shiny !! Wrong time of the year really, but I had many a winter day with the roof down........cab heater and heated seats on. It's a very good design, there is little wind ingress to the cabin when the roof is down. You'll be watching the weather forecast for a dry day now Philip......ENJOY
  16. You'll enjoy every minute......pics please !!
  17. I'm sure you'll really enjoy the experience Philip. I miss my IS250C, but am delighted with my RX. Just different, that's all !
  18. I owned one for eighteen months or so. No loud knocking noise from the roof on mine, that sounds like a problem. You get rattles from the roof cradle stowed in the boot, but easily solved with little rubber door wedges shoved in to stop the rattle. It's a very comfortable grand tourer, too heavy to give blistering performance. However, a spirited drive is possible, particularly when using the gear shift paddles. All of my mileage was done in SW Wales on hilly, bendy A roads.....I had some fun. I only changed it for my RX because of back trouble for which I needed an easier accessible vehicle. Buy an IS250C, you'll have some fun, especially when the weather is good.....still miss mine.
  19. Just enjoy the tunes in the car and seek quality music listening at home.
