  1. Lexus need to up their game. I had a 55 plate GS but was let down by the rattles. Want to come back though
  2. Sold my 55 plate GS for the E-Class 350CDI. The Lexus drives much nicer but got fed up with the rattles. If you are looking for fuel economy, then the E - Class CDI is the way forward. If you want a relaxing drive and toys to play with then the Lexus. I guess it a matter of what you are looking for. It was a hard choice for me but changed mainly because of the rattles
  3. These are the very things that let Lexus down! I have no regret selling mine and moving on
  4. Take it for a spin and listen out for rattles and squeaks from the rear roof lining, front dash and the front seats. Mine rattled so much that I got rid of it for the Merc E350. Other than that, the Lexus is a lovely car to own and drive only let down by the annoying rattles. Good luck
  5. I sold my GS300 for the main reason. Creeks from the rear when the weather is hot and from the dash. Car visited dealership over 4 times and after the warranty run out, Lexus was asking for a fortune to fix something that they should have fixed from day one. I now have the Merc E350 CDI sport and have no regret
  6. Having seen the New GS in flesh at Lugano, Switzerland, I have no regret leaving the Lexus world for a Merc. The rear of the new Lexus looks like a BMW, the wing mirrors are not stylish and horrible and the front looks like an Audi. I also think Lexus should have done away with the front fog lights and the rear reflectors and integrate that in the main lights cluster. The interior is very Lexus like. Very nice but too many buttons which I think is a bit much. I have no doubt the Lexus will drive good but that distinctiveness of a Lexus has been lost. The twin chrome exhaust pipes has been left out and that unique styling! Look back at the IS 200. That was beautiful and still is. I also hope Lexus have got it on the spot with the rattles on the out going models.
  7. Having lived with rattles and nearly 7 years of ownership, I have decided to opt for the E350 CDI. I have driven it and love it but less toys compared to the Lex. Any thoughts on the E Class?
  8. why cant Lexus get things right the first time? The IS and GS has recalls and rattles now the CT has a recall for something else. Guess time to leave the Lexus world
  9. I think Lexus UK will have to fix these rattles for free consideing it is developed from Day 1
  10. Considering these rattles are known problems to Lexus from day 1, will they fix these rattles if the car is out of warranty? Mine is a 55 plate (Sept 2005) and had the rattles fixed when the car was in warranty but now these rattles are back and the whole cabin and front passenger door feels like it's falling apart.
  11. Could someone confirm if the 2005 Model GS300 SE (Latest Shape)uses chain or a cam belt? How could one tell by visually inspecting the engine?
  12. I always use the hand brake as advised by Lexus. I park on the hill and was asked to put the gear in Neutral, press the handbrake to take the weight of the car and finally push the lever to P. This helps to maintain the life span of the gear box as the weight of the car does not rest on the gear box
  13. I will speak to Lexus Customer Car. Was having condensation in the front passenger headlamp unit and passenger wing mirror will not move in and out. when I spoke to Lex Cust care, I was told to take the care to my local dealer where the parts were ordered and fitted. I had to pay for the labour and Lexus paid for the parts or vice versa if I can remember
  14. I saw two of the CT's on the road over the weekend and they look better than I thought. Well Done Lexus. BMW bring the fight on!
  15. Thanks for all your replies. I purchased a disposable table cloth and placed it underneath the engine and there was no drop of oil. I have double checked the coolant to determine if it is murky and it looks as pinkish as it was from day 1. I started the beast and placed white tissues over the twin pipes to see if there will be any decolouration and this was as clean. So where is the missing oil? Only conclusion is not enough was put in!
  16. In all honesty, I never have never checked oil or fluid levels nearly 6 yrs owning the car. I have always serviced the car at Lexus Croydon without any problems. I found Lexus Reading a lot cheaper than Lexus Croydon adn therfore decided to use thm in my last two sercices only to my horror to find low oil leve. There is no sign of leakage or smoke coming from either of the twin exhaust pipes except for steam on cold mornings. I guess I will have to do weekly checks of fluid levels going forward
  17. The only explanation that I have is that Lexus Reading did not put enough oil in. The engine is fine, no smoke at all and I have checked where I park and no sign of leakage. I have the car booked in on 19th Mar for the recall work to be carried out and have mentioned it to them.
  18. I was 30 seconds away driving home lastnight when the low Engine oil level warning light came on. I parked and left the car overnight and this morning, to my horror and supprise, there was not a drop of oile in the car. I have only done 6K miles since the last service at Lexus Reading in June last yr. Question is should this happen? Could there be a leak? This also happened last two services and nothing was found unusual. Car has 46K on the clock and 05 model. Should a car of this mileage be loosing oil? Regards
  19. Local dealer does not have the parts in place. Hence booked to take the car to Reading to have it sorted
  20. Has anyone had their cars fixed re the latest recall? I contacted local dealers only to be told they are still waiting for parts. Why is it taking too long?
  21. Has anyone ordered a Sat Nav DVD from http://www.sat-navi.com/?gclid=CJC-sdaEsqcCFcJP4Qod90I5_Q I need to have an updated disk on my 2005 GS. Can anyone point me to a place where I can source one not at dealer prices?
  22. Similar boat. Had this issue a while back. Lexus replaced the whole unit. £220 odd plus Ouch! How old is the baby?
  23. I bought mine from ebay and the item was located Germany. Cost 100quid for 2 bulbs plus the postage. I think they are D4S Mercury free. I will find the address for you. so far, problem free
