  2. i would not take a 08 car to a main dealer, i took mine to a small local indy, his garage is tiny but his work is very good, and thats all that matters to me.
  3. ouch, hope its not too expensive. I soldered my po40 connections, and used heat shrink, works perfect still. top marks to Mike for a fast response.
  4. if you don't have self levelling motor or washers that could be a problem for a MOT, forget what Mercedes are using just get a osram night breaker to be honest, legal and quick fix.
  5. started fine guys. was a big change from my moms 1.2 clio i had in Ireland.......
  6. i have not noticed much of an oil drop in 6 month interval between changes, perhaps a slight drop off the to marker but certainly not much. I used 5/30 Magnatec but more recently 5/30 edge.
  7. Keep the 250 (if its an auto)as any diesel will feel so unrefined after it. After a year there wont be much difference in cost, taking into account fuel price, servicing ect alas, if only other people could think like this before they go getting tractors.
  8. Guys, I am heading back to work on the 5th, so my car will be unused from Dec 20th to Jan4th, its in an underground park. Should I be concerned about the battery? up to now the car has started without fail. I need the car on the 4th to get back to my gaff, It sunday so I would be stuck in a bit of bother if it did not start.!
  9. did not even know about this warning, I keep my washer topped up frequently though, I like a clean window..
  10. I saw pink ish dried fluid near my pump, I had it replaced recently, not a very big job, indeed my coolant was not even low but better safe than sorry and not a terribly expensive job to get done. Just get the blue print part on ebay its been discussed here.
  11. certainly worth looking out for coolant near the pump, i had to get mine done @ 55k miles ish.
  12. go to google contact, export can do csv or vcard, not sure which one i used just use both and see which is best. email that contact to yourself, download onto your phone and bluetooth it to the headunit, all the contacts will then appear on the headunit now, my drink i like belgian beer. :) https://www.dropbox.com/s/esy1vj92f6pzz9q/tempFileForShare_2014-12-02-20-50-40.jpg?dl=0
  13. go to google contacts and send a .csv to your MM unit via bluetooth, it will take all the contacts in 1 fell swoop. buy me a drink later. :)
  14. the cogs on the motors, pretty sure they are f-----d. no easy fix, if at all. I would be inclined to put on 08+ mirrors.
  15. I put my details in, nothing came back. I had to put in my old original reg (have a personal reg, lexus data base would not recognise it). Not sure do lexus have my correct details but this result came up ok anyway. Step 3: Confirmation We are pleased to confirm that your Lexus is not affected by any voluntary customer service campaigns or outstanding safety recalls and no further action is required. 16. the roads in England are nothing short of a disgrace, I am Irish and pretty used to rubbish roads, I would expect more tbh from a relatively wealthy economy of a large population. Southampton has some shocking roads, I regularly have to thread through roads in and around the city. For me getting nice expensive alloys is a no, just not worth the money with the condition of the roads in general. That damage could be costly, did you take a photo, get a claim on the council. Don't give me this crap on councils having no cash, we all pay a crap load of taxes every year, how much does tarmac and a few trucks cost.
  17. garages always refuse to accept blame, the onus is on you i am affraid. I took a 2.4 honda accord a few years back to some clown to get a clutch done (no easy job on them cars by all accounts), long story short, I got the car back (eventually) with a light on the dash (!), was a dead wheel sensor, no coincidence it was the side that needed to be removed to access the clutch. had to get a new wheel sensor myself, garage having none of it, clearly they broke it taking off the wheel. I would totally agree that its very unlikely for that door sensor to fail just like that.
  18. ive never heard a chirp on any uk cars, only on usa ones (on tv), are americans a tone deaf ?; :p
  19. great gadget, as for the chirp sound. I'm sure you can get that function done from a lexus dealer, the uk cars dont use it, but its there im sure, just not activated.
  20. only idiots use them, your car is worth whatever anyone is prepared to buy, as a ball mark i would say between 6-7k for a quick sale, probably worth a bit over that if you held out depending on condition etc.
