  1. Guys In light of the incident with my car has anyone thoughts on some decent dash cams that will facilitate some parking mode coverage? I am not sure how this would work as some inbreds could approach the car from any angle? not necessarily from the front/rear. I came across this https://www.joovuu.com/gb/home/206-motion-detection-car-accessory.html would it be a good match with a black vue? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blackvue-DR650GW-2CH-16GB-Full-HD-Front-and-Rear-Wi-Fi-GPS-In-Car-Camera-Dashcam-/261744654750?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cf132799e cheers
  2. I dont think its his PO40, he has had it removed, it looks like one of them mare electrical issues you could be days at. I would take it to an auto electrician and agree on a rate.
  3. tbh, you are wasting your time taking a 06 lexus to a main dealer, (yours is 06?), going to a decent local electrical guy might be better, its an electrical fault not a mechanical one. the labour costs would not justify taking a 9 year old car to a main dealers.
  4. I will try the south, thanks. Really appreciate your help but I would be reluctant to let you drive down so far.!
  5. replacing it for a new car is a bit OTT..! Keep us updated on the loom, have you got a replacement car?
  6. i would be wary of trying to blag a bargain lexus in that year for 5k, more often that not them cars dont turn out to be bargains at all. running costs on the 250 are meh, its not exactly an oil tanker to run. its no worse to me than the 2.4 accord i had previously.
  7. thanks boss, I live in an apartment complex (where I think it happened!), have no access to anything to wash my car let alone polishing etc. I can try that website, I have better things to do with myself that fix this due to some ******$.

  10. This is a pic, I be dammed if I pay 300quid to fix this due to some idiot..
  11. So it looks like some muppet keyed my rear passenger door, drivers side. That or some door whacked against it, I think its the former. I can feel the primer. How much will this ****ers actions cost me? Assuming the worst and a whole door. Idiots who do this crap should be put in the firing line.
  12. pretty sure all the relays and actuators on both doors and mirrors etc have fuses, its something i would ask the lexus guys also. The part blown looks like a diode or capacitor, why did it blow? probably because its ratings were exceeded probably, in fact you are rather lucky it could have smoked the whole car if you were really unlucky as the damage to that part of circuit board looks well and truly toast
  13. why has a fuse not blown, rather than the junction box? after seeing the diagrams Mike put up I wish you well in finding the fix!! :$ I have a PO40 installed and have noticed no problems, the only way I could see that being an issue if there was a poor connection or a short to ground but that seems ruled out.
  14. sorry to hear that, are you sure its not the PO40? might be worth taking that off, i am pretty sure that is what Lexus will do also to rule it out. That green gunk stuff on the PCB is probably epoxy or resin of sort used on screws, I see it often.
  15. that part that is burned out, the main component looks to be a capacitor or some other relatively high footprint count smd component, it could also be a diode of sorts. I have a masters in Electronics myself so these things are interesting to me/ but i need to draw the line when they are just black blobs...
  16. is that part on the door? from what I can see it could be due to water ingress, a short circuit of sorts? that part that is at the epicentre of the burn out could be a diode or a capacitor, perhaps?
  17. if the wire is connected in the amp in the boot, you said its ok, then it is the back of the head unit you need to get to, so not really an easy fix the hardest part of taking it out is prising it past the vents, trust me..... but its doable, i done it a few times. set aside a few hours at the weekend and you can get this done, its not like you are taking the engine apart :p

  19. this is quite heavy, and its cumbersome to take out. the Manual requires the gear stick surrounds be taken off differently than the autos (found out this the hard way), other than that the ML unit held in with 4 bolts, the vents near the top have notches that need to be dislodged then you can prise it out.
