  1. I had to get a new screen on mine, its a easy enough fix, the whole unit does not need to go, just the touch screen part. I would kick up a right fuss with Lexus. Its a known issue on these cars and they should know that themselves.
  2. whats the latest with this? pretty sure it needs a new digitizer.
  3. LS400 cars will be still going when we are all dead I think.
  4. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/71757-replace-rear-power-sun-shade/ might be relevant to is250..? OK - I delayed long enough. Got around to replacing the sunshade today. The directions in the thread regarding replacing the subwoffer are spot on and get you 99% there. I'll add the following comments as respects the sunshade replacement: 1) As noted in the subwoffer thread, removing the seat back is a royal PITA. Get someone to help you 2)Removal of the latch anchor bar on the passanger side - not really necessary if you have the tools to get at the seat belt anchor bolt which lies under neath it. I did not remove it and it did not create any issues. 3) I removed the sholder harness retainers from the top of the seat back (3 screws on the two end ones, 2 screws in the center one. This allowed me to completely remove the seat back from the car 4) With a sunshade, the rear deck lid is split at the sunshade. Two clips hold the front section in place. Follow the directions in the sub woffer thread to remove it. To remove it, you really need to also remove the trim pieces from the two sides as they wrap the deck lid on the front. Not an issue. Be careful but they pop off fairly easily. I also pushed the sholder harness througn the deck lid so that I could completely remove it. There is a trim piece where the harness goes through the deck lid. This pops off easily. Just thread the harness through the opening. 5) I removed the center brake light. Slide it towards the passenger side and slip your finger under it. Pops right off. Unplug the light. 6) The rear portion of the deck lid comes off very easily. There are 4 plastic clips that fit into slots in the sunscreen body 7) 6 bolts hold the sunscreen in place - 4 on the back side, 2 on the front. It's kind of tight. Helps to have a spotter on the outside pointing out the location of the bolts. The 2 in each rear corner are a pain to get at due to the proximity of the glass. 8) Reassemble. Raise and lower the sunscreen after each piece of trim is installed to be certain that it doesn't hang up on anything. Took me about 3 hours. Thanks to everyone for their feedback and support.
  5. if the relay clicks then the motor driving that blind is not getting activated, where is this motor?
  6. well it was around the price i would have paid myself. I think many of the older ones are too expensive myself. Good luck with the new motor.
  7. that 2010 white one, I was looking at that. Cracking car! I want one but too soon, next year I am thinking of getting one. Went for a good price too.
  8. newbie has this done, looks like denso sensors needed? he will chip in i am sure.
  9. well at that price i had difficulty in not clicking buy. Its on my car now and looks as good as photos, and is on rock solid. Painted in my colour code upon arrival. no front lip...!
  10. I got this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171703468287?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  11. crisis averted! Guy up the road here got it off on his ramp, he used the toyota removal tool with 3 notches, aluminium one. Guess the one my brother had was not sufficent ,plus working from the ground not enough go on it. thanks for the tips here.
  12. my brother has all the correct sockets for the housing, it was not playing ball. I hope under a ramp it can be more easily done, out of interest that filter, is it part of the main engine block? I am pretty sure if it crakced the engine is fubared. Just curious question as it looks pretty precarious dangling out there.
  13. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/93286-oil-filter-to-tight/ I seen this, so you guys reckon this can come off on a ramp? Looks way too tight as my brother would normally do this in a minute. I was holding a crow bar against the block to counteract his force in trying to get it off, to protect the block. It was not moving at all. what an idiot, the thing about this is the guy who dont it last year will say it was fine or something along those lines.
  14. Guys, My brother was doing an oil change and noticed the housing was way too tight. He said it looked like it was never removed or else the guy never lubed up the o ring last time it was done. I had oil/filter done last september by my local mechanic in Southampton. My brother was worried about cracking the aluminium block, even his oil wrench removal nut was stuck onto the housing, he could not get it off. He is trying to get onto a mechanic here who has a garage and a ramp, hope I can get it sorted before my ferry back Saturday night (on vacation in Ireland now) really surprised about this, what did that mechanic do last year to this? Cheers.
  15. I have fixed my 'frozen screen' I can help if you can pay a trip down south. I got a new screen replacement, did not do the touch up pen method.
  16. its either 291mm or 310mm, the latter is vented. I know this because I put on MTEC discs lately and they were 310
  17. i gave him £40 for fitting the spoiler and touching up the front wheel, He said he did not want to get involved in wiring lights, said safety etc etc. Would these trip the VSC lights etc? canbus errors?
  18. haha, think so. I will report back, If I need to drill holes into the car safe to say they will be going back.
  19. guys, I took my car to a body shop to stick on rear reflector LEDs, went to collect and nothing done. nada He was gone home so could not speak to him, I had a rate of 110 arranged to do the rear lights, fit lip spoiler and touch up my front alloy. I had a quote of 100 from another garage for lights alone. Why did he not do these lights? I would think it easy, bumper off and wire into the rear terminals? Am i underestimating this work? (can you even wire them up like that, - canbus?) I am going on holidays at weekend and can try this in my own garage, but wondering why it was not carried out today.
