tbh, I would rather spend £900 a year on tax than drive a 220d. If people worry so much on saving this that and the other thing, do they also skimp on tyres, maintenance...etc etc. Motoring is a pretty expensive business but I know I am sat in a very reliable and comfortable car at the end of the day and thats good enough for me.

should have bought a is250, do people buy diesels to save on tax as I cant see any other reason?. Economy is marginal between both.

I would say the Vauxhall and Lexus are at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of build quality and interior trim.

You cannot 'pass' on it though. It's a built in feature of the car, likely so that is can earn the 5 star NCAP rating. But sounds like Lexus haven't implented the collision activation well enough. If a impact that doesn't even damage the bumper can set it off, that's not good design. Equally another fourm member had the front of their bumper badly damaged but the system didn't activate.... do all new ish cars have this?, to me its on my cross off list along with auto stop/start. Far too much hassle and flaws and trouble, again I seriously doubt your insurance will be reduced due to having a pop up bonnet. Most new cars are beginning to get this feature now. I think it only pops in certain situations. My wife pranged the IS and the pop up hood didn't deploy even though the bumper is slightly dropped and deformed. As with all things there will be some which go wrong from what i have seen this is not exactly true and is prone to getting activated inadvertently by events other than a guy's head bashing the bonnet. But there's your mistake, as of 25th NOV 2015, there are nearly 7000 IS300h's registered. Ive only come across maybe 3 cases on the forum (which, lets face it, is where everyone goes when they have problems). Even if you extrapolate it and say 10 cases of pop up bonnet failures, its 1/700 x 100 = 0.14 % of cars affected! Thats practically NOTHING. There's more chance of the TPMS going wrong. try telling that to the owners, how long before one of these ridiculous pop up bonnets goes off on its own accord and caused the driver to have a crash injuring him/her self and/or others in the process.

My thoughts are ill pass on a pop up bonnet. I doubt it has any impact on insurance at all in any event.

ATS dont do full 4 wheel alignment, just go to a place who does.

Don't really get the bad reputation with manual boxes. Mine is manual and it's fine. If you had a uprated clutch and flywheel it would be very nice indeed.

What a waste of time these things. Are they standard on new cars or optional? Is there scientific or whatever evidence of them of actually doing anything?!

I fixed my broken nav in a few hours, just got a new touch screen, that is brutal service from Lexus.

Guys, I am thinking of buying one of these beasts, has anyone thoughts on them? It will be a 05 reg with low ish miles, 60k or less. Thats my aim. I like the idea of a sleepy old cruiser with a v8 powerplant. Most places give warranties. I am finding it hard to get a one with BOSE from a dealer that will do a good p/ex though. Cheers.

you need to get to lexus to program the alarm, my car unlocks the drivers door only on 1st press, on the 2nd press it will unlock the other doors lexus can do whatever settings you wish, Not sure can this be done at home.

my 2008 is250 is better than that one, some dealers are just wasters. Its pretty evident from the outset with scary high miles, a dealer lying about its actual milage and probably fake stamps. Besides you can get a pretty decent advance for a bit north of 10k.

breaker yards are not the place to go for lexus stuff, parts are hard enough to get from shops themselves without resorting to importing.

Why buy a Lexus from a dealer who cant be honest on the cars actual miles. Be crazy to buy that.

indeed, you cant 'chip' a IS250 in the first place. If you want performance you need a ISF. I use shell Nitro fuel every time, is it for performance gain or more horses? No but it does keep the car running smooth and trouble free so that does it for me.

how hard is it to order a sat nav. That is awful service from Lexus.

I got a k&n typhoon., the sound is fantastic. In this age of stupid diesel cars everywhere having a somewhat decent v6 with a nice growl is superb.
