  1. No offence but seems pointless getting anything across to you. With many people in the UK concerned on road tax I would be pretty certain that the is250 Manual being second highest tax band is not doing itself any favours. You never drove a manual so stop letting on you did. I never drove a diesel, manual or auto as i have more sense than others.
  2. you constantly bash Manuals, you never even have driven a manual petrol ?. I cant comment on auto boxes as I have never driven one but I don't be saying they are worse than manuals,! just saying .... manual petrol's are rarer in the UK due to tax reasons more than anything I would gather. I strongly suggest you go for a drive in a manual, preferably one with a CAI so you have hear the V6 at your leisure.
  3. have you ever driven a manual is250? and don't go telling me you drove a manual diesel.
  4. i had a 2.4 Accord prior to my Lexus, albeit a 7th Gen. The Lexus far better, i almost did buy a 8th gen 2.4 but the spec and gadgets on the Lexus trumped anything on the range topping ex trim on the accord, I have no doubt the Lexus is much better also. My standards since buying this car have gone up a notch or 2 as I am looking out for a cl55 now. btw, I get better mpg on my is250 than my old accord.
  5. I have been driving around Southampton since June 2014 and have clocked up a grand total of 13k miles up to now, my bodily parts are still intact (left leg included) and by all accounts traffic in Southampton is not pleasant, at all.
  6. if you have read this thread it should be pretty obvious which one to buy.
  7. diesels are pants, the engine is basically shoehorned from a toyota avensis or whatever monstrosity they use. The is250 is very refined and smooth and as reliable a car you can get. I have had mine since 2014 and its the best car I have had from my extensive list of motors, I have itchy feet now and want to buy a 500+hp CL55 Kompressor, mid life crisis maybe. My car is a manual - people keep harping on about a manual but its absolutely fine, horses for courses and all that. If you are down in Southampton you are welcome to take mine for a drive.
  8. I only seen a few is250s on the road in my almost 2 years of ownership in the south east. Clearly the UK has been missing out.
  9. That's a SEL model over in the UK. As everyone pointed out, the is250 is a smashing car, you wont go driving 'lesser' cars once you own it. For a car packed with tech its probably the most reliable car you can get, the sticky calipers is an issue with them and also the water pump is prone to failing, other than that enjoy.
  10. I see terrible driving on a daily basis, so bad its was hard for me not to get a dash cam My insurance have given a reduction also. Driving is gradually getting worse each year it seems.
  11. having all different brands is not so clever, less so if they are Chinese ditch finders. The best hunters tracking in the world wont mitigate for crap rubber.
  12. Without reading or delving into this much, I would imagine this is more relevant for diesels with all the particle filters and egr valves they have to deal with. Modern petrol engines IMO don't need any additives at all, regular oil changes is sufficient for them for the life of the car.
  13. don't want to be obnoxious but it doesn't have ML branding and its for a diesel model so wont do a petrol. Just saying... Perhaps new facelift ML sat navs are the same as that, I cannot say but mine is entirely different.
  14. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laser-Tools-Oil-Filter-Wrench-65mm-x-14-Flutes-5160-/111604192815?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 you are going to do more damage than good if you dont do as i pointed out a few times already, get it to a place with a ramp and make sure they have the correct tool above to take it off
  15. there are some jobs where you need proper tools, this being one of them. Unfortunately the over torqued oil housing means it will be practically impossible to remove yourself, been there myself a year ago.
  16. the car needs to be on a ramp, fully over your head. Then you can exert enough force to get that oil socket off, you are just going to make the job worse if you dont get to a ramp. I would leave it alone and take to a garage.
  17. im not saying you are not able, what I am saying is that you wont get that off lying on your arse, you need to get it onto a ramp. Also you need the proper tool to bite the socket, i dont know if you have used it? Its weird that lexus over did that.
  18. and you think that would be any better than playing over aux? to get true surround sound you need to get it processed by a dsp, a usb wont do that.
  19. how do you expect a usb port to give you surround sound? you are not making any sense.
