  1. did you do any research on this at all prior to purchase? surely a 220d would rank as one of the cars NOT for a student? having said that i hope you are one of the lucky ones
  2. Ive had a is250 and always used V Power, every single time. Sure it costs more but the upshot is that the car never ever was sluggish, was responsive, passed every MOT and basicaly was trouble free and that was good enough for me. My current Subaru 3.0R also gets the same treatment and again, trouble free and passed a MOT a few months back with no advisories, and boy does this go, even if my mpg would make a grown man weep..
  3. Diesel cars reek, the sooner they are off the planet the better. Driving behind a smoking diesel is not good for anyone and walking the footpaths of our cities and towns is obvious from a few of your senses what cars are passing by. As for your 220D, should sell it while it is still drivable is my opinion and look for something else.
  4. I've had a 2.4 Accord, the Lexus is250 i had was much nicer place to be inside and the ML head unit is great. If you are looking at newer Accords they dont have much grunt and the Lexus itself is not very fast itself but a nice place to be as already pointed out aside from a CAI or such you cant increase the hp of the lexus at all and its one of the drawbacks for me and why I sold it for a much more spirited Subaru.
  5. Its a horrific engine, I get my Legacy with its silky smooth boxer 6 washed at a local wash and the lads own a 220d there... I can hear that thing about a mile away and its only ticking over. For a tractor is probably acceptable, a Lexus?
  6. The 220d has a brutal agri D4D engine in it, is anyone surprised its a terrible car. No one likes slating other peoples cars but Lexus made some almighty balls up in the 220d.
  7. what the hell is siri eyes,? with my phone i only need to call out 'ok google' and it can respond to you, even when when in sleep mode. And this is out a few years now
  8. That is cheap, location location.... Must be great to enjoy a peaceful life up in Scotland and vast swaythes of road to drive on unlike down in England.
  9. If you had an Android you would only have to say 'ok google'. I thought IPhones had the best user experience interface going?
  10. going to be next to impossible to tune or remap a 300H, dont know why its even suggested.
  11. Subaru SAWD is awesome too. http://www.manchestersubaru.com/subaru-symmetrical-all-wheel-drive.htm
  12. tbh, dont think welding an exhaust is for the novice, too much to go wrong.!
  13. I have 2 degrees and a Masters also, another brain dead zombie here.
  14. just reading this now, what year was the car and cost? i agree that the guy must be hiding something, its pretty normal for people to discuss cars for sale. Looks like a shady individual.
  15. insurance is a joke, i have had to move to different insurers for the last 3 years due to them being rip off idiots. Adrian Flux being one of the insurers and Chris Knott being another. I am talking about premiums going up quite a few hundred pounds for no obvious reason. I am now with a different insurer and full well expect to move to someone else later this year.
  16. Citroen, common. Any car enthuaist wont buy a Citroen. I dont care if they had Espresso makers in the glove box back in 2000.
  17. buying a BMW 5 series of that age ? better get on very good terms with a mechanic. You could easily throw a few grand on that on repairs without even thinking.
  18. Most of them will own 220Ds i would imagine due to the tax.
  19. good luck with the Legend, I was close to getting one myself just a few months back but got a 3.0R Spec B Legacy instead, it too has a brilliant All wheel drive system and its a hoot to drive. Legends are fantastic but parts can be eye watering, so its something to watch out for. You cant get parts for this in a motorfactors (aside from consumables). MPG between that and my Subaru wont be that much difference but the Legend will be far more comfy. Driving rare and off the wall cars is cool and bucks the trend of what most people have with boring soulless cars. Post up pics, in the mean time some photos from Simply Japanese Fest...
  20. well Linas.P seems to have an answer for everything so I am just making him work for it. Brexit, I think the UK is a bit funked, governments fault for not having a decent immigration system in place, having notices on the government website about benefits and the such on offer to people is not the way to go. I am Irish and since I moved to England in 2011 I have paid thousands and thousands in Tax and not claimed a penny from the state. I have spent loads taxing manual cars though...
  21. consider this, since you are the expert in auto v manuals! Its quite probable that Tranny fluid will never be changed in the ownership of a car, should someone have the misfortune to own a is250 manual (tongue firmly in cheek). As for clutch failures, show me some posts where clutches were bust on a Lexus? They should last the life of the car, assuming people can drive propely. Auto and Manual is250 cars have pretty much identical running costs, contrary to your expert opinion That brings us to tax, its a bit expensive by a few hundred quid, but expensive enough to put people off them and buying cars on lower VED bands. People worry about car tax, no iffs and no buts. Its one of the reasons why there has been a deluge in people buying diesels over the last decade or so.
