  1. same conundrum here, not sure whether to get a V8 or not before everyone is driving even slower with restricted vehicles and EVs in masses of government controlled sheep
  2. The compass was some American thing I think to remind them in what direction they were heading...🙄 The is250 is a really good car, some bargains can be had
  3. I only ever used Super Unleaded V Power on my Subaru since day 1, actually also used on my IS250 SE-L - sure its expensive but my thoughts are 1. I have had zero problems with the engine on either the Subaru (5+ years) or the Lexus - so that is about 7/8 years of driving 2. Throttle response is razor sharp 3. No burning oil (keeping on top of oil changes of course) So that's my 2C, its about a tenner or so more expensive per tank than regular unleaded (before the change to E10) but I only ever use it, and will be using it in my next car also, so no watered down fuel for me shell sent me this in those shell drivers club things, I don't know if they were taking the mickey or not...
  4. F Sport? probably an optional upgrade then, No burn outs on my Scoobie, rather hard with Permanent AWD and 50:50 split!
  5. well that's what I meant, I am sure its an open type that is used, My Subaru has a real LSD and boy do you know when you drive it - even the ISF has only an e diff up until 2011 or something when they fitted a Torsen one so I doubt the IS250 has anything
  6. Congrats on the purchase, we told you so 👌 As for LSD, its a complicated part or can be as there are many types -Torsen, Viscous, open etc.. A Torsen LSD should spin one wheel in the opposite direction if they are both off the ground, or at least my Subaru does
  7. But drive a decent 6 cylinder NA car and tell me you would prefer the 220d? I can only imagine people buy them as they got similar looks to the IS250 and for VED incentives but that is really where it ends, the D4D engine is not a good match for a car like a Lexus who pride themselves on refinement, terrible in fact
  8. If the rest of the car is solid I would find a decent garage and ask them to investigate - NOT LEXUS...why people take cars of this age to Lexus is astounding A reputable skilled garage will either tell you it can be fixed and this is the cost or they will say its a write off
  9. I guess you read nothing anyone else or myself said? sometimes why bother....
  10. Yes, but I said no two people are alike - I said it works, the manual but I have driven probably more cars in my history than you - the Subaru has a close ratio gear box, 2nd hand ones will cost four figures and its a totally different style of transmission but I am glad you like your new car. I should point out the close ratio style used in the Subaru is not for everyone, I know of someone who bought one and hated and ended up with an auto
  11. its unusual for these to fail, if you are absolutely sure no flush was carried out and ATF has been on the point I would push for lexus to look into it
  12. did you ever do a 'transmission flush...'?? these units should last the life of the car, assuming regular gear oil is used - if they break there is usually a reason
  13. probably from his family or his one of multiple user accounts
  14. You can get LS460s for pretty stupid money, its a different class of motor vehicle and your level of comfort will far exceed your initial thoughts.
  15. I had a IS250, in a manual and my 2C Its a very poor box and had I known I would have got something else. so this begs the question, what is a poor manual? well for me its sluggish and unresponsive gear changes.. the car itself was fine... actually too fine as I found it too sedate and sold it after about a year and a half or so for a Merc CL55 AMG, I wanted something a bit exciting and the Merc delivered, for about a month and I found it a money pit so the dealer arrived on my work place and gave my cash back and having been sick of German cars I got a rather unusual car that I actually eyed up before I purchased the Lexus, a 3 litre Subaru SpecB with a manual, but its a different kettle of fish to the Lexus, both the car and the gearbox - it has the same 6 speed box as the STi and it a more driver oriented car - I approve, the wife not so much So, to answer your question as no 2 people are alike - the Lexus i250 manual works, but its not a great drive, for me anyway. The car itself is fine, just check the service - its the same with any car, I had zero issues with my car, Its a Lexus after all
  16. Driving cars can be a pleasure, I had a Lexus IS250 and it was fantastic but a bit too refined for me and I got a Subaru Legacy SpecB and that over 5 years ago - which says how good the Subaru is, I need around 30k to find something I feel will be a decent replacement, anyway what I am trying to say driving cars can be amazing - get rid of your Is220d and buy something else - life is too short. I would not have a 220d for 1 day
  17. That is around the going rate for plugs, I replaced them on my Subaru earlier this year - NGK laser Iridium is what the manual says so that is what I got - 6 cost me £55 and about 2 1/2 hours of my time
  18. I wouldn't spend 30 quid on spark plugs for a Lexus and don't see why people cut corners on such parts but it isn't my car
  19. They look to be replicator OEM parts, I doubt that Denso actually make them but maybe you got lucky.
