Should add it was £2.09/L Could be worse... Sri Lanka: 'I've spent 10 days in line for petrol'

Norway has amazing scenery for sure. Regarding EVs, the range is a bit... ???? and the Tesla fast charge is very good but if you cannot get fast charge points (which are soaring in price) then what does one do? stay in a lodge overnight? if you run all your gadgets in the car how long will it last, I can get over 400 miles on my Subaru driving at or above the NSL that is with AC on and navi unit and its sound system on, my point is you will be always worried about charging it up and how long it will take - it’s not making for a very enjoyable road trip. And a Tesla is expensive, its range will be better than most EVs that do not have the luxury of a 70+ kWh battery pack. The range as already mentioned will be vastly exaggerated and real-world conditions will yield far less. Then there is the lacklustre driving experience with EVs – if you are doing road trips you want a car than can do B roads with great driving dynamics, an EV with a huge battery pack wont quite work. The Model Y pack is over half a tonne.

I topped up a while ago, Shell E5, £105.43 - with my 3% discount I save a whopping £3.16. That is for 52.48L so should last me till the end of the month, if lucky

That is the crux of the problem as governments were very kind to sign up everyone to this revolution without any public ballot or say in things. Combustion cars have been around since the 1800s, and are not the sole responsibility for greenhous gases - around 80-90% of emissions are due to reasons other than the famous combustion engine yet everyone needs to buy an electric car. The problem is you cannot convince people to believe other than what we are told by media

Do you know this for a fact? I wouldnt trust a EV for a road trip, no chance in hell - road trips are about relaxing and enjoying new scenery and not worrying about your battery running out or spending hours waiting for it to charge up again - providing you have a charger, you probably cannot use AC either as it will zap the battery even worse. Having a nice sounding petrol engine is another 'nice to have' for these trips The problem is once again people listening to what these experts say, diesel gate... remember that? VAG were lying about emissions, the mpg of cars? they lied about that also - using ambitious figures in driving conditions that are not realistic in the real world - only to find out in reality that the mpg is much worse The problem with batteries is ohms law -- I suggest you google it and understand that when resistance goes up current goes down. Batteries get hot, very hot which is why they need elaborate cooling and as they get hot the internal resistance goes up, and they cannot drive them great big electric motors any more - now we have all manner of electronic wizardy going on that will prolong batteries but ultimately you are up against it the minute you sit in the car Driving an EV anyway quick will see the range plummet even further. https://latestpagenews.com/technology/moan-on-the-range-warning-to-drivers-buying-electric-cars-as-their-range-is-up-to-100-miles-less-than-advertised-best-and-worst-brands/

The wild atlantic way -- I have traversed most of it, really amazing scenery - like this I also drove along the great ocean road in Vic/Aus which is one of the worlds great scenic drives but Ireland is not far off

Its hot and way too hot to contemplate washing a car - 27C now where I am with 30C predicted today - 37C tomorrow and 33C Tuesday. What is going on? well I think you will find such temperatures scatered across the world all the time - google heatwave in europe and see what comes up - in the 70s, 80s, 90s...all the time that is what. it was almost 50C in Melbourne in 2002, I was there in March of that year. 700Million people live in Australia and SE Asia and experience weather hotter than this all the time - no state of emergency going on there Besides it will be no doubt ****** rain in a few weeks time so make the most of it, and if you have a good camera enjoy the lightning shots next week - but this is too good an opportunity for science experts to remind people to buy an electric car, I see BMW charging a monthly fee to turn on heated seats, this is the digital future that we have signed up to - well governments have been so kind to sign up on our bahalf. People should be more worried about what else can they do the car while you are driving it because we will soon be way past the stage where the driver is in control.

I see energy companies may hike up bills to over 3 grand a year in the winter, absolutely codswallop - the obvious question is if these companies are struggling so much why are they posting record busting billion dollar quarterly profits? Nothing quite adds up If you watch air crash investigation the tag line when disaster strikes, question everything. The problem with society over the last few years is nobody is asking any questions, at all.

What is the range doing 60/70mph constant? looks like we have a prime candiate here to fill us in - if you can get 300 odd miles its pretty good going tbf, if your stupid speeds on an autobahn is a 10 second burst to 80mph before backing off into the inside lane, well that is a bit short of the steady 35mpg I can do at 80mph. A 2022 Jag I Pace done 195 miles at 70mph from a road test Before anyone asks -- who is this, Lewis Hamilton? well no, but unless you want to forever be driving at 50mph, which looks to be the direction the Government are going, I would be keen to see how they would behave if driven a bit brisk, ie to the speed limit - I have not even factored in towing anything

People die of stuff all the time, every year before covid - heart disease kills almost 20 million each year, the flu over half a million, when covid occured its like every death is attributed to covid, even a 96 year old person on their last legs or someone who had pre existing health conditioons - cause of death ? covid, and obesity is terrible in the western world and the UK so people in that category will most likely have pre existing condtions, diabetes and so forth but the cause of death is covid. I am wondering why there is not more transparency into the advese reactiions and deaths associated with vaccines - and why no body is allowed even mention it, say it and someone will most likely say to get a grip and stop talking nonsense - really.? In fact its pretty much the same with climate change - not by conicidence either

MOAN ON THE RANGE Warning to drivers buying electric cars as their range is up to 100 MILES less than advertised – best and worst brands They found the vehicles had an average range of 192 miles, compared to the 238 miles found in manufacturer testing. There is a good reason why Scotty Kilmer hasnt got many or any EVs to review - all they brag about is 0-60, yeah we know they are nippy off the line but that is where it ends Until I can get a EV that is comparable with the performance from my 14 year old 6 cylinder combustion engine - I am out And my guess is that the range above, 192 miles would be even less if you drove to the NSL - more like 160miles or less before you need to charge it up, so you will be forever looking for a charge point Yes but if the Tesla breaks down (and they have woeful build quality and Quality Control) it will cost an arm and a leg to put right. The Tesla charging is one of the best on the market but how many are in the UK and how hard will you be looking for one....that works.? And EV charge points will get taken up my more and more dodge third parties just like parking companies and will be a law onto themselves with regards to pricing, who knows what they will charge per kw/h or minute. I would be suspicious if the Model Y can do 400 miles while driving anyway fast or with a full suite of creature comforts turned on, a google says near to 330 miles which is still impressive if it can do that I put my hand up but if that is with no AC and driving at 40/50mph holding up everyone, well that is not representative of daily use - then again it probably is. Fast charging is not possible in cold weather also, something to factor in The 75 kWh 360V lithium-ion pack (good for £12k and weighing 550kg) has almost 6000 cells itself Saving the environment its called.

I can only assume you are a rose tinted Tory? LENT

EV Police cars are struggling in Gloucestershire to carry out duties, I would trust a V8 to get further than any useless EV, drive them fast and they are pants - as in useless I challenge anyhone who has a EV to finish ahead of me from Southampton to Edinburgh - actually that is silly, the correct phrase is how many hours behind they will be since I can do it in a full tank, when I can get an Electric car than can do that trip in one go without driving 40 mph and without costing a 6 figure sum to make the trip give me a nudge
-
LENT You seem to be the type of individual who is awaiting a 5th/6th covid booster to save your family and friends without even querying all the people dead from vaccines, no? The BBC were big COVID fans but strangely are not telling us about the pay-outs going on now to victims of the vaccines, but then again if you listen to everything the science experts and government officials say then all is well in the world. BTW: I had covid, so had my triple jabbed wife - I was better after circa 4 days, no different than the cold/flu I had pre covid - she was sick longer.

Politicians and money go hand in hand, going back to the electric cars - with the quite alarming rate that combustion engine cars have got decommissioning across the world it's highly likely that government's have large monetary gain with auto manufacturers to facilitate the roll out of electric cars, they clearly have had meetings long ago about what was to come. Keeping in mind the jobs that will be lost and the fact that combustion engine cars alone are not the entire problem with climate change. And I don't need to mention COVID or do I? Clearly money exchanging hands here and we are talking astronomical amounts at that not forgetting the 400 billion tax payers money spent on it, no wonder inflation is gone through the roof. Diesel, they told us that was the fuel to save the planet not long ago, now it's electric cars. Politicians, not to be trusted.
-
Politicians are only motivated by money, the Tory empire is crumbling now which can only be a good thing.
-
Climate change is a complex world, but government's are using it as a tool to enable the future that is set out. Now electric cars and being an established electronic engineer (just spent the last week doing EMC testing on the product I designed) I can assure you electric cars green credentials are not at all what you are led to believe. So what gives? They are going to be used as a tool to have more control of people, speed restrictions, ownership, location, anything that they need basically - you can see these modern cars already ablaze with this tech and it won't get any better. EVs in 2030 will be pretty scary, the AI and technology loaded onto them, people won't be driving these things anymore, someone else will have more control than the driver itself When combustion engine cars get suddenly decommissioning across the world red flags appear, to me anyway and it's only with the G7 nation's. The same cars that contribute zero greenhouse gases in the UK towards the global footprint, it's not the car that's the sole problem with the climate change, but science expert's, or more precise science expert's paid by said governments that are telling us otherwise. Most of the greenhouse gases are due to 20 or so multinational companies who are seemingly exempt from this yet responsible for over a third of emissions but the responsibility is on me, you and everyone else reading this to buck up and buy an electric car. No one questions anything, that's the problem.
-
Using EVs as a police car is probably the worst possible choice of car, should have kept the Subaru's and EVOs and not play along with this nonsense that's the climate change, net zero and carbon neutral https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/no-charges-police-failed-by-electric-cars-6j7d3mq73
-
What's happening is nothing more than the drive to electric cars by G7 nation's to meet the requirements of UNECE 2030, any excuses they come up with are hogwash. I read about a guy yesterday who said he found it hard not to be smug with the money he was saving from his Electric car. To save this money he took out a loan of £20K

I've been down south and made a beeline to Costco in Southampton, after waiting 20 minutes in the queue the reward was 46.18L for £87.70, that's 97 RON. I filled up as I won't be around Costco for a bit
-
Big tank, wtf do you drive?;
-
They are waiting for the spin the wheel in the head office to land on the rip off price to charge today. My last tank I used Esso and not Shell, alas that cost £2.059 per litre for 99 RON
-
Take it to a proper place who can do alignment, ie not Lexus.. my car has 134 thousand miles, corrosion is nonsense bull. Take your money elsewhere A main dealer, Lexus or otherwise is unlikely to be equipped or concerned with something as tedious as wheel alignment, however it's very important.. obviously, so it's worth seeking out people who do this specifically and have the correct tools to adjust camber and such.
-
Dont need a RR, you need a large fuel tank, mine is 65L - Have been paying in or around £100 for a tank for a while and that is around 50L I filled up with
