  1. Thanks Brian. Is it likely that worn roll bar bushes will produce a "clonk". From my "clonk" expereriences it's usually something more expensive ie steering bushes, ball joints, suspension, etc. ? Anyone here found roll bar bushes caused clonking? ps Run132 What about wheel bearing needing tightening?
  2. When you say "D" bushes you are not meaning the Upper Suspension wishbone arm bushes? Different to anti roll bar bushes. Mine are on an advisory and I've checked cheap prices on ebay and also Rock Auto Parts in the States. Preferring American made, than Chinese. Price for these parts seems to vary but you can buy a bush kit, which frankly seems to cost at least half the price of a complete unit.
  3. Did the Mk1 have the cross hatched grill? K28 UPG ? Interesting use of Supra wheels - I had completely forgotten I owned a Supra Mk 3 for a couple of years. Not sure if I like the look of them on the Lexus? Scarce to find these days though a set with odd tyres on ebay at the moment in Stoke on Trent. I'll pass.
  4. Thanks - I forgot I had a copy of the Wiring diagram for a 1990 LS400 and sure enough it shows an Ant Relay on page 19. So assuming same for 1993 model, I should be safe.
  5. When parts arrive from U.S. will be installing a Sony Xplod thats sat around on my shelf for two years. Read a warning that if I have a power Antenna fixing blue wire can damage Antenna if no Relay in circuit. I've installed a few Radios in my time but not seen this warning before. Does the Lexus have a Relay for this Antenna. Any advice on subject? Assuming disconnecting battery at neg. a wise precaution pre installation. Seen the very good help video on installation.
  6. Interseting thread and worth considering - more so if you are driving in Russia - xpect you've all seen this?
  7. glad its sorted - nothing worse than water in boot or under floor mats. The Merc used to suffer from this a lot and I used net curtain wire clear any blockages being plastic covere but flexible.
  8. mixed feelings of happiness then? glad the problem is fixed. Lovely cars those 430's. Its because I looked into one almost the same colour as my own (bronze) that I took the leap from Merc to Lexus after owning five Mercs. Still not totally enchanted with the Lexus but getting there, or will be when a few more things finally fixed.
  9. If those two sensors don't correct the problem, can you insist that they remove them and not charge you for them? Returning the original sensors to their place? Or am I being simplistic as regards the work involved?
  10. sorry, what does DHP stand for? Google says discretionary housing payment!!! I have a pair of clear wing indicators that I prefer to the orange but pending a possible change of wing - have yet to fit. Also, I quite like the non original wheels though I prefer the size to be kept original and not the ultra skinny hard ride. Still considering some old five spoke Half-ords product or those five space wheels on later Lexus. Son horrified at thought of Half-ords and didnt like five half moons either. There's no pleasing todays youth -unless they cost £800. Forget it!
  11. I contacted the seller about a month back about purchasing the front drivers side wing as its the only part on my car with obvious blisterrust - not exposed - yet.. I was quoted a price. As I was going away I left it but phoned yesterday and the guy who has had this ad up for several months said he'd still not sold any parts from it. Why he doesn't try to sell it as a going vehicle he told me was because he thinks he will get more for it for selling the parts abroad. Seems strange and a shame to break a car where he tells me it would pass an MOT with one or two tyres changed. Tells me somone is interested in the engine but would expect £1200 if sold with MOT. I'll have to wait and see. It looks like a new replacement wing (Colopur not taking account of fading) but I have asked, to be sure as I don't want a filled one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-Ls400-Breaking-Only-/181574150173?
