I bought two 4L drums of Mannol and had the Auto box filter changed a few months ago. Used almost one of the drums. Drove 2,500 miles in the Car about three weeks ago and although I'm complaining about the cars general performance I wouldn't put it down to the fluid change. I did check at an Aire after a hundred miles the dipstick to see that there were no bubbles or anything adverse. Looked fine. Did they have the wood steering wheel as an option on the 1993 model? I've looked at Wood S/w for sale in U.S and they do fetch serious money and shipping prohibitive. Not keen on those imitation covers but may give one a try. Told the Radio replacement part is on its way to me and would have been nice to have had a Lexus logo in Medium Burl Wood for the logo on the S/Wheel. Have used the spare part that doesn't match my rear Cigar lighter panel to make a small panel in the Window Remote panel where I keep my old Rover 75 (1955) key fob St Christopher. Will use another part of it to put a bar above the Cassette entry point which is also missing for some inexplicable reason? Will show another photo when finally finished mucking about with it all.

I just pulled out of a Car park with the power button on, so OK it was in a 30mph area and so I didn't floor the accelerator, but the Car changed from first to second to third before it reached 2000rpm. Not exactly the power I was hoping for. Not sure if that Vid was taken on a rolling road. Finding a road where you can do six max throttle drives back to stop, in low and 2nd gear won't be easy, if I understand the principle of what is suggested?

These were the comments stroock63941 year ago how do you get yours to rev so high? 2nd went all the way up to 6400 Bryan Moore11 months ago +stroock6394 if you disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect, and then turn off the a/c and turn on the power button and do about 6 wide open throttle runs through at least 3 gears. it should start revving out more before it shifts.

Messing with the Dash kit so not checked for error codes yet. Saw this on the tube and thought, no way have I ever seen such performance. Forgive my ignorance but to get the sort of gear changes seen in this video you have to be on "Power" setting presumeably. Reading a comment it suggests that performance is rather like battery life where you can gradually reduce the performance/life where it will no longer charge if you don't let it fully discharge before doing a full charge. (Mobile phone or similar batteries). Anyone occasionally do what the comment suggests?

Well, the Dash Kit on first inspection looked very good. On application it is however a bit disappointing. Unless you are willing to spend a fair bit of time with a Craft knife then give it a miss. The Radio part in particular I'm waiting on a "promise" that a replacement will be sent me. As two extra glue tubes didn't arrive as "promised" I'm not holding my breath but I did decide to start installing the rest of the kit. You can see the problems in the photo. A little more space around each knob is desirable as the knobs are inset and so there is no space behind them. Also the buttons are wrongly spaced. There were no problems with the Door handle parts front and back. There was a part which didnt tally to my rear Cigar lighter. It has a wheel hole central and I dont. The double Airvent in the back was OK. The Instrument cluster required some attention unless you are happy to lose the security light. I drilled a hole for it and used a biro end piece to make it look OK. The Air Con panel is faulty in several respects. Firstly, the panel is too tight aound the main switches. Secondly, the various air selection buttons also needed to have a sliver cut at the one nearest to the main switches as it was going to be too tight. Full blow is the button. Thirdly, the strips to show the selection lights are not long enough. Fortunately you can just see half of the lights each side, but annoying that they don't completely show. The Roof light was OK expect for the main opening rocker switch. Just a little more (say 1mm) all around would have been OK. Strangely there was space all around the other switches. There is a Window Remote panel in the Car for which no part was supplied. The Ring for the Ignition switch is not quite the right size. It sticks to 70%. An extra ring was supplied and I dont know if this perhaps sits in the rear Cigar lighter. Not checked. So, as they say a bit of a Curates Egg. Anyone contemplating buying should ignore the advice to remove part of the backing when applying. The glue sticks will dry out if you leave them overnight so some might do the whole job at once but I clearly couldn't. Fortunately I realised I might need more and bought 32fl oz of 3m on t'bay. Came from China and not expensive. Frankly it is very difficult to remove the backing and I removed it all before lining up a piece to the best of my ability. I used a flat iron on the lowest setting and put each part between two pieces of brown paper on a hard surface to apply heat to the red backing. Not many seconds required to warm up the part. Getting the peel started is the difficult part. Craft knife and tweezers or pliars useful. Regret I left feedback as soon as I received the kit but I like what I see so far.

Now you are taxing my memory - did I or didn't I. ??? I took off the Throttle body and decaked it. I have a spare in front of me. Are you talking about the three pipes on top? One marked P, one R and one E I imagine that I did, but it was more than a year ago. Is the one marked E (the very smallest hole to the venturi) for exhaust?

Has anybody cleaned/inspected their EGR Valve? I can imagine that its mainly Diesels get clogged up, but be interesting to know? My Car has pretty clean oil for its age and mileage so not expecting a lot of carbon but the car did have difficulty getting through MOT first year of ownership with Emissions issue. Cleaning out the Throttle body sorted for the following MOT. Just other issues then. Also sorted.

Thanks Colin, I'll see what the new one does when it arrives from the States in due course. Unfortunately the thread on the subject elsewhere doesn't arrive at any conclusion how the problem was fixed. The title of the thread (rather long I'm afraid) is Egr Valve - Where Is It - Exactly?! Reference to EGR valve is I assume a second route to the Throttle body which sends hot exhaust to the throttle body. I've not checked this. I've cleaned the throttle body,(it needed it) replaced plugs and leads, filters. The Car runs fine if not expected to carry load, 2+baggage and not up serious hills, but seeing Cars fly bye me is to say the least, slightly embarrassing. I can't figure if the Car changed down for some reason when I tried to zoom past the Mini. Overdrive is always pressed in. I always drive on economy setting, not power. I never use kickdown. I've never red lined the Car as mentioned in the thread. Not even sure I've taken it beyond 3k. Might try it to 5k when in the Country where it won't annoy the neighbours. I wouldn't ever red line it. Goes against my instinct for disaster. Oh I did put Brisk LPG plugs in the Car as a preliminary to installation. Very slight gap difference to normal. 0.01 I think. But then those people on LPG would also be having my experience so can't be the problem. My Australian friend said that he changed the fuel filter on his 80's toyota and it made a big difference to performance so I've ordered a fuel filter. Daresay his is a somewhat more dusty environment , but at 130k miles on the clock if original it won't hurt to change it. The Capacitors I've yet to check and replace them and maybe they are my problem? Maybe I need to do a diagnostic? Will need bone up on that.

I'm not entirely happy with my Lexus. Fact is, that it seems to lack power under load and acceleration from start. Stuck in the Lorry Lane getting up Hills in France has annoyed me. OK I have a very light right foot but this Car is supposed to give a massive BHP. I feel I daren't press the throttle for fear of a blowback or misfire. Strangely, something like that heppened when on a downhill slope when I thought I'd blast past an ancient Mini. Some form of splutter / hesitation which could have been gearbox or engine. Frightened the life out of me and may account for my not pressing the juice as much as I should. Found an interesting thread on another forum where guys have had similar frustrating experience and there is a helpful "how to" on the subject. Having done many things to the Car but not having examined the PCV I took it out today to check. OK there is vacuum if its still attached to the pipe leading to the throttle body, so not blocked. In fact it was pretty clean in there, but I have two concerns. When I turn the Valve upside down, the valve clearly opens. The second being that I can see the spring and at the pipe end it sits at rather a strange angle allowing part of it to be exposed beyond the abutment. Tried to view this with my endoscope but its just not powerful enough even though I could feed it inside. I've ordered a replacement with grommet so will definately replace it, but wondering if anyone has turned one of these upside down and noted that the baffle SHOULD NOT open just by its weight. In other words is my spring knackered or even possibly broken and not doing its job properly?

Its breaking the seal is the difficult part. Lighter weight and a bit of space in the centre of the tyre means you don't lose a lot of Boot space. Also I am guessing if you need rescuing by whatever service they may be able to fit the tyre. I used to also carry the squirty stuff and over many many thousands of miles never needed the spare wheel or squirty. but you can bet your life if you leave it out - you'll need it!

Personally, I don't want anyone asking me if I will sell my Car or leaving any note asking same question with or without a phone contact number. Why would you do that? If its for sale it will be advertised have a sign in the window. MYOB would be my reaction. Last year there were a few dubious people in the neighborhood and I was afraid one might stop and ask if I wanted to sell. My youngest Son always reminds me that the Car and my number plate CDL suggests "Crack Dealers Limited"!

When I had my W140 on gas I used to always take the spare wheel to France. When and if I eventually get the Lexus on gas I've been thinking to just carry a spare new tyre. Less weight but perhaps crucial for a really bad blow out situation. I don't drive on old tyres but the issue is, could I actually put it on the wheel if necessity called for it? Anyone put on a car tyre? Recall seeing a vutube thing about exploding it on with a gas cannister or something. Looked highly dangerous and anyway could I get the old one off without damage? Presume need carry a pot of pva to put on the rim to assist and as sealant

Well it seemed like a nice day to fit the Kit. Sadly, a word of caution to any one else considering this, having held the part to the Radio its clear it has been cut with such a tight fit and in one case a slight error in button positioning, that this will require some Stanley knife work if it is to be fitted. Not sure button removal is possible though may try it? Its possible the backing when removed may make things a little less tight but I'm not taking a chance on fitting something and finding I can't turn/push various buttons in/out. Real shame and silly they didn't allow a little space to each control knob. The display panel left of the Cassette entry is not the right length across and the pattern there allows for half the Lexus name to appear and not all of it. The good news is its a very good match to the Ashtray and some parts will fit without trouble but some will definately require modification. Circles are not easy to enlarge. Squares no problem but won't be quite as nice looking. Bottom rear central control vent is a different shape to mine which has circular Cigar lighter. not going to waste such a lovely day with it so on the back burner - for now. Earlier in the week got back from 2,500 miles driving to the SW and South of France over the Millau Viaduct and back via Carcassonne. The car did sterling work (under a boozy load) and I will treat it to the kit in due course.

If the misfire has gone completely what did he do to fix it? If he replaced a coil pack then surely the cause of the different pressure was owing to one side not firing. Now firing, why change the Cats? Has he told you that he actually removed the Cats to get the Car to run properly? To remove these are usually a pain. A dodgy coil would have cost £25 aftermarket.
