  1. Its a good forum I've watched over many years. What would be the point of a fast fill four hole Toroidal if you are feeding it in through a Straw? Good point.
  2. No Headlamp squirters on your bumper? On my '93 model.
  3. I would not have one of those small entry points where an adapter has to be fitted. I know of a situation where the gas into a Car failed to be stopped by the valve. The Pump gun could not be taken off. The major Service station had to call the Fire Brigade who didn't have a clue what to do, and the Garage management shut down the garage for possibly two hours.because of the problem. Who knows if that warning on the pump could render someone liable to a claim in damages in the event such a situation arose. I believe a piece of debris got into the pipe and blocked the valve from closing down. Very rare event I imagine but I would prefer the larger entry point so that the European Adapter does not have to fit into another Adapter. I'd happily place the entry point on the bumper rather than the rear wing itself as it will eventually get rust around it and look nasty. The "Fast filler" Toroidal Tank has a separate tube to vent in the boot that vents downward whilst other Toroidals have a vent tube out, in the centre of the Toroidal Tank which has a sealing plate above the mutivalve and vent pipe. Must get a quote to have a conversion. Got new Toroidal fast fill tank, Vaporiser and solenoid valve, Entry point, etc,etc sitting around now for nearly two years. Just need the Electrics and someone to install, as decided I can't be bothered to do the job. My only worry with pro is that I read on their website they don't take off the Inlet manifold to drill. Various opinions on this. ps looks a nice neat job.
  4. Be interested to see a photo of this
  5. I bought a spare which had been completely serviced with all replacement Alan s/s bolts for the hex bolts. You should know that they do differ slightly between earlier models and later models. This I believe is for a later model and is not suited to my car.
  6. view revisions. That engine bay looks somewhat dirty for a 16k mileage car. Never new Harrods was located in a dust bowl. If the seller has known it all its life and it was a UK purchased Car when new, would it have air suspension. Did people import Japanese Cars individually in 1993? I know it became popular later on, but why import a Japanese spec car which if brand new at the time I imagine would cost far more than UK spec. Can't see dealerships saying we've got this new UK stock but why not have a Japanese spec? Could the car have seen the middle east in its early years, I wonder?
  7. Sorry I've no ideas to help. Front offside is less likely to hit extreme potholes so difficult to tell if its just the nearside corner. Over speed humps should be a consistent problem L and R if hit at speed which may emulate a bad pot hole, I'd have thought?
  8. So a throttle body clean could be in order if its not been cleaned in recent times.? I'd also use some Wynns Petrol Injector cleaner if you have a long journey in mind. Not saying it will solve problem but less work / expense than changing plug leads and plugs. Throttle bodies do get carbon build up and injector cleaner will improve performance.
  9. I have no problem with Euro Car parts but they don't sell much for Jap cars. Interesting to note that my old Battery could (?) have been standing on the shelf for three years before being installed and has lasted another seven years. So, I'm hopeful. Bought a Bosch from Euro for my W140 when I had it and it seemed to be a very good battery. Was still going strong after four years when I sold the Car.
  10. Just a thought and I'm no expert but wondering if the springs have been replaced if the bushes on the Control Arms and Struts needed some sort of silicone on them if they were cleaned up before being put back. No doubt others will correct me on this.
  11. Too late for that Michael, and a bit peeved as the replacement received turns out to be a Yuasa 3335 and not a Yuasa 5335 which I was asked if I'd like. OK, I got what I ordered but not happy to see that the Battery data shows Fitting date 12 months / years 2014- 015-2016-2017 Wet filled with Acid UN2794 (which I am unsure what this means). So this seems like an "old stock" battery made in 2014. This said, my original 3335 taken from the Car also says UN2794 and has a Recharge chart with 12 Months and the years 2006-2007-2008-2009-2010. The Month 12 and the Year 2009 are marked with a cross, so it looks like it has lasted 7 years. ps The Duracell brand is used by an American Company on licence I read somewhere. The US Company has long produced Car batteries.
  12. Thinking back I had a broken spring on my W140 once. I think it was the rear? Just broke at the base. Could be the cause of your "creaking". I have two replacements rear springs which I've done nothing with but carry one on long journeys "just in case" as they are an "advisory" for rust.
  13. As my Aunt used to say "clear as mud" . Also checking DVLA I can't find the road fund license rates for Motorcycles but I'm sure it is according to CC's rather than emissions or nuclear Kw's. My 1971 Yamaha 200 Twin is exempt, but nevertheless in the unlikely (very unlikely) event I were to buy another Honda 750FJ I am curious to know what the current is. Not sure if Bikes get a Tax disc still. Pretty sure the DVLA site says they do, and yet other online threads say they don't. Maybe I'm suffering from dyslexia. (add to the list)
  14. What pressure are you putting in your tyres? I sometimes get creaking going over speed humps slowly, and then they seem to disappear for some reason. I'd say they are front creaks rather than back.
  15. It could only happen to me. Took out the old battery on Tuesday, a Yuasa 335. Not checked when put in (if there is any info) as the replacement arrived and keen to get the thing put in - with the Wifes help as these are not a good idea for people with dodgy backs to lift in and out. I'd had a phone call the day before the delivery of the ordered Yuasa 335 and the seller (via ebay) said would I be happy to accept a Yuasa 5335 which she would check to see that it was the same size but gives an extra two years guarantee to five years. Why not? Pricewise, I noted you can pay up to £145 for this "Silver" model elsewhere. £83 paid. So, unwrapped looked OK with the word 5000 in bold print on the front and duly installed. - Hang on!! Bloody terminals wrong way round. But no, they'd sent me a 5334 and not a 5335. Bu**er me , if we didn't have to take it out and put back the old battery as they can't send me a replacement until tomorrow. Will update how long original lasted when finally replaced!
  16. OK so i've joined the plastic Licence holders after the fiasco of this thread was eventually sorted. But.what the blood and thunder is this all about when I check to see that my Licence covers a motorcycle??? Description You can drive a motorcycle of a power exceeding 35kW or with a power to weight ratio exceeding 0.2kW per kg, or A motorcycle of a power not exceeding 35kW with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.2kW per kg and derived from a vehicle of more than double its power. A motor tricycle with a power exceeding 15kW No further explanation seen on DVLA site. Whatever happened to Cubic capacities??
  17. You could always have the lower half "wrapped" if its two tone or the whole car. What did some Footie guy have his Bentley wrapped in - Camouflage if I remember correctly. looked terrible imo
  18. If its a conventional Snail shaped horn a bit of plastic insert and then a squirt of gorilla filler should deaden the sound, until explored how to solve problem. Can then scrape out. Without responsibility or liability as they say! Gorilla filler had another use for my older Mercedes to firm up the wallowy spring style front seats.
  19. The Mk 2 can't open the boot with engine running.
  20. Used to have alarm problems on my S320 and the forum was always very helpful but for obvious reasons they didn't like to advertise too often how to disable the Alarm system. It used to require two specific cables to be spliced and reocnnected as I recall. On the Lexus unless you know for certain that just snipping a cable won't prevent your starting system from operating I'd be somewhat cautious. How about wrapping the siren in something to insulate the sound until you've discovered the reason for the fault? Just a thought.
  21. The 335 is currently priced at £116.99 being a saving on £151.20. I'm going to get the battery out on Monday to double check measurements before buying. Varta I know, but not so sure about the Yuasa brand. These are the current options for around £90.
  22. Having an appointment tomorrow I've not disconnected the battery to check measurements of existing. Didn''t want to tempt providence. Have put battery on charger and after several hours its not reporting a full charge. but 12.48v on multimeter. The Varta has four years not one year Guarantee, but that and the Yuesa both quote depths of 225 0r 220. From what I can measure the battery is only 170 height + terminals, so a bit confused. The Terminals can't be 55mm in height. Will have to leave until Friday when I can disconnect.and remove cover. Anyone with a 93 and can tell me exactly what their battery depth is, by any chance. If it is too high then the cover to the air duct won't fit properly. ps Hugh what brand of battery which failed, did they supply?
  23. Silly me - the terminals are at the back and not front. Must not look at things in the dark! Te Yuasa is a four year G'tee (for what its worth) whereas the Varta Ive looked at is only one year. I'll get the wife to heave it out.
  24. Been monitoring the battery since it died at the Airport and today it was down to 12.38 so need to replace. Too dark to examine brand name and not looking forward to rupturing myself taking it out. On the top is the reference 335, 700ccp and 90 Amp.hour. No idea as to make or age of existing but has done alright so far. Checking, and most batteries seem to have the terminals the wrong way around to what i need even though described as "335". This for example which with 4 years guarantee looks a good bet, but terminals seem wrong for a 1993. Maybe they just put a stock photo up of a different model battery? No dealership near me and so will have to do the job myself. Happiest with Bosch or Exide. Varta E24 looked like lesser CCP and once again wrong terminal configuration. No mention in this Ad of the Amp charging rate. Views please? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-4-241-Yuasa-Battery-1UZFE-Saloon-06-90-10-94-335-/281678498770?hash=item419558cbd2:g:hB8AAOSwabhUWUiw
  25. Came back to Stansted Friday after ten days and found battery flat. OK AA added their kit and car started. After a few minutes running, disconnected their unit and Car started on its own power. Checked battery yesterday and 12.5v so maybe a tad under power which may suggest Battery on its way out and that alarm has been enjoying itself in my absence. Did unlock front doors on the remote, but not back doors. Barely a flicker on the instrument panel before rescue arrived. Will monitor voltage over next few days. PS My lights never flash and I prefer they don't. No noisy beep either, just the sound of the mechanism. Where's my wallet!!
