Check up Toyota fake Air Filters (Googlie) as a possible buy on the largest Worldwide seller of everything.. For that price I'd expect it to be a worthless and possibly a damaging product. I've just paid a fraction under $20 to buy a Denso from Rock Auto but even it says "made in China". What can one expect, these days?

Unbelievable -unless it was the Managers Car and a more convenient walk to enter the Building. More likely the Manager told the employee to bag the site so he could use it later in the day, perhaps? Difficult to figre out such selfishness. -
Smoke Silver and my Car's Beige colour are great for only needing to wash the Wheels regularly and Car twice yearly imo. Just returned from driving her 1700 miles total in France over a ten day period. Very fortunate that I had the zero pressure A/C (after being left in France fourteen months) re-gassed by Kwik Fit. May not be a recommended place to go, but it served us well for the duration and the temperature reached 32 degrees at the Guerlie Lake where Daughter decided to have a Swim. I passed on that.

Well, it hasn't gone to plan. Removal of original strip started badly when the second wire I attempted to remove lifted the pad off the PCB. Another is loose but still connected to its Trace. Decided not to attempt install the new Climate Control Strip but trimmed off the wires from the old and put back in situ. Had the fear that any solder bridging two pads might result in a short circuit with who knows what consequences. Don't have the necessary wire to bridge to the pad from the nearby hole. Guess Soldering is one art that I'm unable to master. Good job I didn't attempt the ECU a couple of years back. Why didn't I remember that!! Still possible to put in the new Strip but will just check that everything still works on the unit and it doesn't catch fire. Left with one Black screw that I just couldn't find where it came from. Always the way, so they say.

Thanks Malc. Some progress. Black board away from front piece. Q. is needing to heat the screen to free it up? Had hoped it would loosen without heat. Still puzzling but daresay I'll get there - eventually. Why didn't I provide the Beer money for the expert - Doh! Having replaced the failed Heater on my Dishwasher yesterday I became a bit cocky this Morning thinking I can do this! Ha!

So, after many years I've started on replacing the Climate Control Panel which is void of any image. Needs to re-gas after Car left for fourteen months in France lost its A/C and need see what is on the display. The Video on vutube isn't exactly like my '93 even though it mentions 1990 to 2000. Having taken the front away from the main box, its pretty tight with the various connecting straps. Do they all come off? Not clear on the video as only mentions one strap and poor image. Three straps two of which are attached to the small square PCB. One of which goes to the Screen whereas the other goes back into the box. Remove two connectors with care as don't want to damage PCB.My assumption otherwise no chance of unscrewing the eight black screws and two yellows the Vid talks about. Haven't seen the yellows, so far. I'm at the "why did I start this job, stage".

Yes, I remember reading that it was a flop saleswise. As I was at an impressionable age -13 it seemed to be interesting and reminded me of my Grumpy old Uncle who used to wear a Mac and a Trilby and never smiled but complained in the presence of his Mother that he didn't want her Mutton and Soggy old Cabbage for lunch. A bit of a scary character I used to think at the time.

and then again..............there were "Tom Thumb" titchy Cigars! The memories keep coming back. As for Fags the only Advert that always springs to my mind is "you are never alone with a Strand" Private ***** in RainMac. No others occupy a space in my reducing mind - thank goodness!

Re-reading this thread I seem to recall they may have been Punch Cigars. Small things. Panatella's? Can still find Punch marketed with history on the web.

Check your vacuum lines. I've known the plastic tube that enters the Plastic pre joining the Throttle body to snap off which will affect your fuel mix beyond the MAF sensor. Can't recall exactly what this did when I discovered this partial break, but ??? Also sticking ICV perhaps? -
The below engine bay intrigued me. The triple pipes on the throttle body have been capped and pipes removed. The small Air filter on the EGR hole- interesting! I must replace the pipes to the Oil pump on my Car as I find if I've stopped when the car is at temperature sometime the revs are below 650 and the steering is very stiff as a consequence when reversing. Have to take the tray off to do this which is why it hasn't been done to date.

Is a Car better left out in the open than left in an open Garage or Car port for any period of time? I was surprised by the amount of Oxidation that had occured in the Engine Bay after my Lexus was stored in France for fourteen months during lockdown. The Garage admittedly was an open ended Garage but I imagined that with the exception of rust on the Discs (and any rodent infiltration) that the Engine would not suffer any consequences of its imprisonment. I was wrong, as the photo shows The Good news was that upon connecting the Negative terminal to the battery and a charge, the Car started immediately. Had the Car been left outside would it have fared better? When I kept an MR2 in a Garage (with doors) in the UK for six years it started OK with a bit of fresh petrol and after oiling the pots pre firing. However when I went to sell the Car some six months later, unbeknown to me, (the oil had looked OK on the stick) the Car had a Head Gasket failure. When asked is everything is OK after taking the buyer for a test drive, imagine my chagrin when saying “yes” and looking at the Oil Filler Cap only to find the dreaded Mayonnaise!! I sold the Car to the gent for half the price and eight years later it is still on the road after repair. Any Car left for a period of time may also suffer the Head Gasket issue, I’m guessing. Only other issue was very Rusty Discs which were almost new when the LS was parked up, Have left them on and they brake as well as the Car did before its “holiday”. Rear drilled and slotted are taking longer to look “bright”. Pitting is making no difference and life is too short to have them re-cut. Today the Car is having the opposite side Control Arm replaced.

Thanks John and Malc. I have a spare rear strut and two Bushes if anyone needs them. The Bushes are a puzzle as they seem to be milled in the centre circle but I could not find matching Spacers to fit the milled pattern and my Mechanic left the original Bush in place. Will probably do the same for t'other side in due course..
