Hi Steve, My car is a Mk11 1993 and may be the same part number as the Mk 1 or not? Imagine Bronze is the colour as the Car is Beige. though never noticed any colour t.b.h. Thanks for your research. Found this thread which gives an idea of the problem faced with removal. I'm not up for that. Will keep looking and pm the guy to find out if he had his replaced.

Got into the Car yesterday to adjust the new Dash Cam and heard a strange tinkling noise when I closed the door, like gravel on the roof. Didn't think much about it and fixed the Dash Cam to the Mirror with added elastic band and cable tie just in case the sticky were at some point in time give way. Got out and closed the Car and realised my REAR WINDSREEN WAS SHATTERED. The side parts had blown out and the centre was in tact in thousand pieces. Could see where the impact of large pebble found nearby had crashed into to glass near the roofline. Didn't photo but instantly ran to the house for a piece of a Yuzet Opaque Tarp which (fortunately) happened to be the right size and with my Wifes help covered and sealed the Screen. What next? What chance of finding a replacement for a thirty year old Car? Haven't contacted the Insurers so far as PM'd Rupert Dubreaux who had similar problem from falling house tile. Malc if you know his phone number please alert him to my plight as need to know my options before ringing Insurers. Really would hate to lose the Car. I'm in poor health and didn't need this grief.

Apols that is a lengthy video. I did find the original interview with the Lawyer and lts see if it opens. Its a little over 30 mins.
-
Sorry it was not available nor was the previous link to the discussion between Dr John Campbell and the Swiss Lawyer. Perhaps this shortie will be viewable and you may get the gist of what is being deliberately withheld as info to the public. This link is maybe the full interview - if it shows?
-
What a surprise they've pulled it.

Wake up and smell the Coffee, Malc. See the respected Dr John’s interview with a deeply concerned International Lawyer. I’ll be interested to read Bluemarlin view on the content? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ag-1AkhWNk For evil to succeed it only takes for good men to do nothing.

The LS has a permanent live to the CD Player even with the ignition off so may well be damaged if neg not detached. Interested by your comment of the S Class as I have had a nostalgic pang for a Merc being a 2005 S Class having enjoyed eighties SEC500 and SEL500 pre my Lexus. "Keyless go" mentioned has put me off and your comment reconfirms my fear of lots of electrical likely gremlins. Don't need two Cars and am restricted in my driving at present owing to health issues. Just taking my mind of things, I guess. .

I think the owner could get away with the Cambelt, water pump vvti part and bearing changes, the valve cover gaskets and brake fluid change (not mentioned?) and the propshaft part. Basically service items and ignore all the other stuff that the "shop" would want to do adding great expense. The engine oil looked the right colour to me and the Transmission is good. I assume it has been MOT'd (or the equivalent) in America), and passed so all the rest looks like the hopes to boost Shops bottom line. Oh and the rear light bulb - essential !

I tried to order a front Disc Backplate knowing that other suppliers have told me that there are none available. I placed the order (the part which I did find through their site) and was told "pending" and at no time did I have to pay the $60 or so. They have since emailed me and said that the part is unavailable. I was not surprised but at least they didn't ask for payment in advance of checking for stock. I have used a company called "fitinpart.sg" and they supplied what I ordered. -
Somewhat earlier than predicted ...

I think you should have sorted the battery issue before taking the Car for A/C work. They have to consider that disconnecting a battery can have consequences - loss of codes, ECU resetting etc., KF asked me for my mobile number before I walked away for an hour and I imagine they asked for yours, and so should have phoned you and said "no can do" until you sort the battery issue so they can get easy access to the low port.
-
I would think that they did not do the work because as you quote" The other inlet is behind the Battery and difficult to access without removing it, but in my case impossible, because previous owner fitted the Battery incorrectly (still securely mounted, but Battery cover upside-down), so the Battery temp sensor etc. is the way. Realistically to connect the hose it would require to either disconnect the positive terminal, or remove the Battery altogether and then fit it correctly... ideally. "unquote. The battery has to be connected to run the Car whilst doing the service. I last week had my A/C topped up a Kwik Fit, Clacton, and it took over an hour to do but the temp now goes down to 9.2. My low pressure line is easy to get to at the back of the engine - yours clearly baffled them and they should have just told you they can't do the job for that reason. Clacton got my A/C working when the car had been unused in France for fourteen months and there was no cycling, so I am happy with their work at reasonable cost.

Slightly off topic, when I bought the new Nissens Radiator I also bought from Rock Auto two new Radiator Coolant rubber pipes. At the time I didn't think that possibly LHD Cars may have different spec of the Pipes. When I look at them they seem to be OK for the Mk2 Car alhough the Ref No' vary from ones I've seen. I've seen 165720 whereas the Gates is 22024 and the other is 16571c whereas the Gates is 20720. Does anyone know if LHD and RHD Rad connecting positions differ?

The revs increase when the compressor engages which is why they say the Car uses more petrol when A/C working. I just reported that my Car A/C was reharged and goes down to 9.2 degrees. If and when I drive to France it will be essential to keeping me safe. An old boy with too much heat has a tendency to fall asleep !

Been trying to remember the name of the particular Radiator that caused these problems and was also used by Mercedes. My W140 Tran inlet pipe literally rusted off just as I turned a corner outside my house. I was lucky in that the Car just abut made it to my drive and I replaced the Rad. Think it was a name beginning with "B" but can't find any link to it. My LS400 still has the original Toyota Rad although I have a new Nissens replacement bought eight years ago for £40 which I've not put in as Members say the LS 400 original (to Mk 2) never fail. Perhaps after thirty years I should swap it out. Nissens is a good brand and it will be one less thing in my parts department !

Had the Car Air con regassed by Kwik Fit. After they last did it from a non working A/C situation (it died in France not having been used for fourteen months) I did myself boost it some time last year with A/C Pro and thought I'd use the rest of the Green Bottle but of course it had disappeared into the ether whilst in the Garage. At £64.95 and as the A/C was still cyling but not getting cool I decided to get it topped up etc professionally rather than buy another Can. The temp fell to 9.2 on the 25 min. drive home so good job done, I guess.

Having had a glance under my '93 rear bumper the hidden parking sensor strip looks unfittable. Better if it was on the outside of the Bumper under the chrome strip and I may consider it with extra 3m tape the full length of the mag. strip. Although it would either have to twist and dive under the bumper one corner to allow the electrics to reach the box internally or need drill a hole . So.. maybe not! btw under £14 from Chin A on ebay if you don't mind a wait on delivery.

Yes I've seen that thread using a piece of wire to manouvre the needle which I believe had stuck on 100? Thought about drilling a hole near to the speedo pillar and then trying to clean the Post but I'd need do it for the Rev counter as well. It only sticks in the Summer Malc. Never had it stick in the winter. Not keen to do this. Did find a thread of and Indian guy taking a later model console apart but I don't think I could do that in the yoga pose he adopts. Not flexible enough!. Too hot to muck arund me thinks.
