Just bought possibly the cheapest MOT legal pair on the bay under fifteen squid with border, GB and EU circle of stars which (in due course???) I'll cover. Came with name of supplier printed, via overnight courier being the day after I posted my ID details. Could have saved myself a stamp. Guessing they looked at my feedback or did a Google Earth search and satisfied themselves? Very quick turnaround. No complaints. Other options as to border, etc. were available.

Having a soupcon of the Scot in me, I seem to recall that the rubber protectors on my rear Dampers were pretty shot and when the Springs were replaced I gave my mechanic a pair of these and asked him to cable tie them to what was left of the originals. Did the job fine and saved a few pennies. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRANSIT-STEERING-RACK-GAITER-SINGLE-91-2000-MANUAL-TYPE/252457286009?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D61046%26meid%3Decd6c5eb951a422e8110cf8649fdf681%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D252457286008%26itm%3D252457286009%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 (Ps Can't recall if it was exactly this gaiter or another of similar shape and size)

That looks like its missing a split pin? The rubber Cap on my Car over the front springs in theEngine bay both have holes in the top. Not sure that they would make any difference to the ride / vibration etc?? I just glued a couple of Window suckers over the holes. If its only the circular panel and rubber surely a breakers yard is the way to go? Perhaps I misundertand this thread. (Wouldn't be the first time!)

Its an old thread. I've had Mannol 3309 in the Car for at least 15k miles – two plus years. In the UK never experienced any problem but I do have a problem which may have nothing to do with the fluid, and that is overtaking at speed under load on a gradient which sometimes gives me a jolt. Also using kickdown, there is a jolt. Yet to determine if this is just normal dropping down a gear or a worn gearbox support, or a solenoid issue or the fluid. Car has done 140k miles and I bought at 113k. Don't recall if the problem existed before the Trannie Filter was changed and Mannol added. I think it probably did. Its those Hills in France that it doesn't like, too much. Gearbox support bracket to be changed shortly but for normal driving without a ton of clothes, bedding, tools and Wine in the back, absolutely no problems. So, you pays yur money and take yur chances. Would add that it was only a partial change of fluid not a complete replacement. May also get a bit more of the blended stuff replaced but its a undershield off thing, and not something I care to do at this time of the year outside my house.

Interesting Answers from Pete and yourself. Some people use the Cigar/ette lighter to add a tyre inflator which must be a powerful draw on current. I long ago mended the Cig Socket removing the remains of the fusible link which may well have suffered from such usage. I will have to rethink if my 99p investment in a USB bulb (when it arrives) may not be wise to plug in? Are you people sure it was not just the fact that Alexander may have put the LED in the wrong way around and that has caused the problem? Not easy to be sure which way they go in, if I remember correctly?

Thought about LED's and have a selection bought for previous car, but in the light of this (excuse the pun) have decided only to put this one into the fitting that goes into my Cigar lighter facing upward, it will let me see those Heater control wheels and Vanes which in the dark I tend to fumble about trying to find. quote The remote key was lost sometime in it's 27 years. Maybe when the previous owner passed away. Not sure if you are suggesting that the Boot can be remotely opened with a key? Not to my knowledge or I've been missing a trick. Won't open when car running from interior lever and I doubt it possible using a seperate key. Or am I talking twaddle?

Has anyone noticed a big increase in adverts?

Is that not a Browser setting thing that you can block? I use Firefox, go into options, privacy & security and tick block pop ups. -
Well done Phil. That was quite a task and excellent that you kept photo's. I've decided to buy a set of the below as the 27mm should fit nicely onto the Bush, albeit that I may have to cut off the back part and drill out the 3/8 square to a round shape for a broader bar. The other end a larger 32mm long fit or something my mechanic already has in his tool box should allow the bush to be drawn inside. Thats the theory. My Son, also suggested ferezing the new Bush before trying to install. May make sense? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5pc-3-8-Drive-Nut-Hex-OIL-FILTER-Socket-set-24-27-32-36-38mm-Thin-low-shallow-E/332835678070?epid=25024639405&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4d7e8d6776:g:L6YAAOSw3hxdlqfE&enc=AQAEAAACQBPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qVowkDKr4HlgtUHweE83pApz2NipBRBozYQkdyl40XJsysrXnVV%2BvCxGk0Nx%2Bo8ilLUUZ2PEifbeY2p9%2FcrdScYYspYyVfCFHYWbB%2BzjIVGjBgLR6%2FJ0v%2Bm2bBz%2BpY%2BwyVqpcRRSvTjw13lpSmEylXWm3c%2F4MqQtU3x38f9V7dnMtLA7UjFRw9DpeuVduaH3a4EIgZZbQ6uxRkwnKFNqni3KqU2uY8RyCbuOLqynhdxsF2VACnzue2VcbDanysfk0RHRe6cVuvF4iGZBwUQLjVscj%2BlEsaUPRpzwf00RnmTyV9i0W5EFVND1ZznqwqvWexNxD6Z%2B7yd7XwfKQLye2%2BhKt1FfuxWyaRAclEfkt6vUjRXV9oYdjXObp6gQwJJeLUoQ%2B4EX%2FmUjcdr40q99WYTgGScS%2Bln70Y1iEtoTI49MjF5JXkDB4mJQ6ZU2SlhhwlYhWgcCEQScmf7uAucIgwfXy6ffD8L2QdEf9hpYmHoPsy9x1yccmEUbF1U3jIvvyCg3QdWj73i9BA8gZsTOlqyyYd7oleoj3%2FMb9VfS02Dk43hIipX0kGwQYomB239yB27mi7PR2dkBsC83zAQ6yo%2B8CLbFKbpPHRcQj4O%2BsuHgENG0EPYQGwqtNA460p8Xwt2aHUO0GmPv0XAPcZWZFf6r3ev9QTFVmx4fPd56D9Y3Fv9bQEk8sBFEmBx8WFlQZoIeLEdMQwiKIXg4RdX2PWq3hKHvFr3qPiGM9b0%2FJTtIQ%3D%3D&checksum=332835678070f0939539781d4a8086ec23d8772dc820&enc=AQAEAAACQBPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qVowkDKr4HlgtUHweE83pApz2NipBRBozYQkdyl40XJsysrXnVV%2BvCxGk0Nx%2Bo8ilLUUZ2PEifbeY2p9%2FcrdScYYspYyVfCFHYWbB%2BzjIVGjBgLR6%2FJ0v%2Bm2bBz%2BpY%2BwyVqpcRRSvTjw13lpSmEylXWm3c%2F4MqQtU3x38f9V7dnMtLA7UjFRw9DpeuVduaH3a4EIgZZbQ6uxRkwnKFNqni3KqU2uY8RyCbuOLqynhdxsF2VACnzue2VcbDanysfk0RHRe6cVuvF4iGZBwUQLjVscj%2BlEsaUPRpzwf00RnmTyV9i0W5EFVND1ZznqwqvWexNxD6Z%2B7yd7XwfKQLye2%2BhKt1FfuxWyaRAclEfkt6vUjRXV9oYdjXObp6gQwJJeLUoQ%2B4EX%2FmUjcdr40q99WYTgGScS%2Bln70Y1iEtoTI49MjF5JXkDB4mJQ6ZU2SlhhwlYhWgcCEQScmf7uAucIgwfXy6ffD8L2QdEf9hpYmHoPsy9x1yccmEUbF1U3jIvvyCg3QdWj73i9BA8gZsTOlqyyYd7oleoj3%2FMb9VfS02Dk43hIipX0kGwQYomB239yB27mi7PR2dkBsC83zAQ6yo%2B8CLbFKbpPHRcQj4O%2BsuHgENG0EPYQGwqtNA460p8Xwt2aHUO0GmPv0XAPcZWZFf6r3ev9QTFVmx4fPd56D9Y3Fv9bQEk8sBFEmBx8WFlQZoIeLEdMQwiKIXg4RdX2PWq3hKHvFr3qPiGM9b0%2FJTtIQ%3D%3D&checksum=332835678070f0939539781d4a8086ec23d8772dc820

Did I read somewhere the right tool from Lexus would cost $680. Unfortunately, there is not the space to "push" the Bush through and so it can only be extracted by pulling. I looked at my Socket but they are too long in length and the internal pattern is likely to damage the rubber, even if cut down, which would need be precise. Also a square 1/2 inch hole is not what is needed for the back plate, bearings and nut. Daresay someone on the forum has tackled this problem, hence the enquiry. My mechanic I have trusted on this car and my Mercedes over the past twelve years and he does have pullers, just not the correct size for the Lexus. He has changed the Cambelt, changed the Fuel filter, gearbox filter, UCA's and other parts to date. I prefer to find the item for him as he has a habit of not billing me for his work - even when pressed. Likes the Car!

My mechanic doesn't have the necessary size puller to replace a Rear Hub bush like the one in the below Ad which is right for my Car. (Last one and I'm tempted to buy it in case the offside needs replacing at some stage, as well. I've looked at Pullers on ebay and not clear as to if the right size is avaiable in a kit. Most seem to be for BMW which may be correct but ?? Wondering if a Member may have the necessary tool to do this job and would lend it to me (at my expense in it being posted, signed for, etc) and I'd return it as soon as the job has been rescheduled and done. Or, if anyone knows exactly which diameter tube/kit is the right one, and where it may be purchased I'd appreciate the info. This is a diagram of the part. My Vernier gauge (if I read it correctly suggest that the Bush is 38.1mm Diameter and so a tube 38mm would be the exact fit for extraction with the other necessary parts. Please pm me if you can help. Is that a LS600h or a LS460 that Doc Martin drives in that final episode? Wouldn't want to try driving in those streets with such a Car. Probably traffic not allowed anyway, and all or any allowed vehicles stopped for filming. Long time since I've been to Cornwall. Last time was in a Riley Lynx Tourer 1934 (not the year of visit you understand)

My wife said why don't I buy a nice Jaguar like this one (very nice interior) but then I showed her the MOT record for the Car - Shock Horror ! Sounds like your Nephew can't afford a Lexus LS as parts are going to be too expensive and they are at an age when most things need replacing /servicing./ Lovely Car but then I can splash out on parts - which I certainly have had to, since ownership. Think I'd avoid Jags also. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-03-JAGUAR-X-TYPE-2-5-SE-AWD-AUTO-LONG-MOT-FULL-LTHR-NICE-SPEC/153705499457?hash=item23c98fcb41:g:QG8AAOSwZf5duvMY

Aa couple of Q's?. Did you check the MAF at work?. Second, assuming the MAF sensor is similar to the one on the LS400 (?) did you find that you had to apply pressure to make it seat?. I bought a cheapy to test and firstly it had a strange plastic ball sticking out of the "post" part (not the sensor central part) which to remove I discovered it was two strands of wire. (Assume it was to stop someone returning it as faulty claiming not to have installed it ??). Anyway, they removed, and the unit is slightly proud of the base plate one end if tilted. It may screw down as its the central core does have an "o" ring as does the original. Just curious as to your experience of installation of the Chinese replacement. No gasket to this part and if not seated properly will it give a false reading, or suck in dirt, is my thinking.
