  1. My personal Tank sat in the Hall for three years before I decided that it and all the paraphanalia I put together for installation just couldn't be justified, especially when the Car had the dreaded stutter on Kickdown. I had a Merc on single point and managed to tease it for six years avoiding a blowback. The buyer was less fortunate. The trip to Profess and an overnight stop just didn't thrill me, so sold the Kit. Perhaps Petrol price will fall with this crisis and glut from production? Never going to meet LPG level but then perhaps the situation will adversely affect the LPG price?
  2. I made a similar error and corrected it but not before you had replied - Doh Hydrogen 2 parts Oxygen one part (creates water ) Hopw to extract Hydrogen? Well don't ask me!
  3. I usually take first place for Stupidity. Who said anything about Nitrogen? Water is two parts Hydrogen and one part Oxygen unless my Chemistry lessons of yesteryear were as bad as my concentration on all other subjects. "See me" was often written on my test results. Funny, when I was t Colchester Hospital five years ago, I got chatting to a Nurse and somehow we got arounds to where I went to School and she told me her Grandfather who was in his Nineties was still around. He was our Chemistry Master (poo poo that expression as much as you like) whose Nickname was Monty as he had the famous Moustache.
  4. This cheers me up no end!
  5. A great write up Malc. My Mechanic changed out the two front Sensors without shearing the bolts and after disconnecting the battery this morning and taking it for a spin and getting a buzz from the Power setting although on local urban roads, I'm pleased to say that there are now NO FAULT ENGINE CODES. No25 - Weak Air Fuel ratio no longer showing. Yippee!! Now can't wait until can get back on those French Roads to see if the stutter under load and on Kickdown has finally been sorted. I've alway been prepared to spend what is needed to keep the Car in good shape as it is a rather subdued Status symbol being so rare. Prices I doubt will rise greatly and all cars over 100k mileage will need copious parts replaced. Still it beats depreciation on a New Car and if the Engine is FAA Certified then show me an alternative Car with such a prestige statement. Come better weather may attack the Driving seat and replace the heat pad. Also fit a pull up rear Screen Blind. The 4.3" Reversing Camera l located on the Speaker Cover needs a screen shade and something sold for a Hubson Quadcopter may just do the trick to make viewing in the r/view Mirror that much better? Tinkering - but thats lockdown for you! Only wish I wasn't having to buy Chinoiserie, but thats really all thats available. Government needs to up the Import tax considerably. How can something I buy be manufactured, travel by Container and be delivered to my door step by the Royal Mail and only cost me 99p ? Oh, and forget Huawei as we are likely going back to the Post War period - almost - Who needs 5G ? I certainly don't ! Enough ranting!
  6. Well, I wouldn't want to upset anyone, but I've found my Lexus to be an absolute Money pit. I've never had so many sleepless nights with another Car. Had to replace so many parts (and they weren't cheap) and having just come off the phone to my Mechanic who has fitted the Rear Hub Bush after having to heat it, and told me that the N/S Rear Roll Bar drop link will need replacing, that will be small Beer, if as he tells me, he could shear off one of the two bolts that hold the front O2 sensor in place, being unlike later models which just have a Screw-in Sensor. We are talking about two rusty 5mm bolts that may not have had the nuts removed since the Car was mfrd. Should that happen I'm in dead shtook! The likelyhood 50/50 I imagine, as the nuts aren't brass. I have about £900 worth of replacement new parts from Rear UCA's to a New Radiator and pipes together with Dizzy Caps and Rotors sat at home partly because of wear issues and because I can't figure out the problem of misfire under load which is frightening when you want to join a Motorway. OBD1 says 25 Air-Fuel Ration Lean Malfunction. Transmission shows no faults. For six years I owned a Merc W140. I had a front or was it a rear spring replaced. Other than the Door mirrors not electrically operating unless they felt like it, oh and no Air Conditioning, (I lived without it) I can't recall any major expense. Maybe my memory fails me? Steve is right, the Japances are selling early Cars for more than later ones. Not sure I understand why?
  7. Backing Group sound is distinctly like Dr Feelgood - Wilko Johnson?
  8. Went to see these live at the Albert Hall must be early Seventies
  9. Don't understand why he has titled and refers to it as a Mk 1 when its a '94 Mk 2. Certainly polished up nicely. I'd want a close look underneath as Hebden Bridge was a flood area not so long ago if I remember correcty? Not looked at the MOT history. Rear UCA's at that mileage could need replacing easily £600 for OEM parts alone. I'm having a new Hub Bush tomorrow at similar mileage. Lots of invoices or service history would be good. Seems to have attracted bidders and long may the price go up.
  10. That is a surprise as I thought the Celsior was the most equipped of the models? Even had Air suspension? Sure it does get cold in Japan. Might be worth doing. No real need to have the switch on the Panel under the Ash Tray. Not sure if the Mat was just atop the Foam or need an extra layer of foam- Sandwich style?
  11. Are you installing a new Heating Mat? Something like this example? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Pads-Carbon-Fiber-Car-Seat-Heater-Kits-Heating-Warmer-Heated-Cushion-Universal/352801878771?hash=item5224a172f3:g:aZYAAOSwxU9ddg99
  12. Always reminds me of the trek I made to work for a Company that sold Soaps shaped as Toys (Cliro Perfumeries) to major Retailers, from two basement Basement Offices in Nottingham Place, W1. Of the time - Star Wars! Had to get the tube to the newly restored Baker Street from Liverpoool St Station and a short walk to Nottingham Place. Much time was spent by the staff checking to avoid the Directors' two Ferrari's from getting Parking Tickets.
  13. Yes a totally different sound to Rock and Pop.Brian May apparantly was a fan of this number by The Temperance Seven
  14. No John, more a Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Titch sort of person - possibly, or not? Interest in Trad Jazz quickly disappeared when Shadows, Beatles , Stones etc came along. Diverse taste these days..
  15. Here's one that stirs the blood - well it did once!
  16. Kenny Ball considered "Trad Jazz" not Blues as some names mentioned. Used to listen to him, Cleo Lane, Acker Bilk, Humph Littleton, Johny Dankworth etc, at Dunmow Jazz Club when a Teenager. Was it "Stomping " that was the shuffle we all did?
  17. Suspect that gramatically this should read "Whilst" . The Solo by Prince blows my mind and makes me wan tto pick up my Guitar, but then I recall I can't play anymore -doh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y
  18. That I can't tell you Colin. I've put on about 35k since acquiring the Car six years ago. Clutching at straws again, someone on another forum has mentioned the Fuel Pump Resistor to check resistance. An NZ guy on the Tube has done some work on this part or by bypassing it shows increased flow of petrol. Will check it out and make sure Air Filter is still as clean as last time I looked at it. I think the resistor seems to affect cars at start up, so doesn't apply to my problem, but I'll still check its well earthed/connections etc. Under the MAF Sensor I believe.
  19. Thanks Steve. From what I've seen the Knock Sensors are front of the Starter Motor. One central and one on the RHS. Not a fun job. I have checked the OBD1 before and got no codes. However, just checked again and am getting a Code 25 lean fuel mixture code. Can you clarify? The OBD box although showing on the internal diagram a grid of three boxes across (9 in first Box) there are in fact six holes and not just three holes across. (18) OK I have put the wire into E1 simple but Te1 is in the forth hole. Wee bit confusing. Sure I did it correclty previously and got no codes. Could be intermittant. Perhaps changing my upstream O2 sensors this coming Tuesday will sort my problem or do I need to invest in a new or s/hand MAF Sensor. I know the original can't be cleaned.
  20. In my seemingly endless search to discover the problem with the Car when overtaking under load, the Fuel filter I had replaced with some difficulty last year. You can see by the photo's that it was quite unecessary after 140k miles, although I cannot be sure it is the original. Judging by the difficulty in removal I'd wager it was the original. So, Howard you may wish to just clean the rust from your parts, paint and leave well alone. Ooops perhaps ~I need to remove from the other end first before making such a bold statement. Tomorrow
