  1. Howard, I don't know if this thread on the other forum may give you a clue as to what to check? Q. below it sounds like your query but no answer other than above. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-2nd-gen-1998-2005/923590-fuel-light-blinking.html
  2. Still pleased with the Car, otherwise?. Does your Car have soft close doors, and double glazing? How do you compare it to any other Lexus you've owned? I do like the styling of the Car and am even tempted by the Hairdressers white. Mind you, I daresay this will pass. PS All LS400's have the foot handbrake. Only time needed is on a P&O Ferry when they stow you on the side ramps. Bit hair-raisng I've found. Still no such issue in Oz.
  3. Hi Andrew, How's your Crown Majesta coping with the Australian heat and recent events? I think when we last had a conflab I mentioned one of the downsides of the Car (which I personally prefer to the Celsior in looks) is that interior Wood trim - as seen in this rather nice example doesn't cope with heat. Such a pity though daresay it can be replaced. https://www.tc-v.com/used_car/toyota/crown+majesta/26157750/?isNew=1
  4. try under LPG 06 L**** Guess we all have to be so careful these day. Don't want to upset anyone for fear of being a radicalist- ha ha ha. If only it was funny!
  5. passenger side looks entirely different to the Drivers side - or is that my imagination/the light?? When is a crease not a crease? Looks nice - not checked MOT history - could this be the sound one?
  6. Bit curious Peter, was there a Panel (undertray) under the engine bay when you bought it? Is it common to have so much rust for a Car of this age or has the owner been ploughing through a Ford on their way to work, daily? Leaving the under tray off is not a good idea. Heavy Rain, puddles etc. are held back from doing the sort of damage your Car appears to have in terms of rust. Well doen you for sorting it.
  7. Don't remind me of Hail - I've got the Golf Ball look already. Funny how many Cars fail their MOT because of empty Water Bottles, I've noticed over the years. Such a simple and essential maintenance task
  8. Yes I did cut a hole between the two Number plate lights and just managed to thread the camera cable through without actually removing the strip which would have needed removing the rear lights or one of them. The Wireless idea was not arounf when I bought the kit many years ago and left it languishing in a cupboard. Not sure if I'd want more wireless stuff which might interfere with running my phone's music via bluetooth to the Radio?
  9. Santiago de Compostela - yes. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Naked-Pilgrim-The-Road-to-Santiago-DVD-2004-Brian-Sewell-cert-E/301853173553?epid=30486219&hash=item4647d9e731:g:RUUAAOSwCgBeutOu
  10. Reversing Sensors. I recently put a Camera below the Boot lid, but instead of running the Screen (4.3") to the Dash I put it onto the Parcel shelf Speaker grill. Screen and camera hot wired to reverse light with 3a inline fuse. Its a barely visible picture even with a shroud to hide some reflection. I will probably re-locate it to the Dash. Coupled with the fact that I can't easily turn my head to look at it but use the Central Mirror, etc,etc In a Merc SEL I put the below unit in which also fits onto the parcel shelf. Clearer indication where the obstacles are but no actual view. You can buy them in black. I bought a set should I decide to scrap the Camera all together. Bit more of a fad installing. Taking off the Bumper I believe presents you with no problem? My own may? Probably a back burner job. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Silver-Parking-Sensors-for-Car-Lorry-Reverse-Kit-Buzzer-AudioAlarm-LED-Display/372842295872?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  11. Slightly off topic with apols: For those of us who love the thought of the Grand Tour and I imagine several forum members have done it, I watched Brian Sewell’s Grand Tour DVD second part of the two part 2005? DVD last night. Love him, hate him, or both possibly, his Tour DVD was I quote “a masterpiece” and as I’m unlikely to watch it a third time it will go onto ebay where I find that there are no copies for sale, other than two from the USA probably unfit for Region 2. This is a Classic collectable series. I don’t think Monaco was on the trip, presumeably a backwater of no note in the Seventeenth Century, but I did enjoy seeing that wonderful Mercedes Benz 500SEC which is an E reg and still MOT’d today with under 50k miles on the clock. I was sure he had a Blue one and perhaps its seen in the other trip he did? "The Naked Pilgrim" being mainly a walk to Santiago?. Or was that on reflection a 560SEC. I’ll have to view that DVD sometime. This reminded me of the love I had for my own Azure Blue with Cream Suade interior SEC. A handsome Coupe and nice that my Lexus almost matches the Colour of his Gold Car . Oh, to be driving on the Grand Tour! Unlikely now I fear. If a Member would like this DVD two part set covering this 10 episode series then please PM me. It will be £20 and available for the next seven days, before I offer it to MBOA. First to ask, gets.
  12. I think you may have, Malcolm. First time I've seen one. A LS600h Landaulette- googled it and got a better view of its vast back window. Maybe a one off by Lexus at the Princes request or are they avaliable in Japan? Must rent that €40,000 a night, Princess Grace room to see it in the flesh some time!
  13. Looks like the Prince prefers to be driven in a Lexus rather than a Mercedes Benz. Last nights programme on Monaco. Not sure myself which model it was. Didn't see the gaping mouth grill so perhaps not so current?
  14. In France what I've seen is mainly E10 (nothing else mentioned) the alternative being Super 98 Essence. I've assumed E10 is 95 ron with 10% ethanol so don't put it in my car but use the Super 98 which personally I don't find the Car likes, in the UK. I assume the Super 98 essence only has 5% ethanol, if any. Once they step up from 5% to 10% Ethanol in this Country, then I fear It'll start to remove older Cars from the Roads and I'll have difficulty knowing what to do. When Petrol went unleaded I used an additive in my old 230TE. An additive to E10 won't stop the destruction of rubber etc that Ethanol is supposed to cause. Or am I wrong on this?
  15. Personally I would clean up the surfaces with anti-rust and replace the deadening foam after washing an drying off. Everything has a purpose in these Cars. Resonance, sound blocking, all important. Wouldn't be there if not considered beneficial and what harm after 14 years? Seems very little.
  16. https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/emissions/what-is-e10-fuel-and-how-could-it-affect-you/ May be a bit of a nightmare for older Cars? plus this thread https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/driving-advice/what-is-the-best-fuel-for-my-car-a-guide-to-different-fuel-types/
  17. Nice work Steve! Are you going to improve the comfort by strengthening those two rear panels? I was thinking that cutting to shape something like the below could be used to restore the feel of the original seat. I use an added Seat cushion but would dearly like to dispense with it as it slips about, if its possible to insert two additional cut to shape panels to give back that greater "bounce". https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GARDEN-KNEELER-Kneeling-KNEE-COMFORT-PAD-Self-Isolation-Foam-Cushion-Mat-Weeding/392779935753
  18. Well found Howard. Don't overlook the Rev needle as it also sticks on occasions. Let me know how easily you found the task in due course. I many times took out various Merc Instrument clusters but not tackled this one, yet. Only stated playing up after my fourth year of ownership. So possibly been no trouble for 23 years!
  19. My Speedo Needle stuck for the first time this year. Below is the link to the Cluster removal but I've been searching for a thread that says you don't need to spend any money as some suggest replacing a part, or sending it to someone who will make a charge, but can be done using a Q tip to remove lube that has trickled down the pointer and onto the Post, where it holds the pointer in hot weather by being sticky. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/instrumentcluster.html Let me know if you want me to scan and Post it as I believe it may have bene on the Club L site but I didn't find it. Glad I printed it off some time last year. It may be on a thread on this site somewhere?
  20. Out of my own curiosity I checked the answer to your Question written on the Photo. Its a Resonator. refer https://www.reference.com/world-view/air-intake-resonator-c953d81b49ffe3d1 Was the black carbon on your Butterfly disc dry or wet? My own was caked on and I would say quite dry, Perhaps you are not getting exhaust gases into the throttle body which (and I'm only guessing) dries any liquid vapour that comes via the PCV valve. An EGR issue perhaps? I have no real knowledge on the subject so someone with a greater understanding of these things will no doubt dismiss any connection.
  21. A question as well as observation. If Power Steering fluid had been getting in, it would have looked more red in colour. It would have gone via the idle control valve presumably. Only oil colour on the Butterlfy valve. Steve, you mention two PCV's is this the same for the LS400. I suppose it must be but I didn't notice when I last had my Throttle body off to clean. I recall replacing the passenger side. Final Q. this morning I took out my Dipstick and the oil seemed to be three inches above the upper top level. Done this before and had the same result - until I asked my Mechanic to come round the following Morning and remove the dipstick. Exclamation!! the oil only at the upper most level and NOT on the wire, at all. Really scratching my head over this as feel that there may be excess oil as getting a bit of leakage from the Sump gasket. Have you ever noticed oil on the Dipstick wire when you have pulled it from your Car, or has it always been between the level?
  22. Is the Sump oil overfilled by any chance? You have written "always open valve" on what I assume is a photo of the PCV. It shouldn't be "always open" but spring loaded. Just a thought.
  23. Put your Deck Chair in there and get driving!! Join the throng at the Seaside
