  1. The bad news is the passenger side is almost an impossible place to get to undo the bolts. I only replaced the drivers side last yea for that reason.
  2. Hi Paul, Did you get the Bushes and the Bolts? Be interested to know what the part numbers are for those as only show a single first code on the exploding diagram I've seen. Let me know how difficult you find the job. Thanks Stuart
  3. Just a little piece of extra info. Checking my cars history the two rear Strut bars Bushes were a fail fault in 2013. I suspect the Bushes were replaced but not the Struts as the Bushes look passable. I bought the Car in April 2014. No advisory since. Will replace all parts both sides, covid permitting a return to France in September/October. Check your struts guys. Car was moveable but reckon it threw the steering when going very slowly (fortunately)
  4. Yes I'm bit miffed that it was not spotted at MOT time just over a year ago, or the previous year. I always act to replace anything needing it, but don't live with my face under the Car. Don't mind doing repairs up top but not keen to get down and dirty as Eric the Car guy would say. Better photo to show what the part is. I suspect its a hollow tube. Japan on Obon Holiday so unable to put in order for parts until the 17th. Nice idea the Japanese, a holiday to remember the Ancestors. All we see are stupid marches and poor carnivals in this Country.
  5. Back home - Car less. Won't bore everyone with the saga but some friends might not escape! Thanks all for concern. What to get as a temporary?
  6. LPD earliest supply of part Tie Rod/Strut rod part 48780-50010 is September. Can't find item on Rock as they will ship direct to France. Neighbour had a look and said part totally gone at hub end so weld not an option. Looking like carwill have to be garaged in France until. How to get home? Ryanair most prob. As can't stay here too long, ,meds running out. Doh!
  7. Thanks john, hoping that the spar (strut) which is designed to hold the wheel in true line, can be welded. It seems the bar or pis it pipe(?) has broken away at the Bush point. May not be possible without melting the Bush if done in situ, is my thinking. You were lucky to tell the tale.
  8. Lucky to be alive. Car rear hub strut arm failed at 20mph a mile from our place in France. Parked it 2 days back and 2nd time removing wheel found trailing arm to right of hub. Fatal? Any views? Nearby Garage we would have passed as on way to tip. Lovely English guy stopped and took our three large bags of rubbish to the tip and drove us back home in his van. My neighbour says garage is good and they speak English. Fear car is w/off???
  9. I should Cocoa ! A poor impoverished chap like me. The Mota dann the Mole Hole to la Belle Francais for a new experience! - As was the cost of this Pot holers delight! Quick to make up for their loss of income. Ferries no better. C'est la vie - Doh!
  10. I did manage to cut two pieces of Scaffolding tube one an inch long and the other four inches (or thereabouts) and my mechanic did the job with the parts I supplied. He still had to heat the hub area to extract the original bush using a blow torch to expand it.
  11. If I'm on the right track Andy (???) then you may want to also look at this thread where Ambermarine has posted photo's. If not, please let me know by reply as I have a tight schedule with holiday on the Horizon. Yippee! https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/121671-rear-hub-bush-sst-or-can-anyone-help/?tab=comments#comment-1108794
  12. Roy, you may want to read the below thread. It may apply and may not. Your symptoms are partially (shall we say) mentioned OBD2 not responding. If you don't have any running symptoms then it may not be the Capacitors. Do you know the history of your Car? Do you know if the ECU Capacitors have been changed? There are several threads on this forum as to where to go to have your ECU checked out and Capacitors replaced. It was a large expnse for me but others have had the work done for a fraction of what I paid. Someone else may discount this as being the possible problem, so take Heart. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/656360-all-my-crazy-lexus-issues-solved-ecu-leaking-capacitor.html
  13. Maybe Steve I've got confused as to the part needing replacement? Pig of a job the Bush. Even with the tools to hand Mechanic had to heat the Hub with a blow torch to get the bush to shift.
  14. Not sure if I can be of any help. Bit puzzled by what you say. First you mention you've bought a new Hub Assembly but have got a wheel bearing thats failing. I recently had a N/Side "Bush" which is in the Hub, fail or almost fail on my LS400. Not an easy job to remove but my mechanic did remove it after I provided him with two lengths of Scaffolding pipe and a Socket for his Removal Bar. If (and this is deeply qualified) the below part is what you need replaced (on the rear hub) then IT MAY ???? be that these two pieces of Pipe plus a puller kit ( might) just do the trick in removing the Bush and replacing with new. I don't know if diameters etc will be the same. My mechanic did not have the right puller kit, and so I improvised a 27mm - CR-V Socket by grinding out the inside slightly so it fitted on the Bush after temporarily removing the Rubber protector. There is a right side and a wrong side to do this as the bush has a slight shape for inserting, one side. This may be your Hub ???? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-LEXUS-GS300-GS400-GS430-REAR-ARM-WHEEL-HUB-CARRIER-STUB-KNUCKLE-ROSE-BUSH/200889421052?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2ec5f14cfc:g:OfAAAMXQrC9ScNpa&amdata=enc%3DAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkrmmq8hWevtuKE7%252F%252BLfVXtiZnhuLN5MjZRhyNJvN8T8Z5Mwu1Z13kcwGwy5rq%252FhCazv%252Fj%252B0bjbpFUSkaEv7MzhNzsnIYY7TcTKTstKV%252FxVoyM%252B0SyHhfTtlJfHElHXcMvCl3qASHUKi5BTIS8%252FGQ%252BF1W%252Fs2dCwCcIjAgXTPyYq5w2oPpeyVVqLnbPgZ8cXp407yurts2YdlNW8QHiW9QXOQrdlAWCI99rWQCcsva53rkI3gAKyNuEpUuSzfCho3E4CAzMje6z0qkcYLKyc6JKygl3dHurtdqkdUdAY4cJQaC4akq7IN%252FVcT33uhCditL2WRkpM3IQ%252BQbsRwAGbLXvPqZW1o3VnZmyHkflQNuspemHIJJ20sjmqF4kSr%252FuLWwsKQCA6lKb3gUFGvYQdzzaGkCkI3PB33Y7v%252FtHwlNRocpKL%252FxsmGk3lTEDthOqtFTv9GboeUhNmZzffKSjCRY27J6wCRbUD2HxN2Fp%252BdCoz%252FGuvvOOldFr6XmPnU2JMi76MSUw67nyn5gLP9nKWGwj9txVLZ%252BrEty%252BdGXpCHINs%252Bk977LocQ1ghIMzVTKVgJb7RAnVUXnH5MTV8rzVKHDI%252FEXf7pVRdEgf1hCn531fY29wR4thOPQ%252B%252FdLA5eYvyUwkPfpAkviE3WInh7Alb7VMCxbo5HnW2y%252F4dOa5sc7G0PtFBV36H3KS2UEv9WFjKtJuknPHavJy2vXGesZNJ6NvznajnBDYMkqvaygWSON1LRrqwjJXvjypM6acST6Dl3FZ%252FdG%252Bwa9QtNcYpbiMpxWLhA%253D%253D%26cksum%3D200889421052c0c05a91a67b45acb31b0923c3618712%26ampid%3DPL_CLK%26clp%3D2334524 and this is the set for the 27mm socket. Fits snugly - to my bush. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5pcs-set-Oil-Filter-Wrench-Cap-Remover-Socket-3-8-Drive-24-27-32-36-38mm-Tool/193359078472?hash=item2d05196448:g:SGIAAOSwNvBeVdcZ If ?? your mechanic thinks with the Scaf tube - one piece one inch to extract and the other four inches to insert (approx) then let me know by no later than Friday and I can send them to you at cost, subject to their return. PM me. Weight is heavy. I had no joy getting a removal kit for the Bush but you may find one available for your vehicle?
  15. PS OBD2 readers arn't very expensive. See ebay - under £20. Daresay you can find what the codes mean easily enough by enquiry on forum.
  16. Not sure if this helps you. If you have a Rectangular diagnostic box sat in the engine bay then same as earlier models. If a round pin type then its whereabouts may be in the Cabin? Basically you read out the data as described. Assume its OBD1 in which case there isn't a "reader" they started iwth OBD2. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html
  17. If it should leak, you may have to use a blow torch and solder on one of those straight connectors with the inbuilt solder. It then gives a ridge over which your hose will go - with some force. Taking care to remove any loose solder. See plumbing tips if never done any plumbing. Bain of my life!!
  18. For the very best sound you'd need 5Zigen Fireball Mega pair of resonators. They don't make them anymore for your model. Would cost £1k min. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuQURHg02Jg
  19. Restoring her ? with a Super charger and two Magnaflow exhaust boxes!. You've not been paying attention Boy - go to the back of the Class!
  20. A couple of series called "Bangers and Cash" Not sure if it was on Ch 24 or 25. Ch Yesterday. Been a few weeks since I last saw one. Lockdown has made auctions a no-no. Good that they are running a Telephone bidding systems. Lots of lovely metal on their website this coming auction. Here's a taste if you've never seen it. Can find their website John if you search name. https://www.facebook.com/mathewsonsclassiccarauctions/videos/bangers-cash-episode-2/887084908414035/

  22. This takes me back to '70. Dan Air to Spain and you just couldn't get away from this Song. (More amusing to see these p***ed partygoers than the actual by Los Diablos (should that be diabolical?) entitled "En Rayo de Sol". And it sure was HOT HOT HOT in Callela De la Costa that first and only visit to Spain.
  23. Lovely people, lovely programme , no swearing, a joy to watch. Some interesting Cars seen, and some returning to be sold on, it seems. Hopefully not as a result of bereavement through Covid.
  24. I could certainly live with that LC even with the Spindle Grill which is possibly (??) growing on me. The curvacious styling is just so S*xy. Can't believe that you have to lift the Boot yourself after pressing the button. And also that you can't just press it again for it to self close! Dear me, behind the times or what!
