  1. A few photo's of Car console on start up and outer panels. Apols if the images are tiny. Can't seem t change. K950 EJB.zip
  2. should have added that there is a reversing camera and a five inch screen inside the Car so good rear vision when stationary.
  3. I’m asking £1000 for the car bearing in mind it Is a bit tatty from Hail dents, rust and lacquer Patch on passenger door and front wing. ENGINE MUST BE WORTH THIS. 160K on the Clock. Cambelt changed at 113k. Non intervention anyway. PM me if you want the Car. Not going to haggle But will add about £300 worth of new spares in Boot. They include new Rad + pipes, L or R Wishbone?, Distributor caps and Rotors plus more. I’ll advertise it elsewhere if no one is interested. I have owned the Car for 14 years and it has done the 600 mile to France umpteen times. Great car needs tidying I can't promise instant reply as I am too ill and need bed rest.
  4. Up to Mk2 the Cars are non interference Engines. Not that I've heard of any later models suffer from Cambelt break but something sends them to the Srappie?
  5. I have a Tow Bar on my Lexus Cabrio. Used it to take rubbish to the Dechetterie in France. Only time.
  6. I'd like to thank you all for your good wishes. I've enjoyed this forum since becoming a Member and its always inspired me to deal with theCar's faults as they arose. Guess I'll know by the end of September if I'll be able to drive again, and if not then perhaps a Member may like the Car for a little over the Scrap price. Lots of new spare electrical parts will be put in the boot. The REar screen is removable and replaceable with glass but can't promise the next MOT will be a success/ Pm me if you'd like to be told its up for sale. Bear in mind its got rusty front wheel arches, Hail dents, and lacquer peels. New correct aerosol paint supplied with parts which include brand new Radiator and pipes.
  7. Thanks Malc. I've just completed a fifth visit to Hospital for Radiotherapy to a Tumour in my bowel which came via my prostate. The procedure takes ten minutes and is painless, the journey on a Stretcher in an Ambulane for nearly two hours each way is very unpleasant, but hey hoI can't sit in a seat without excessive pain. Will know during coming weeks if successful, but meantime side affects are loose bowels and in my case enlarged scrotum and Todger owing the Lymphodemia which system shuts down by R/T treatment. . Can't see me driving again so Car will be sold or scrapped, sadly. MOT until late December .
  8. You may be right Steve, but I see many examples of people spending that sort and way beyond on the air matic on Mercs. My old Jalopy is certainly not a Garage Queen but the reliability of the engine is key to my keeping it on the road. I had the Air-con serviced and regassed last Friday even though I'll likely only drive it 7 miles to Clacton Hospital. A Taxi trip would cost me not much less. The cars condition has deteriorated in my ten years ownership. Rust on wheel arches, lacquer peels and not to mention the Hail dents I haven't managed to get around too. Got the puller and got the coded paint but........I've given the car a bit of character (flashy Dash Panel) and as the MOT is until December I'll keep it until ???? The next owner could replace the rear screen if they can find a glass replacement, without too much trouble. Meantime its holding up very well. If Chateauneuf du pape was in my Garage it would certainly be undrinkable. Wife and I spent a few days in an Artists Garret in a place called Chateuneuf in the Burgundy Region. Wanted to see the Hospice de Beaune as I recall.
  9. Thank you. Its too hot to go into the Garage and get the boxes of stuff. Will need my Son to bring them indoors so I can sort them, or not, depending.
  10. My driving days are coming to a close owing to increased co-morbidities and I will probably be selling my Lexus Cabrio in the not too distant future. I have two GENUINE TOYOTA unused Rear Arm Assmbly Upper Control Arms which have sat in the Garage for eight? year. They are parts number 48770-50010 and 48790-50010 for the Mk 2 1989-1994 LS400. You won't find them anywhere else. Not Rock Auto or Amayama and so if you want to keep your early Lexus on the road, then these are essential in case the MOT fails your car because of them. These cost me just under £600 to purchase and I am selling them for this sum. They came from Amayama but are now "discontinued parts". PM me if you want to buy them. Stuart ps I have lots of other new parts but haven't the time to list them.
  11. Thanks for asking Malc. Sadly I'm not able to use it at present for health reasons which I'll know more about after a Hospital visit Friday. My days of journeying to France or anywhere else seem to have come to an end. I put the battery on charger today as the Car isn't getting any use. The rear screen is holding up well. No leaks and no little sh*ts have targeted it - touch wood.
  12. I watched this in the early hours. What I noticed was that it was purchased from a Showroom Agent called "Coronation" which was a couple of miles away from me at Kirby Cross, Essex. My Offsping used to go past the Showroom by Bus to School in the late eighties and never thought they would one day sit in a Mk 3 Supra which they has seen in the Showroom. I bought it s/h and subsequently sold for a Merc500SEC. When my LS400 was "lost in France" I bought a single owner Corrola which also had "Coronation" above the logo. An ex-salesman noticed it as he went past my house and said not many of these still around. The Showroom closed down in early 2000's and has recently been repurposed as a Tesco. Express.
  13. You may want to give this site a look - yoshiparts.com I have purchased from them.
  14. Got one of the first Jap bikes sat in the garage and must sell this year - a Yamaha 200 Twin electric start. It and others killed off the leaky oil Brit bikes. Had a few Bikes ten years back best being a Honda VFR FJ but too heavy for me. Unable to ride bikes now.
  15. Enjoyed my LI 150 at that time - still got the moth eaten Parka bought from Army & Navy Stores, Baddow Road roundabout, Chelmsford. I think they were ex-Canadian Forces?
  16. Couldn't beleive that this song has had 1.3 Billion - Yes BILLION views. Don't recall any other song quite reaching one billion.
  17. Quote 'tell tale signs' that water has been present at some point like the spare wheel in a mess with corrosion and white crud on the inside of the wheel. Maybe not puddles of water but condensation and dampness means there is moisture present somewhere or has been.unquote. When I opened my boot a few days back I noticed water all round the rim of the Spare Wheel. Couldn't see any water in the tray but didn't lift out wheel. Seems to be condensation as plastic Tarp on top of Boot lining and none in Plastic Wheel insert.. Car has been covered with a Tarp over back window space until recently and today will be a good opportunity to see if my "Cabrio" rear window has not allowed rain to enter the Car or boot. If it should ever stops raining. Bl**y Geoengineering!!
  18. Yes only once tested the yellow light whilst in France. Kept me worried but made it to a LeClerk without difficulty. Had delivered today this pack of drill bits which look excellent value at £5. The 'bay link is too long so check out with this title as 4,900 items under DeWalt "Dewalt Dt71567-Qz Drill And Screwdriver Bit Set 16 Piece, Black"
  19. No, I've had to pay for Taxi's Petrol was getting low owing to evaporation standing. I did put some petrol in from a Can that had stood for year and the "empty" light came on just before I reached the petrol station. Wouldn't normally let it get so low. Half full now as I don't know what mileage I'm likely to do.
  20. Hi Malc, I drove it for the first time in over two months the seven miles to Clacton and back over the Marshes with quite high winds. It survived in tact though my effort to drill holes to put in a few self tapping screws got nowhere. Couldn't get any bite to the bit. Checked out this guy on you tube and he certainly gives an exhaustive challenge to discover what bit is best. He also has done the best Centre Punch. So, shortly equipped with punch and DeWalt drill bits will try again - when its warmer!!
  21. The CCTV is up and running not that I've figured out the settings. Awoke the other night around 1am and heard this beeping and as I don't take my mobile to bed had to go downstairs to get it and see what the devil was happening outside with this light/alarm system. Turn the Bl**dy thing off was my immediate thoughts but then it started making a consistent bleeping sound. Turned out to be one of the House smoke Alarms saying battery too low. Different noise than usual. So steps again downstaris and me in my PJ's carrying my night bags had to get the blighter down. Photo shows good clear image but I havent got it on "motion detection as Cats are always walking past the House and don't want this phone in our bedroom squaking every time a feline passes.. Signage up to conform to rules not that Hoodies with their faces covered are likely to see it. (I'll bear in mind the 80mph 130kph speed limit to abide by should I ever go to France again. )
  22. Your car looks glorious Steve. I've ordered a Sticker with "The Beast" on it. (Can be childish still) Wife says it looks like an eighties (?) Caddie ! Will it leak when finally exposed to the rain? Will the little Sh*its target it again? I've kept it under wraps until after the weekend. I've been thinking about that Q. as to Cabin pressure and come to the conclusion that it escapes at the back of the parcel shelf under the Plastic Boot trim piece. Anyone more knowledgable on this?
  23. A little more info. The Window is exact in its measurements from the top but may seem out because the Car is on a slightly raised area drivers side. However, I cocked up the centrepoint at the top by thinking that I could put a straight edge on the boot centre point (which I'd marked before the Chrome strip was removed) and then with a Spirit level get the top accurate. Big mistake, and should have done what I did before the fitting, put a string across the two top points and measure. Am about two inches out from centre - doh! I sound proofed the Car by gluing 1/8th Cork Sheeting about 70% to the inner area. Will today glue the Staithes(?) to the Sheeting. In due course I did plan to put plastic rivets at five inch intervals all round - similat to the sort used to fix Boot linings. Not sure if I'll do that or just put inch galvanised nails in to give extra strength against the internal pressure when the door gets closed. Not clear to me how this pressure gets dissipated. Understand that closing the boot uses the two vents in the sidewalls, but the Cabin????
  24. Well all, for better or worse I've almost completed the Rear Screen. I have no room for any Chrome but the beading of butyl is yt to be added and the boot end has to adhere to the platic rail. Before obvious critisism of the work in my defence I've laid awake for almost two months of incessant rain and dry and its been difficult to make progress. Couple this with the fact that I have advanced prostate Cancer, Lymphodeama , DVT and Bilateral Nephrostomys to my kidneys and you will understand wht I'v had to go through becuase of spiteful youths. Its wonky I know. The frivoulous fringe at the bottom is because I cut the material too short but couldnt start all over againand was too lazy to cut it off. Gives it a feminine feel! . I put the wrong side outer and not the rain proof side which meant I had to melt some silicone with white spirit and brush it all over to ensure rain runs off. I have yet to also stick it down to the plastic rail that crosses the boot. I've today glued it to the Cork and need wait 24 hours before finishing. The only Cabrio LS400 in existence?
