  1. Mpg tests are carried out using a spec of vehicle which will give best figures. These are normally low spec models ( which have to be saleable specs. ) which are usually less spare wheel, basic audio, no sunroof etc etc. Therefore, weight is a high consideration.
  2. They pay for themselves due to weight saving and nowadays offering as cost option. They also save on processing costs at build plant due only having 1 part to fit with repair kit.
  3. I just wonder if you really need one when you have privacy glass? In a full year of ownership, I have never had to toggle my manual mirror. Thoughts?
  4. Update to my last post....... I have now purchased the following:- Spare wheel £120 Spare wheel bolt £5.85 Under boot tray £48 Trunk carpet £ 60 ( thinner when spare is fitted with tray ) So for just over £230 I have virtually completely converted from repair kit to spare. I have spread the cost over 4/5 months so not much of a shock buying all at once. I will post some images once complete in next week or so. Will look factory fitted and hopefully will help me sell when time comes.
  5. How much? Did you DIY or was it carried out by dealer?
  6. Any orange coloured would be OK, but you would need to change your flasher unit. As the unit senses current, LED bulbs draw lower current and will result in flashers flashing too quickly. Conventional units do this to highlight you have a bulb out. You can buy unit off ebay. I'm sure there's a link on here regarding lane changing option ( 3 flashes ) with new unit. From what I can remember they cost around £50.
  7. My Lexus assist is up for renewal soon and just had notification. Price quoted is £115 to cover wife and myself. Looking at RAC & AA it looks to be not too bad. Does anyone have any recommendations other than Lexus assist?
  8. I just fitted a space saver to mine. Cost £120 from dealer ( knocked them down from £152 ). I removed deep storage tray and Repair kit. Fitted wheel with a clamp I got from work. I took jack, handle & wheel brace out of kit, wrapped them in cloth and wedged them around spare wheel. I also added some spacers to raise load floor carpet so it would lock into scuff plate to prevent rattles. I've driven over a few bumps in road and no rattles to note. If it starts to annoy me I will buy tool kit & foam over a couple of months and do it properly. At least I have warm feeling I now have a spare & won't get ripped off when stranded. Well worth £120 if it doesn't rattle.
  9. If you need any help etc, let me know. You should be fine though.
  10. Disconnect battery first. Switch is fitted to steering wheel and requires airbag removal. Whip off side covers and behind there are 2 clips which release airbag. Then its a simple secure switch, connect, refit airbag and reconnect battery.
  11. Why don't you just have the ones you have on resprayed? Will be loads cheaper.
  12. I have 2011 a find it quiet enough. You will always hear some engine grunt when you put your foot down. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.
  13. I doubt you will get anything for under 10k. For that it will be an SE-I and possibly over 70k mileage. For leather and heated seats, you need go for SE-L. One with 50k will cost around 11k.
  14. It is the top 5 and well worth it's position. Make sure it has FSH & no accident damage etc. Nothing really to point out other than mine went in for steering column knock recently & had part changed under warranty. Check by turning wheel side to side and listen for knocking. Let us know what spec you are looking at. Most don't come with Cruise control but you can retro-fit for around £150.
  15. I fitted mine myself. Parts cost £125 & took me 30 mins to fit. Display does default to blank when switching on cruise, but press display button & it reverts to what was previously displayed. Wouldn't be without mine now.
  16. I personally drive a 2011 SE-L and had a 2014 model whilst mine was in for some work. I prefer my 2011 model as the 2014 had sat Nav with controller being very awkward to use. I just use Garmin with free updates for life: you don't get that with the built in system! Mechanically they are all identical. Mine has leather/heated seats, Front & rear parking sensors & have retro-fitted cruise control. The car serves a purpose for me. I did travel to Cambridge to buy which is 160 mile round trip for me. It is worth expanding your search area. There are some nice examples around at around £12k. Go for 16" wheels on earlier models though as ride is "Firm" on 17". Good luck.
  17. Just a thought - my power socket is only live with Acc on so it is not permanent supply. Therefore, you will be ok with taking power from socket.
  18. Frightening cost really when you consider its around 80 mins to do and parts can be bought for around £80. Even at £70 hour you should only be looking at £200 - £250. Parts are also Toyota parts but with Lexus stamped on. I won't be paying it that's for sure. My son is Lexus technician but not working there now. Will get him to do it and just pay for hybrid system check @ £50.
  19. I'm pretty sure they cannot insist on your Lexus being serviced at a lexus dealer. Its the same with any vehicle make providing they use genuine parts. Worth an enquiry at a Toyota dealer.
  20. I bought mine from Lexus Cambridge and they were awful. Very amateurish and repairs were not completed correctly. I now take it locally to Lexus Birmingham ( Fort ) & have been happy with their service so far. They also corrected all the Cambridge issues.
  21. Has anyone asked for a quote in Toyota Dealer? As everything is same as a Prius, it may be worth asking as I believe it would be cheaper. Mine is due for 4 year service in March, so will definitely be looking around for better price.
  22. Just for info - Warranty direct want £425 for 1 year. If you also ask for Hybrid health check, those parts are also warranted for 12 months, so I've been told. Health check is around £50.

    Mpg

If you check the hybrid readout, battery mode will still assist up to around 65mph. It's not as prominent but when there is no requirement for excessive power, electric motors will still help out.

    Mpg

I actually achieved 58mpg on motorway a couple of weeks ago. That was at a steady 75mph using cruise control.
