  1. If you turn off Auto-Zoom in the Nav settings, you will get full screen Lane guidance on the motorways. If you look carefully, there is lane guidance on some of the junctions, but it is quite small and is shown as a set of arrows with the one it is asking you to be in highlighted in blue. You need to be on the Nav screen to see it, not the home screen with 1/2 or 1/4 of it showing Nav. Personally I think that the Nav system isn't bad, it has a few issues and problems, especially with routing and re-routing. I'm not convinced by its Quick/Short/Eco routes and I find myself now asking it to manually recalc a new route frequently as I know info about the road and traffic it doesn't seem to want to use. I have wondered if it is using the Traffic Prediction function correctly? The colours is a matter of personal preference, but initially I thought they were a bit gaudy, but now I'd say they are quite clear and informative. No worse in my opinion that the RTTI BMW ProNav or Audi's Nav systems.
  2. Sounds like either broken wiring/connector into the amplifier/headunit or an electrical fault in the amp/headunit if it is affecting everything. Hopefully they can trace it and fix it.
  3. Th The only difference AWD makes is that it means you're less likely to get stuck so 4x4 is really no advantage at speed where black ice could send any sort of vehicle into a ditch. Driving at 10mph in bad weather means you'll cause less damage if you do hit something - or possibly someone so I dont see the negatives of driving slowly in bad weather tbh There is driving slowly and there is driving to the conditions. Driving at 10mph on a clear road with snow at the side of it, in traffic, just because it has been snowing is more dangerous imo, as it causes hold ups, frustrations and for some people to do/try something stupid. Lets face it, because we only get a few days per year of snow, most people don't have a clue how to drive in it and react by panicking and doing silly things. Silly things I saw yesterday - more than one person, face of concentration/panic, white knuckles on the steering wheel, crawling along at 10mph in some wet/slush on the roadside. A guy in a Toyota Landcruiser, completely covered in snow (lights/windows all covered) expect for the windscreen, yabbering away on his mobile. A woman in Golf, who had cleared the windscreen of her car, but not the side windows, was trying to join the traffic in an urban road, from her driveway, but couldn't see out, but instead of clearing the side window, was sat with the door open to see the traffic! People rev'ing cars in wrong gear and spinning wheels trying to move away from traffic lights and wondering why they couldn't start off. Another women in a RR Evoque, with snow on the roof, got a surprise when it all ended up on her bonnet and she couldn't see, when she braked sharply at red traffic lights, because she hadn't been paying attention as she yabbered on the phone. All avoidable and silly really, people just don't think.
  4. Again drove around Carlisle today in snow, slush and ice in snow mode, no issues at all, passed a number of other cars spinning wheels. Snow mode and hybrid with careful throttle application is brilliant. Only had a slight moment trying to get into the hotel carpark, but I'd had to stop on a slight incline to wait for the barrier to open, then got stuck as wheels spun, but tried a few times let car roll back a bit and got going again. A lot of driving in snow is how you drive..... Slow and steady and smooth. Serious design flaw with front grille and headlamps though. All that sharp design and aero shaping turns lights into snow scoops. Xenon's don't seem to put enough heat out and lights just fill up with snow till you can't see. Worse as they do, it forces light to reflect back and in falling snow, it reflects on snow and blinds you further!

  7. Just driven from Glasgow back to Carlisle down the M74 in driving snow, personally one of the scariest journeys I've ever driven. Whiteout conditions making seeing the road and where you were driving extremely difficult in places. However, the Lexus performed admirably, with only a couple of hairy sideways moments saved by the traction and stability controls. Biggest issue was that the front of the car including the headlights completely covered in snow, which meant there was literally no light to see where we were going. Snow mode engaged in Carlisle itself worked brilliantly too, didn't get stuck at all. Overall very impressed.
  8. I've just read the WhatCar review and I don't agree with some of the comments on the Lexus ride, handling and steering. I don't think mine rolls a lot, nor is the steering slow to respond, nor is it particularly jittery on poor roads. Also, the footbrake and bulkhead don't interfere with my feet on the clutch rest as the review claims and the rear seat space was fine for my parents and a few friends and colleagues who have sat in the back, no complaints there. Also got no complaints about speed, as the BMW owner I was in front of and behind on the A50 today can testify too. Yes there is a bit too much tyre roar on poor tarmac (but I think that is partly down to the Bridgestone tyres), and the brake pedal modulation is still a work in progress, even after 14k miles. As for economy, another colleague has a E300 Hybrid estate and struggles to get more than 40mpg out of it. I've read that some C300 owners are not impressed so far with 40-45mpg out of their cars, which is similar or less than the Lexus.
  9. Yep, I agree and I tried turning everything back on today too ( I had the voice prompts and voice in all modes turned off) and it didn't make any difference, still no Nav popups. :megaangry:
  10. Here is another review - tables turned and IS300h declared the winner.   11. Ian, I had them on VerE for a while, but lost them. Came back sporadically, but not seen them since upgrade to VerF. Try putting the unit into diagnostic mode using the Menu button hold and turning the lights on/off, whilst power/ignition is on. When your power off, it forces a full restart of the system. This has made it work for me on the past for a while.
  12. The prices for the services are all published on line, Lexus claim they should be the same in all dealers and include all labour, VAT and consumables. For the IS, prices are published as £245 for intermediate and £445 for a full one. 60k and 100k mile services are more. I didn't have to pay for my recent intermediate one (lease car) and i didn't get to see any bills or paperwork either other than a vehicle condition sheet, which was all ok, so I can't comment on what mine would have been.
  13. How are you two getting 50mpg+ in your F-Sports ?!? My best ever is 46.5 (tank to tank calculated - back in August), my running average is 41.3 and I'm doing 80% of my mileage on motorway's. Car is now at 12k miles. My fuel computer is consistently out by +4mpg. I've tried running in Eco mode and Normal, with and without cruise control and so far my best at 70mph on the motorway is about 46-47 on the car, which is 43-44 calc'd. This week I did get to the heady heights of 53mpg, driving back from Hayes to Leicester, round the M25/M1 through roadworks and traffic - i probably was only running between 45-55mph the most of the way, as soon as I could increase to 70mph, the mpg started to drop. At 70mph cruise - 50mpg is all but impossible for me.

  15. Unpaired and repaired the phone straight away, as previous version E upgrade had issues. Still doesn't work. No worries really. Rest of Version F seems more stable so far. Though there are still some functions that don't work, such as nav popups in the instruments. Maybe Version G will fix?!?
  16. Given how tightly the cars are packed onto the ship and little time the stevedores have to get them on and off, I doubt the batteries are disconnected/reconnected.
  17. Lexus compatibility says it should work, the phone says car is asking for permission to read messages which I grant, but it doesn't work, it tries, waits then fails. However, not really bothered. All else looks good so far.
  18. In the car settings you can set the timer for exterior lights, 7/15/30 secs. Just pull the light stalk towards you once, when you turn off, and the exterior lights stay on for the duration.
  19. Well car serviced today and upgraded to Version F. I had backed up all my memory points, but didn't need to as everything is as was. Interface seems slicker, but haven't noticed any differences so far. Phone still paired and still can't read SMS on the car!
  20. Functionally, there is no difference between ML and non ML on new IS, you can only spec ML with premium nav. You still get dvd, 5.1, dab, 2xUSB, etc etc. ML gives you amp and a couple of extra speakers, all of which are ML spec. As has been discussed on here before, ML sound is a matter of personal taste, some swear by it, others including myself thought it was a waste of money, as we preferred the regular sound. The system uses a Pioneer HU.
  21. Mine connected and worked but just wait till you have to make a call at the same time while the internet connected. Maybe its fixed but this used to drive me mad, the phone was constantly disconnecting. Since I've installed a little MIFI dongle for the internet the phone has been rock solid as a phone only, I'm not certain but think it depends on your carrier. I'm with EE and have no problem with internet traffic being activated and using the phone. I seem to remember someone here having a Vodafone set up and it not working as you could only use one channel at a time (it's probably more technical than that but you get what I mean). That was me. Vodafone seems to turn off data signal if you're on a call to attempt to maximise signal strength. EE, which im on now, doesnt appear to do this. However, Android phone with WiFi Hotspot and VersE didnt appear to mind. Maybe it is different with an iphone.

  23. Well done on spec (same as mine) and colour combo. I couldn't convince the wife that Superman colours was acceptable, only just got away with Rose interior, which she now rather likes - go figure! You will love it!

  25. 52/48 is really good, wish I could get closer to that. I've noticed a hit in economy from colder weather recently, with the engine running more just to keep things warm in traffic. The alloy engine block warms up quick, but loses heat just as quick! What speeds are you maintaining on motorway to hit your economy figures?
