  1. Nice car and colour, good choice. Don't think there's any difference for MY16 compared to MY15 and there were only minor trim changes from MY14. Cars with the Shark fin aerial and different Hybrid badges have been in showrooms since April this year. I think the shark fin is only for cars with Nav.
  2. Oh well. My car has AVS too and I suspected they were different to std ones. So may be in for a wait to get them ordered and to the dealer.
  3. Nope definitely faulty, I've got the video evidence from the workshop to prove it. I'd assume a one off if one was leaking, but both rears?? I've blamed the wife for making us carry so much unneeded stuff to Italy in the summer!
  4. So car has gone for its 3rd service, at 14mths old/37k miles, and both rear shocks were found to be leaking, with the top portion wet with fluid. Can't say I've noticed anything with the way the car drives. Needless to say they are being swapped under warranty, though it does mean another trip to the dealer as they don't keep stock (not surprising really). Seems unusual to me that both would fail at this stage, guess it must be a faulty batch, are they the same part number, or are they handed?
  5. My boot always seems warm, bags feel warm if they've been sat on top of the battery. Noticed an annoying gurgling noise coming from the drivers door glass as the water streams off and swirls around near the mirror housing, perversely only noticeable on the motorway because the car is so quiet!
  6. Need to get some gliptone cleaner for mine as it is filthy currently with blue Jean staining, especially on the bolster you slide over to get in. Might have been better to ask who has red leather, know of you,me, DJP and ...... Anyone else?
  7. There are 3 mpg options, after start, after refuel, after reset. The after start one resets every time you start, or more accurately, turn on the ignition. No way I know of to delay this, its hard wired. I use after refuel and after reset.
  8. Have left keys in jacket pocket and left in car, or put keys in wife's handbag and left in boot. However the car knows exactly where they are in the car and won't lock it, just giving a loud bleeping when trying to lock it which is quite confusing at first, then you look at the dash and it tells you exactly what is going on. I try and keep the key in trouser pocket mostly, on its own now with no keyring. The Yanks get a credit card sized fob you can put in a wallet, which would be better. On the subject of visibility I also find the over shoulder visibility is poor, I don't have an issue with A pillars, but have taken bad with judging the outer extemeties of the car, as my front wheels will testify too. :-(
  9. Yep mirrors folded in is my check of car locked too. I've not walked away with it running, as I've got the comfort access set to pull the steering wheel away from me, so its hard to mistake that. I have often tried to lock the car with the key in it though, and thank God it is intelligent to not do so, or I'd be bankrupt due to locksmith call out fees!
  10. IS200t is available to order now for November delivery, in F-Sport, Premier and the new Sport trim. IS200t confirmed at 241bhp, 7s 0-60 and 143mph top speed. New Sport trim is a Luxury spec car, with Premier wheels painted gloss black, a Gloss black normal grill, F-Sport seats but parts of the seats are in Grey tahara trim (i.e vinyl), other bits in Black, plus std Nav and the normal Lux model features - heated seats, auto lights, wipers, etc etc. They are also adding Fuji Red (solid) and Sonic White, plus F-Sport only Azure Blue. No mention of dropping colours. Pricing "The on-the-road prices for the new IS 200t are £28,995 for the Sport, £31,495 for the F Sport and £35,750 for the Premier. The new IS 300h Sport costs £29,995 on the road. " More here - http://media.toyota.co.uk/2015/09/lexus-introduces-new-is-200t-and-adds-new-sport-grade-to-ct-and-is-line-up/
  11. It never fails to make me laugh when everyone piles in on to chastise someone about a comment on something we have all done or do regularly. Doing 70mph (or more) in rain is perfectly acceptable if the vehicle and tyres are up to it, the road conditions are acceptable and you have sufficient skill or experience to understand the actions and potential consequences. You don't see racing drivers slowing down to 50 when it rains unless they have the wrong tyres or track conditions make it the current safest or quickest method. Driving to the conditions (car and environment) is still the mantra, and these change all the time. However people get lulled into a false sense of security with modern vehicle and even the greats (Senna, Hamilton, Rossi, Lauda.......) made mistakes and got caught out. On the M6 last night north of Preston, as the traffic thinned out, I saw no issue with keeping the speed up in the rain with acceptable gaps. My tyres are good, I'm used to the car and know what she will and won't do, I put my lights on( many don't) and increased my safety margin to the car in front. I also treat the windscreen with RainX/Prestone so I can see clearly even in heavy rain. Bigger issue were the few cars who weren't so confident and instantly slowed down, some braking heavily which is even more dangerous and sticking in the middle lane!
  12. Mine are the std Bridgestones. Wet weather work is about their only redeeming feature! I came up the M6 tonight with TC on at 75, no issues through some heavy heavy rain near Tebay. Another thought, have they worn evenly across the tread? If insides or outsides are more worn it will feel weird in the wet and shows there is a problem with wheel alignment.
  13. Hemming treatment is the way they roll and weld the wheel arch to make it without a lip on the inside, where dirt and water would accumulate and rust. Most cars have this now, but it is hard to achieve. More marketing BS than super special Lexus know how imho.
  14. What tyres do you have on the car? Are they at the correct pressure as this can have a big effect on feel and is hard to notice just by looking as they are so slim profile. The Lexus TC and ESP system is very sensitive and I find cuts in very easily, which is a good and bad thing. Just driven mine up to Carlisle through some pretty torrential rain showers and hasn't missed a beat. Wouldn't say mine was sensitive in the rain, quite the opposite really. Especially doesn't tug the steering going through standing water which previous cars were prone too.
  15. usb ports are only 0.5A std output. You'll need to use a suitable convertor in the 12v socket.
  16. Yep - its the same with Android, unless the number matches identically, the car won't display caller ID. You would need to have both numbers listed against a caller, with and without the intl prefix. Also if you have more than 4 numbers against a caller in your phone, the car will split the numbers into 2 entries as it can only handle 4 numbers per name. I've also noticed the call history date/times on the car are all an hour ahead, unless you make a call in the car, then it shows them as the correct time. Confusing and another bug.
  17. Whilst driving through Switzerland and Italy a few weeks ago, I used S mode when coming down mountain passes, with S2, 3 or 4 selected, keeping the speed down using engine braking and not risking burning out the brakes. Maxed out the battery charge too more than once. One question, what does the car do when the battery is full? Disengage the generator or just push out the excess elec as heat?
  18. Heard the news? Tesla S has been hacked already lol. Apparently it's quite easy to do as well And they've fixed it already. And the update is downloaded over the air. To all Tesla's at once. No trip to the dealer, no recall etc etc. The hack was inevitable, the fix and delivery mechanism is how it should be for all manufacturers.
  19. If you press the power button without touching the brakes, it operates an accessory mode, which after about 20mins it automatically turns off to protect battery life, at least we found that on the Eurotunnel train, as that was the message it said. It did allow us to turn on again though, but it shutdown itself again after about 20mins. There is the possibility that the tracker system threshold is set too high and there is nothing wrong.
  20. The TC, ESP and EBD will cut in way before you can get out of control and you can't turn them all off anyway, they still cut in if you get into trouble. Sport mode, S mode on gearbox and a mountain pass on Tuscany with a wide 180 left turn with nothing coming got the back end to step out quite predictably with a very nice chirrup from the tyres. Then the ESp cut in and it was all over. The car was really great on the twisties, steering is very accurate and the chassis so supple and communicative. Even the ASC with the paddles between 2nd, 3rd and 4th gave some lovely sounds in the cabin, pity about the outside.
  21. Edit: double post. We were never stopped or questioned either, at every border, just waived through.
  22. Just returned from 2wks in France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, with a Vauxhall Astra Bulb kit in the boot just in case! Most of the bulbs are led's or dealer change only. Car did 2500m in 2wks faultlessly.
  23. Yep, CD playback is better than IPod on USB and that is better than streamed bluetooth. Radio Is a mix depending on the station, band and quality of broadcast.
  24. Try boosting the midrange a lot, with a small tweak on bass and treble. You can set these for each input. Also try swapping between surround on and off, (I prefer surround on) to hear the difference.
  25. cant say ive ever noticed this, though possibly have but put it down to tyre roar or vibration from a ribbed or rough surface. What are the circumstances and symptoms exactly?
