Fixed for £60! My local legend of a mechanic took out the valve and cleaned it so all the horror stories of 5k to fix etc and new engines are hopefully just scary stories!

Hi, new owner / member here. Had my 08 plate IS 220d for 6 months and best car I've ever had. Moved from Merc to Lexus and I love it until yesterday. I've seen the posts about the above and my mood is ranging from abject panic to mildly distraught. There seems to be a multitude of things that cover what this error is. Do we have a definitive? Are Lexus actually taking these in and fixing for free or am I misereading soem of the posts? All help much appreciated. G
