  1. you buy a hybrid for the quietness so i wouldn't want the extra noise
  2. thanks for your comments i will be leaving things alone
  3. so the only real benefit is not having to replace the filter at service times
  4. i was thinking along the lines of, if it created a little more power then you wouldn't have to put your foot down as much and therefore better mpg so over a period of time it may pay for itself, and the other is never having to buy an air filter again.
  5. do k&n air filters are they worth the money ,will they make any difference to the economy of the hybrid engine. thanks for your replies
  6. 200h

    Rpm

around 1800 - 2000 rpm on light throttle
  7. are k&n air filters of any benefit to a hybrid. i have been looking around and the best price i have found is £49.19 i dont know if this will be money well spent or wasted on the hybrid engine ,is anyone using one of these filters.
  8. anyway who cares how old you are,its a great car to be in ,its comfy(old person term),quiet and has enough power
  9. i am 47 years of age so it seems there are 2 major age brackets for this car mid 40,s and around late 60's early 70's
  10. what did you do to improve the reception of the dab
  11. i have the premium nav fitted so does that mean i have the centre channel speaker in the dash and the sub on the shelf to make up the 8
  12. HI all i am thinking about becoming a gold member and i want to know from gold members if having the membership is value for money or not, should i buy or not ?? thanks
  13. maybe we will have inductive charging system one day where you can drive over a charging plate
  14. when i had a mercedes A class that i ran shell super unleaded on i used to see an extra 45 miles range from a tank full so it was worth paying the extra,i then changed to a ct and i didnt notice any difference between standard and super ,to be honest if i had to use super market petrol in desperation i didn't see any difference in the mpg i returned per gallon,so i just use standard shell petrol.
  15. i am glad someone alse has noticed the quality of the dab, this is the first time i have had dab in a car and i find that fm has a far nicer tone to it,the volume is quieter on dab so you have to turn it up a bit and hopefully turn it back down for any other source so i just listen to fm now ,overall sound quality i would say is good and wouldn't change anything.
  16. just looked at the prices for the leaf if you buy the car visia base model (£16490 you get a steering wheel and not much more) & lease the batteries it does become more expensive than paying for petrol, on a 12 month battery lease based on 7500 miles / annum you will pay £1080 in rental charges, now i cover roughly the same in my is and will spend around £924 on fuel / annum so for me going totally green wouldn't be the way at the moment. http://www.nissan.co.uk/dam/services/gb/brochure/Nissan_Leaf_technical_specs.pdf and scroll to page 7 & 8 ,pg7 has the prices if you buy outright and pg8 if you buy the car and lease the batteries.
  17. i will be interested to read how the leaf stands up during the winter months when the demand for electric increases due to headlights, heaters & rear demister having to be turned on,then the effect the cold will have on the batteries, keep the forum updated.
  18. ganzoom you are quite right with the above statement ,but we as a country are not there yet and it will be a long time before the charging points are common place and in every highstreet & carpark, and only then will these cars become a viable option. again it really depends on your usage if your retired and only do round town / short stop start journeys to the shops then you probably cannot beat the ev car but if you want freedom where distance isnt an issue and dont want to be tethered to a plug socket then its still hybrid in my eyes.
  19. i think the stranglers lyrics can answer that "all day and all of the night"
  20. Who`s electricity was it? Ed do you think he's hooked up to the grey box above his car on the pole ?? lol
  21. At the moment i feel hybrid is the only way to go ,batteries will only be here and of any use if i can travel from the wirral to cornwall without having to recharge, when that day arrives then the batteries will rule, the other method for increasing the range would be to have inductive charging in the road surface, you would pay / mile as the receiver pad would have an RF tag so you can pay for what you use.
  22. Id imagine there will never be a day of "enough" chargers. They'll always be in use, especially if electric cars keep increasing. and especially when you will find someone who doesn't need the charger parking in one of the bays
  23. have you seen this electric car http://www.partsgateway.co.uk/pgtimes/porsche-electric-600bhp-car
  24. sorry to hear of your incident take pictures maybe have a newspaper present so you can see the date it happened ,use a tape measure to show how far out the kerb stone is protruding, when you get your tyre changed i would ask the tyre fitters if they could write a report on the condition of the tyre just to show the tyre is dangerous to use on the public highway and needed replacing as a matter of urgency. you will probably have to wait a while for a conclusion.
  25. below is a quotation from the lexus smart repair advert,i would photograph and email the smart repair company, and if you get knowhere pass it on to lexus customer relations as its a product recommended by lexus with their name endorsing the product so it doesn't look good for them. What parts of my car are covered? Scratches and scuffs up to 300mm in diameter and 3 mm deep. Dents up to 300mm in length and 3mm deep. Stone chips up to 5mm in diameter and 1.5mm deep.
