  1. you wont be driving without your lights on as the drl's will be turned on i know front only though so you will still be seen coming
  2. i personally wouldn't buy a car with that milage on the clock ever but that is just me when you start getting to intergalactic milage you have to expect you may have problems at some point as nothing lasts forever and issues will be costly to put right, does it have a full lexus service history as that would put my mind more at ease knowing it had been looked after properly. you need to drive the car and see if it feels right and make sure everything works properly.
  3. i use the bluetooth version of the elm327 with carista and its really good i have paid to upgrade to the full version and it works a treat, register to be a tester for the software and you will get the full version for free but once the testing is over it will revert back to the free version without the bells and wistles, dont over pay for the adapter as elm 327 is the chipset name so dont think the more you pay the better it will be,on ebay you can pay around £7 for a bluetooth version.
  4. i always say manufacturer fitted therfore you aren't saying exactly what is fitted so no untruths can be told. your insurance quote will always be based on the manufacturers specification anyway
  5. "they are just plug and play" but i wanted to have more light the replacement w5w come in different styles some have 4smd's around the side and 1smd at the end with these i found you have light shinning to the sides and is wasted i changed it to have all the light facing towards you i.e. in the boot you have a large area to illuminate and 1 little bulb just doesn't cut it before i fit any led bulb to the car i always test them on a 12v supply off the car to make sure they are working properly and leave them for a few minutes so they warm up,if there is an issue i will find it before there are fitted.
  6. i have mixed a w5w type bulb fitting with a 12 or 16 led panel unsolder the 2 end caps of the festoon led panel solder 2 wires to the points where the festoon caps where soldered to strip & thread the other end of the wires through the plastic w5w cap and fold around the end of the cap. i have done this for the following locations interior roof & map lights, door lights, foot lights & boot light dont be concerned about the power they take as it is minimal a standard w5w takes 0.416 Amps against a 16 led panel taking 0.12 Amps
  7. your mate must have more money than sense, most of the time when braking you are using regenerative braking so your calipers / pads aren't being used it is only when heavier braking is needed or at very low speeds around town when the pads are actually meet the discs
  8. the braking system is different to a normal car as it has to operate even when the engine isn't running this is why when you get in your car you can hear a pump turning on and this is pressurising the braking system so its ready for use. to work on the brakes make sure you keep your key well away from the car pul the abs relays to be on the safe side once all your work is done replace the relays then using the toyota techstream software and diagnostic cable on a laptop you can then bleed the brakes by activating the abs pump. techstream software & cable on ebay is about £25
  9. what is the S-line ,when i see S-line i think of audi
  10. Hi Garry welcome to the forum you've made a wise choice and you wont regret it,the 300h is a great car to be in and 1 thing for certain your honda days are over ,you will never go back. lexus owners seem to be loyal to the brand and i'm sure you will be also.
  11. after a bit of messing around i also have found the light level needs to be set at the lowest level to stop them coming on whilst its bright.
  12. any engineering works with a cnc lathe can refinish the surface of a wheel the term diamond cut makes it sound likes its a specialised process but it is only refering to the tool used to cut the material.
  13. its quiet surprising how the technology differs from model to model ,it would be reasonable to expect both systems to work in exactly the same manner.
  14. i checked mine today and the reverse bulb has a 501 fitting but the bulb is approx 30mm in length ,maybe if you use a canbus led as they are longer and they also have the leds positioned on the end to throw light outwards maybe something like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10X-T10-8-SMD-501-W5W-ERROR-FREE-XENON-WHITE-CANBUS-LED-SIDE-LIGHT-BULBS-/190929841243?hash=item2c744e2c5b:g:7M8AAOSwEK9T30oR http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Compact-Star-XENON-LED-Parking-Side-Light-Bulb-12v-501-W5W-T10-wedge-canbus-/290731801199?hash=item43b0f73a6f:m:mNXdXgMicyB10H0mBLUGkWw
  15. i have tried led bulbs for the reversing lights in another car and they weren't good the bulb was std indicator bulb p21w and i replaced it for a 68smd led bulb the reverse light looked good illuminated nice and bright and white but it didn't project the light far enough back so i reverted back to the std bulb.
  16. there are obviously different types of rim blades available i have found 2 youtube videos and these blades fix in a slightly different manner as the tyre is left inflated during installation.
  17. halford sell rimblades in various colours http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/exterior-protection/rimblades-alloy-wheel-rim-protectors-red
  18. ye anything that goes to a point is perfect
  19. agree with rayaans use the touch up sticks give the area a good clean then depending on the size of the chip i sometimes use a sewing needle or a precision screw driver as you then have a point to drop the paint onto the chip as you may find the supplied brush can be too big and you end up painting the area around as well, put on 1 layer let it dry just keep adding layers until the chip is filled up with paint.
  20. It runs on 5v so easier imho to run the cable down the door pillar and find a feed there for the 12v to 5v power supply to plug in. I used the socket in the cubby box as the supplied captive cable was easily long enough. There are though some fairly small 12v to 5v usb power supplies available if you want to spend more and they probably would fit under the headlining. Ed. i have never used one i thought they ran off 12v Sorry
  21. there are loads around you i have just found some online for you i've never dealt with any of the companies below so i am not endorsing any of them i would expect to pay around £100 for 1 alloy Alloy Wheel Repair 020 3411 7823 Whoops Wheel Fix It 41 Davenant Rd · 020 7060 3666 T-Smart Alloy Refurb 157 Philip Ln · 07841 718060 www.premierwheelrepairs.com/ www.diamondalloys.co.uk/ www.fawheels.co.uk www.justwheelrepair.co.uk/
  22. When i had a CT i installed a auto dimming rearview mirror and i took the feed for this from the overhead light unit at the front of the car,i have just looked on ebay and the A118 only take 400ma so if i where to install one i would be having a look up there for an ignition controlled 12v supply.
  23. i think the hardest part is to keep the puddle light in place when re-assembling the rear mirror housing i found it used to keep coming out of its location. and now you can now see why the original leds wouldn't of worked. glad it went well for you.
  24. before the honda we had an aygo and it was fine until daniel turned 1 then it became too awkward for kath to get him in and out of the car due to his weight and how the child seat sat on the back seat in relation to the door opening we then bought the hybrid jazz.
  25. Daughters been a good one. Only vomited once and that was on tiles in the kitchen and had a one shot case of diarrhoea in my father in laws car lol thats what inlaws are for lol
