  1. in the bottom of the air filter box there is some pipework i found this the other week when i removed it ,the water may of come in through this pipework, ironically this maybe a drain for the housing.
  2. if an item on a car is deemed as dangerous the garage has a duty to keep the car off the road until it is repaired, or you can have the car put on a trailer and moved to another garage or to your home for the repairs to be carried out. this happened to my friend dads car a few years ago
  3. personally i wouldn't risk it i have had the experience of hydraulically locking my engine in a narrowed section of a 2 way road stuck under a canal brige and i blocked the road, the AA said they where experiencing high call volumes at this time of day (5.30 am) i dont think so and turned up at 8.30 am.
  4. what car seat do you have as normally car seats aren't model specific we haven't had any issues fitting car seats in any cars we have had including the Aygo,Auris,Ct & IS ,most car seats have iso fixings for fitting in the rear of the car these fittings are std's across cars makes and anything else uses your seat belts so again universal
  5. yes quiet right they are a grown ups car thats why we have the toyota for the kids transport
  6. this is from the toyota forum on an auris https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/86751-cruise-control-installation-instructions/?page=25&tab=comments#comment-1436477 some dealers just dont have a clue and even more so Halfords once you have unclipped the airbag remove the blanking plug in the steering wheel and with 2 screws fasten the switch in place and put plug in the vacant socket on the steering wheel jobs done.
  7. open the bonnet and look in the area where the headlight and the wing meet on the plastic panel you will see 2 arrows that have a + and - these are the adjusters for the horizontal and vertical settings of the headlights.
  8. i had the same issue with lexus stoke they had never heard of the gold membership card either
  9. your better off looking for a cheap insurance group 1 cars so you pay as little as possible for the car and insurance whilst he earns his 30% NCD at the end of the 1st year then buy something else , if he did have a bump the car could be scrapped with it being cheap to start with. when kath learnt to drive i bought her a car whilst on "L"'s this way she would be earning her 1st years NCD when her car is sitting on the drive at home doing nothing and you can always have the annual milage set at 2000 miles with 90% of the time the cars doing nothing. although i think these maybe out of your price range.
  10. i've just renewed my insurance in August and surprisingly my 17 plate 300h F Sport is cheaper then my 63 plate 300h luxury i had my renewal came in at £263
  11. i have just seen this video it may be worth a shot here is a video for a foam air duct cleaner here is a link
  12. when i cleaned the drain on the yaris i used a large syringe so i could put hot water under pressure to help remove any dirt clogging up the drain pipe i also squirted water back in the unit in the car this loosened loads of dirt as well i used a takeaway tray to catch the water & dirt.
  13. if you havent signed for the car yet try an IS even if you have signed for the CT try an IS you wont look back. with the CT base luxury model starting at £26000 you could easily get yourself in an IS in April i picked up my 11month old IS300h F Sport with less than 7K on the clock for £29000 so you are in the ball park regarding money go and have a look
  14. fingers crossed that you have fixed the noise i had wind noise on my last IS around the top corner of the drivers door i gave up in the end and lived with it
  15. if you look on the windscreen there should be some writing in one of the corners if its original lexus will be on the glass .
  16. for peace of mind i would want to know the details of what has been replaced to repair the car maybe even before photo's of it.
  17. i have cleaned out the aircon drain tube on a yaris it was in the passenger footwell next to the tunnel the amount of rubbish in there was surprising
  18. here is a module to give you auto fold / unfold of your mirrors it goes without saying that your mirrors must have manual electric folding mirrors for this to work https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Auto-Intelligent-Folding-Closer-System-Modules-CAR-Side-Rear-View-Mirror-ES211EU/232891182698?epid=15022266211&hash=item3639656e6a:g:EnIAAOSwboVbdIr6
  19. i went straight to the 2 wires that go into the floor lighting remove the under panel below the glovebox and above the pedals, the panel on the passenger side is held in with a few clips the panel on the drivers side is held in place with 2 screws disconnect the plug from the light and you will see the 2 wires just tap into these. here is a video of the lights in the dark. these lights cost me £64 , £29 for the lights £32 for dhl posting (received in 4 days ) £3 import duty Lexus illuminated door sill.3gp
  20. i fitted them this evening, i took the feeds from the footwell lights red wire = earth blue wire = +12v below is a video of them fitted ,it was hard to take a good video as they are really shinny and had loads of reflections. 20180814_200548.mp4

    Tyres

i looked at the Db , fuel & wet braking tyre ratings the dunlop sport are a different tyre to the sport maxx rt's though i think the Db rating where 67Db for the Maxx rt's ,the tyres grip was brilliant and after 18 months there was still loads of life left in them, on my last car i chose the michelin cross climates and they where also a brilliant tyre to have .

    Tyres

when i had my ct i changed the tyres to dunlop sport maxx rt they were incredibly quiet total transformation from the yokohama's fitted by lexus, why do lexus ruin a quiet car by fitting noisy tyres and it goes against the Tv AD with Kylie talking about the quiet revolution.
  24. my partner has an Auris Hybrid her head unit has the nav button on the front but the nav unit wasn't fitted, i think Toyota / Lexus do this so they dont have to make 2 variants of a head units 1 with and 1 without certain features, for us it was handy as i retro fitted the Toyota nav so its all integrated and works off the button. maybe the Dab can be added on for you.
