Thanks everyone,
I’m looking around now for a post 2014 model as I understand the ride is better. I’m slightly concerned about the performance and road noise but I guess I’ll get over it. Gone are the days when I could sit in my LS or GS at a ton plus - I just can’t afford to lose my license now.
Will keep you all posted.
when i had my ct the best thing i bought for her was a new set of tyres, the oem Yokohama's
made so much noise in the cabin, after changing to Dunlop Sport maxx Rt2 tyres the
cabin road noise was reduced significantly and gave a nice quiet ride.

the GS does feel different to the IS
the seating position is so much higher
when driving its like sitting in your favourite arm chair
its so comfy, but i find the seats dont hold you as well as the IS's
the other day i gave a work mate a lift he's 6'6" he said
he had plenty of room and didnt feel squashed
and the ride is well damped and smooth.

since october 2013 i have owned an
61 plate luxury CT200h , a 63 plate luxury IS300h , a 17 plate IS300h F Sport and my current 66 plate GS300h executive
in all this time the cars have been faultless not even an advisory at Mot time
you've made a good choice enjoy the car.

i've paid £39 for mot's for the last few years at my lexus dealership
just ask if they can do it for a lower price otherwise full price will be charged
the price charged for your mot is at the discretion of the test station but there
is a maximum which is the full price cost that can be charged.

the only common issue i have heard about on this forum is the egr valve getting clogged up,
our members have successfully cleaned them so not a major issue.
as john has already said
"Do buy from a Lexus Dealer & make sure the vehicle has a full Lexus Service History."
all Lexus approved car will come with 1 yr warranty and AA breakdown
you can buy a 2yr extended the warranty identical to the dealer warranty
for £495 still including AA breakdown for you and any another person at the same address
and it possibly comes with mot insurance aswell

on the top of the door handle there will be an oval recess / indentation
if you have keyless entry just touch the indentation to unlock the doors
sorry i got it the wrong way round
touch the back of the handle with your hand to unlock
and touch the oval recess to lock the car
you can touch the recess twice to double lock it

i like the feeling of the interior being around you
for me it makes you feel like your part of the car
and not just sitting in there like a spare part.

just found the post its the SE version that doesnt have folding rear seats

i dont think all model have folding rear seats so if this is important to you
double check to see if this feature is fitted, i think the executive
trim is the one that doesnt have the folding rear seats.

here is a link for an engine with a small warranty if it helps you
-
why dont you take out an extended warranty whilst the car doesnt have any issues
or warning lights on the dashboard
our auris had a brake actuator issue and after reading the prius forums the cost
for replacing is circa £2500
a light would come on the dash and the braking performance changed alot
we would then reset the light and the brakes would be fine again
for the sake of £495 for 2 years warranty inc breakdown it would be
worth considering

i've spoken to aviva and they've told me as long as i stay with them
my premium wont be affected at renewal it would be as if it didnt happen
due tot he fact that the 3rd party is paying all costs
they did say if i changed insurer it may be looked on differently

Mark, Do not forget to charge the other insured`s insurer for the increase in your insurance for the next 5 years !
It will possibly be a considerable sum.
happy christmas to you john , just as i'm feeling happy you put me on a downer lol
have you thought of working for the samaritans over new year

the final parts bill for the accident came in @ £7000 + Vat so £8400 inc vat this included the following parts :-
r/n/s quarter panel, both passenger doors, rear bumper and passenger door mirror + painting,
on top of that the front bumper had suffered damage at the bodyshop and had to be fixed but due to the
radar being disconnected to repair the bumper the car had to go to lexus for the radar to be recalibrated
then there was an issue with the audio amp as i had no sound the diagnostics came back with a short so
back to lexus and they discovered a bent pin in a multi plug,
the car hire was £80 per day x 59 days so another large bill to be paid.
but at least its all over now and i'm back in the car
happy days
