@Northern isf so what was the mistake you made. Anything we need to know to avoid doing the same.
-
Its a great idea to keep Dan. Fact. But I guess it depends on what's to replace it...........?
-
Oooo. Exciting. You must have photos let's see them then. We like photos.

Well that was simple enough and took no more than 10 minutes. Interestingly the two prongs needed for this are missing from the spine of my toolkit but thanks @Texas as I would never have know to even look. So two jewellers screwdrivers carefully inserted did the trick and just the normal tension of pushing the screwdrivers together while pulling and out comes the clock facia. Following the instructions from @Texas ejecting the DVD confirms its original 09-09 Ver 1 when ejected. My new £29.99 disk does look like original Lexus version and is noted 2017 18 Ver 2 on the disk and when loaded the car reads it correctly. Slot the clock back in and all is lovely and indeed shows a new local link road built around 12 months ago. So in the end I'm very pleased. Not an exact price comparison @CADman for all 4 European disks but I don't need the other 3, just the one with the UK on which is West Europe. (That said additional disks are available direct from the supplier for an extra £10 when placing an order so possibly £60 all in?. (I wish now I had bought one for my IS 300). As ever I guess the price of piece of mind for Lexus doing it or having a go yourself. Im a have a go sort of guy.

I did the same and its in the post as we speak. Hope it works, hope its an improvement. hope it doesn't screw up the system. Interesting point @JonP thanks. 20 seconds on the internet reveals this https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/Shop/Index It further identifies my system as Gen 05 (doesn't list ISF but going with IS250), and my old IS300 as Gen 01 as it happens. (now why didn't I order 2 disks Doh!) To test the website further I need to get the disk serial number to check the next step but that's for the weekend too. The fact its £152 @CADman would be a reason I haven't done it already, but for it not to work. Yikes. Hope they sort you out with more than a promise of free coffee. It would be great to know how you get on. And for the benefit of other readers how we all get on. That's why I love this forum. I will update the weekends events if my cheapo disk arrives safely, or at all.

Nice colour by the way Reiss, my IS300 is the same and I bought that unseen too. From a dealer as it happens but as it was 150 miles from home any promise of a warranty wasn't much use to me but it came with 12 months MOT. 11 months and 3 weeks later its MOT time again on Friday and I think I might be into pads and discs by the weekend but if that's as bad as it gets I will be happy. Aren't YouTube tutorials great.

Look whats turned up on ebay
gb1600e replied to gb1600e's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Just passing again today and couldn't resist another look. I saw the front end being loaded in a van apparently to repair a 2011 car? I think the guy paid about 1/3 the price the parts were on order from LEXUS for those bits which on the one hand is a saving but on the other second hand the panels needed work ! I'm told the engine may be on its way to Bahrain ! (although still on ebay for over £5k or £7.5k if you want the gearbox and he's taking call on the gearbox daily. . And that fork lift..................doing more damage by the day. -

Ah, I remember reading about that some time ago, wasn't it Teesside Police ? maybe there was more than one with the Police. I'm curious now to prove if that's the case as there must be all sorts of tells if you look close. No wonder the drivers seat looked well worn if you imagine the size of the average traffic plod getting in an out thousands of times -
Surely one or other set should be "wrong" as the shoulder on the nut should match the wheel? As I guess the original one does. Too long would be definitely not be fine but shorter I guess works. Understand the concern John as ideally I want my wheel nuts to be exactly the right thing as Mr Lexus intended and not just close. Definitely worth checking.

Ebay ISF import, third times a charm
gb1600e replied to rd350ypvs's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I spotted this keep reappearing and although looks great in the photo's wondered if it wasn't all it seemed. For sure I would want to be paying a significant chunk less £££ to cater for all the differences even if they can all be reasonably overcome. For only a modest saving on a good UK car I wouldn't bother but it might represent a good bargain for somebody. The good thing is its declared for what it is so hopefully no surprises for the new owner. -
And a Lincoln Continental Limo for Saturday evenings out when an estate car just isn't enough. Well why not
-
Yes, Garage envy here too. And as someone with the need of an estate car I lament the lack of a more modern Lexus estate for when my old IS 300 Sportcross starts to become high maintenance. That said over the last 12 months its cost £0 maintenance and very minimal depreciation so fingers crossed.

Ah yes that's the link and Im pretty sure its the same car as it has the same telegraph pole shaped dint in the rear quarter, and that rear wheel is missing. You can see the rear bumper on the floor in the other photo in the original link but I cant remember now if its with the car, in the back seat, or now missing. -
Spotted this on Monday on ebay for sale. Sadly one not so good condition ISF and I think its the write off from the thread some weeks ago but can find the thread or remember who the owner was. I guess it answers the question as to what the guy was going to do with it. As it happens its at a breakers just down the road from me so had a quick look and its a sorry sight for sure. The yard owner recons its Cat S and can be repaired but I doubt it. Is the original owner able to confirm I wonder? Not sure if the other side was in good condition pre accident but both doors now have scuffs and scrapes probably from the salvage monkeys or from being fork lifted about. Seats didn't look too good either, only had 3 wheels, no badges, grille had clips broken. Although the yard owner was particularly miserable and generally uninterested (amazing......for all he knew I might of wanted to buy it) Im happy go back for anyone remotely interested in buying anything if you need a close look at anything. A sad loss all the same and I hope the old owner is looking to pick up one the ones for sale at present.

It was great to get along to the Touchdown Café and meet up with everyone who attended so thanks @Flytvr for arranging. I hope I can hang around a bit longer next time. Your RCF's on show guys mean I need to revisit my savings plan and as @Cezar B demonstrated you can get a full grown adult in the back so there is no good reason not to have one. That's me convinced, just the wife and the bank manager to go then.

Thanks for all the comments, Its interesting Lexus offer a service with local specialists @olliesgrandad @d3ron and at a competitive price. I previously ruled out going to my local dealer expecting the price to be eye watering if they were even were interested. (Although having had a number or IS 200's back in the day we all know what wheel corrosion is about so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. I do like the dark silver with the white car @DAW and that's the colour I was going with but until I bought the new set so the old ones need something else which in the end I think will be a winter set. Fair point @NemesisUK about matt wheels looking dirty but I use the car regularly so regrettably so does the car. Although I have been surprised however how quick I'm picking up little tar spots on the paint but that's another matter. As for brake dust and wheel cleaning! I bought some Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner and its simply brilliant. Spray on, leave for a few mins, and you can see and smell it working. Just takes a thorough rinse off and its done.

The first job I intended doing after I bought my ISF (4 month in now) was to get the wheels refurbished but I'm still having trouble deciding which colour to go with. I'm not so much into modifying but would going with a non stock colour be a crime I wonder? I think I currently have light silver although they have been done before so could be any non stock colour. Apologies in advance for the crap photography, shadows, dirty car etc. Well I have since got hold of a set of dark silver wheels and they look great (thanks Dan) And quite a contrast next to each other. So I could go with those. Although you don't get the difference so much on the car. Although I do like the look of matte bronze (without the blue bit) that BCS had lying around. Ummmmmm Matt Bronze I think, but then again. Ahhhh.

Im planning to come along if I can keep up with the changing arrangements. I chanced upon the Touchdown Café a couple of summers ago when I stayed at the camp site across the road. There is a tiny wartime museum on site but not sure when thats open. Up the road the Vulcan bomber is on display and at weekends volunteers are around doing stuff and they are more than pleased to give you a guided tour for a small donation. My lad loved it. Its an awesome machine. We got a full cockpit tour. Result.
