Winter tyres for the F series.
gb1600e replied to B1RMA's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Ouch. That makes me wince, never mind you, then or now. And Yes its certainly colder Uuuup North. Keeping my IS300 Sportcross, which arguably is cheaper than a 2nd set or rims and tyres maybe the way forward me thinks. Now let me note that justification down because is a conversation I fear I will be having with the wife before Christmas. -
Peter, Always a relief when any car sails through an MOT so well done and thanks for the update. I noticed your smoked bumper reflectors and thought how it finished off your rear end nicely (Ooo Errr). Have you wired them up as additional rear lights or just have them as reflectors not connected to anything. In fact do they have any normal reflectivity at all if not powered up ?? With my black badging on white paint with smoked lights it could be just what I need.

Dan, Is your man the guy selling on ebay from Walsall? That guy has his rears at near on same price (£202 for 2 pairs) or your man is matching him perhaps ? Seemingly on ebay they are in stock as item listed in UK (Walsall) with 1 week delivery. Interestingly he also has buy 3 at £187 each and buy 4 at £176 each and all have "Make Offer" So maybe if 4 people are interested we are onto an even better deal. All that said I'm still in for a smoked set of rears with you and your man. The fronts are not listed with him but all his other stock listed shipped from China is 2 - 3 weeks so still in time for Christmas.

Winter tyres for the F series.
gb1600e replied to B1RMA's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Having just bought my ISF I'm in 2 minds about all this. I want to use it ALL the time (does that feeling wear off ?) but know by doing so it wont likely keep in the excellent condition I bought it. Winter tyres on a 2nd set of wheels is a compromise. Mind you so is keeping the other car. Ahhh decisions decisions. Should I rely on global warming to make the decision easier. -
F club cyber security
gb1600e replied to tomRCFcarbon's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Im not worried about folk on the internet knowing my reg number from a photo or on here that its declared Im from Derbyshire but good luck to anyone who can work out where my ISF is parked from that. And given there are only so few ISF per year, per colour Im not sure I should worry about someone cloning mine although I don't underestimate the pain it must be if it happens. I do however worry about the amount of life some people detail on Facebook, including the likes of when they are not at home, out the country, on holiday etc when all their most valuable positions (their F Cars) are at home alone. Just one of the reasons I'm not a Facebook fan. (I have many ) That aside I bet the rate at which of which F Cars are stolen is pretty low as compared to other "similar" performance cars? Surely one of the best kept secrets amongst people who love cars not least those who steel them? It would be sad to hear but anyone had an F car stolen? Of course all sensible precautions taken and my 2 faraday bags arrived from the Amazon today. I put my reaming trust in the Lexus security and the Cat 7 tracker to do the rest. As for a bent pole....... no further comment. -
possible purchase
gb1600e replied to Ceramicolive's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I just bought my 2009 ISF last week (still smiling) and looked at this ad and was put off as to me it was suspiciously cheap, if there is such a thing? I could be wrong and its the bargain of the century. (wasn't my choice of colour either as I justify to myself the higher price I paid ). Im no expert but I was advised more than once by wise folk on here its all about the condition and you will only truly see that when you stand looking at it. I walked away from 2 "bargains" and was pleased I did. To me the panel gap on the rear bumper doesn't look level on the left and isn't same as on the right (could be just the photo) but given the spot about the tail pipes has it been back ended? Check that closely. Not a problem maybe but you would want to know. Wheels look OK so probably refurbed already with over 100k miles? Again not a problem if its needed and you budget for it. By coincidence I had a guy completing a SMART repair on another car today and asked what cost if I had a bumper scuff on the ISF (I don't have its mint all round) and he laughed and said "not cheap". He rattled on for ages about it being 3 stage paint, and a pig to blend in. Not to debate the technicals of the paint or advantages or not of SMART repairs but don't assume you can get any chips, scuffs or marks done for a few hundred pounds. And they haven't bothered to hoover the drivers footwell carpet. Well honestly. My top tip would be to ring your local LEXUS dealer with the Reg and ask them if they will warranty it? which they will mine and for a further 2 years beyond the 14 months I got transferred from the previous owner! That's awesome and gave me tremendous confidence to buy. Of course its dependent on Lexus having the service history and maybe seeing the car but as noted you might have problems with the change of plate ?? All that said what's it worth to you ?? Good look . If its not this one then yours maybe out there somewhere else. -
Well eventually I'm an ISF owner and I'm sooooo pleased with it. Collected today from a member here so thanks David @Dave400SE for the opportunity. Great to meet you. I gather its belonged to at least 1 other member too so perhaps I'm just the current custodian of this fine machine. I took the long way home through the Peak District and haven't stopped grinning yet. I didn't stop to take any new photo's either, Doh, but here's a couple of Davids. Its in great condition but I cant resist spending a few ££ to make it the best it can be. Thanks to all you guys on here from which I have leaned so much on my search to find the right one. Love it. Love it. Love it.......or is it "her" ?

Hi there, @C.B @Womble72 or anyone@, did you fathom the contacts transfer into you ISF. I have the same problem with my 09 plate ISF. Bluetooth pairing works OK, calls made and received OK but on transferring contacts as per the instructions it drops the Bluetooth connection and goes no further. Connect back up, try again and sure enough the Bluetooth connection drops out the instant it attempts to download. How did you get on? Thanks Glynn.

Good shout @Peter P18 but these recommendations are starting to cost me ££££ and I haven't even picked up the ISF yet (collect it tomorrow). I noticed the guys at BCS are close to where I live so got a quote for wheel refurb on Monday at £330. On Tuesday I was interested and on Wednesday a 30% off email arrived in my in box. On Saturday I rang and Im booked in at £231 for all 4 wheels. Result. The deal (supposedly ends today) is pay now for the work to be done in January when they are not expecting to be busy and suited me fine. Of course I asked if they would offer similar discount if any forum members were interested and got in touch in the near future and YES They would but don't hang around as he suggested they may have been too generous with the 30%. (30% Applies to Calliper and wheel refurbs). Give them a ring and talk to Marc and mention Owners club forum if you are interested. Full calliper refurb in any colour was £550 before discount by the way. ?? maybe next January for me ?? -
Thanks @NothernDan Im definitely in for a set of rears at the price you can agree Interested in the fronts depending on the price. @Peter P18 found your photo's again now, excellent. To my understanding the area of concern with smoked rear lights it the around the reflector and its ability to effectively reflect. But as the ISF has a remote reflector it shouldn't be an issue. Or is there reflectivity in the smoked light lens anyway ? Will be interesting to see what Mr MOT man thinks. Cheers both.

Looking great in my opinion, but I think the stock wheels look great in black. The lights look great. ............and Orange callipers? Great. What's not to like. -
Who likes this then - I do !
gb1600e replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Well I like it. I would have had one back in the day but not now at £35k as that amount of dosh needs spending on an F. However I can vouch for the 2JZ engine in the front of my IS300 Sportcross for being and sounding great. Its been mildly improved in a few areas Bought as a temporary runabout its lots of fun taking the garden rubbish to the tip (when I go the long way round) and at next to no money its a terrific second / runabout car. -
ISF wide price range
gb1600e replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Yes @Big Rat how the prices vary. As you know I went to look at the 2012 red car In Stoke non franchise dealer reduced to £22.500 recently. (they have had it since June). Mechanically tight but needed paint on nearly every panel so reluctantly I walked away. Im talking to Lexus Edinburgh about the Blue 2012 car and that's £29.995. surfer turned contributor -
Are you a forum stalker?
gb1600e replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I guess I'm a stalker but that sounds negative, A surfer perhaps less so? Im in the market to buy and find the forum a goldmine of info in the search for the right one. Particular thanks to @Big Rat When I buy I'm sure I will move towards contributor but in the mean time I remain an occasional surfer. -
Thank you Lexus Cheltenham
gb1600e replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Yeah, did wonder if it was yours but thought its was so long ago you changed up it must be a different one. Amazing how dealers are prepared to sit it out to maintain the profit. Will PM you for some inside knowledge. -
Thank you Lexus Cheltenham
gb1600e replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Yep, Im loving the orange callipers and it great to see such great feedback about a dealer too. Cheltenham not too far me from relatively speaking and as Lexus Derby couldn't have been less bothered about my interest to buy an ISF I would be happy to travel for great service. I notice a used ISF at Lexus Cheltenham. Was it someone's on here? I guess its on a thread somewhere that Ive missed as I don't get logged on that regular. -
Another Ebay ISF - Anyone know it?
gb1600e replied to Nutey's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
@Big Rat Yes my Blue Mink paint has peeled from the primer too. Apparently all the Silver fox and Blue Mink did that if they didn't completely rot away to dust first. Now a boring it but stick with it......... Mine is a Mk 2 series 1 with the gauges on top of the dash and full chrome Rostyle wheels and yours was a Mk 2 series 2 which had the gauges lower in the dash and steel wheels. A few other differences too, not least front doors are a very slightly different on the leading edge and windscreen apertures 2 mm smaller................ so the art of the facelift not a new thing which links this to this tread. Back to ISF............Granting @Mark G point made about facelift items coming in over time, which I would expect as parts bins run out and or new bits come on line is there any science or timeline to know what to expect? for instance is one thing the last thing to change so if you have that you have it all?? Of course its buyer beware and do the research but are there any other bits to check in a claimed "facelift" model. Should I be searching for another thread on hear that tells all this? -
Another Ebay ISF - Anyone know it?
gb1600e replied to Nutey's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Hi Paul, Yes, my interest in cars does span the decades so you guessed right as I have a 1968 Cortina 1600e, (under restoration) in Blue Mink. Anyone of a certain age will remember those. "back in the day" it belonged to my Granddad so family owned from new and one day it will be hit the road again better than new. For clarity I don't remember it new as was only a child. Im old but not that old. Yours, and other comments on here, as well as being interesting and amusing are the best source of info available which I sure many enjoy reading if not contributing and maybe soon I will be back with a V8. Life is not complete without a V8. For me its all about the colour so not going to alienate myself by declaring my favourite................just yet :-) -
Another Ebay ISF - Anyone know it?
gb1600e replied to Nutey's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I'm in the first stages of looking for an ISF (more at research phase to be honest) and saw this one on ebay before Christmas but it ended without sale. Everyone reading the add in instalments over a number of days and the auction timed out I guess. Its hard work isn't it. It was relisted again this week but I just get the feeling the lady is trying too hard to sell and that made me suspicious. I did wonder about the history though if any knows the car? Very interesting to read what all you knowledgeable guys have to say on this forum by the way. Im sure its going to help me find just the right one. -
Would you believe it. The first hot day of the year and my air con appears not to be working. It only blows hot air no matter what temperature is set on the dial. Any ideas what to look for and check before I visit the garage to rack up a hefty bill. I'm hoping its something simple and you knowledgeable guys out there have been there before. I know Air Con can lose its gas but is there anyway I can easily prove its that or something else? (Only had the car a few months so not sure it ever worked. Thought I checked it but not so sure now)

I had an alarm problem over the weekend with my IS200 Sport which I have only had for a few weeks. After a short trip to the shop and back the alarm went off half a dozen times through the afternoon as it was parked on the drive. Single locked it, double locked it, ignition on / off thinking that might reset something or other, tried anything but after a while it went off again, then again, then again. I was getting quite concerned and heading for the forum until I realised I couldn't find my phone.................................The phone was in the car ! and had half a dozen text messages !........................Coincidence? I put the phone back in the house, locked the car and its been OK ever since. Strange but true. So Where was your phone? Out of respect for the neighbours I didn't try and prove the theory but I will do at some point.

Ian, gutted for you but an IS200 itch never goes away. Having had my own IS200 Sport over 10 years ago, giving it up for a company car, (which I have just lost), I had to have another one. Collect my "new" 51 plate IS200 Sport on Monday. Its in better condition and less miles that the one I sold 10 years ago. Can't wait. Cost less than the half term holiday we just booked too. Half term holidays come and go but Lexus is for ever ??

Hi Paul, Close, first car was a Mk 2 Cortina but not a 1600e although that is the link as I am restoring a blue mink 1967 1600e. I say restoring.....not much work being done on it lately. No rush though its been in the family for 45 years.

More select surely gbh300 although I wouldn't normally consider red myself but its mint inside and out and I was sold on the overall look. The wheels and tyres are brand new on all four corners with the original silver ones showing the signs of usual wear / grot and were replaced for the sale. The spare however is the original and never been out the boot so not sure what that tells me. Being of a certain age myself I might tone down the calipers though! Does it show an owner that was proud of the look they liked, who spent hours taking care of the car or some spotty boy racer? Not sure but as they were clearly painted off the car I guess when the disks were replaced I'm choosing to believe the former. Mind you I'm not indenting to just potter around myself.
