60K Service Done...
Peter P18 replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Interesting Sham. Just did a visual check of mine. No sign of any pink fluid or residue. :) I'll ask them to double check it when it goes in for the next service and recall work though. Just to be safe! :) -
Just checked mine. No sign of any pink fluid or crusting at all thankfully. :) Thanks for the tip though. Good to know.

What year is yours Sully? Think you're the first water pump replacement I've heard of this side of the pond! Mine had no warranty when I bought it unfortunately, so not an option for me. Good peace of mind for those who can have it though. :) -
Hi James. I am running Hawk ceramic pads on the front, Porterfield road pads on the rear. Hawks are a lot less dusty than the OEM pads I had on the car before. You can have them done for a lot less over at Whifbitz in Enfield. Paul Whiffin can handle the purchase through the shop website, Darren will be the mechanic that will do the installation for you. He is a darn sight more reasonable than Lexus in terms of his hourly rate, and the work will be done to a better standard (Darren treats everyone's cars like their his own). Here is the link to the shop: http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/lexus/is-f.html I'd be tempted to go for a full set of the Porterfields. These are very good pads. I had them on my Supra for a while. Really pleased with the bite, longevity, low brake dust etc. I'm sure Paul could offer you a deal for the discs, pads, fitting? Just drop him an email. :) Hope this helps.

Cheers Stu. :) I think the Calipers will look ok chap. ;) Weds are gunmetal, which is the same as my OEM wheels? No need for spacers with the new wheels. ;) they have a wider offset. Will still be doing the coilovers, and carbon vented bonnet with just the vents in carbon (rest will be body colour). Also doing FIGS handling kit and the racing brake 2 piece rotors. :) Just need to rob a bank! Lol.

Cheers chaps. :) Yes, managed to get the airline to check my diffuser as baggage! Lol. Splitters were also from the States, there's a group buy over on their forum. :) Weds are stunning mate! Can't wait to get them over here, and on the car. Thinking Michelin Super Sports for tyres? Tried the new Vredstein's, but only £70 cheaper than the Michelins! :( Sure thing on the H&S Charlie. :) Be around June time hopefully. My stockers will be getting sold indeed. That's my exhaust money! ;)

Hey Guys, So I finally managed to get the car cleaned after my last set of mods. :) I've also added the later LED foglights, although the passenger side unit isn't seated properly! :( Looks like I'll be removing the front bumper again at some point! ;) I've also bought new alloys. :) These are Wedsport SA67R's. They are lighter than the OEM BBS alloys by quite a bit, and it turns out the manufacturer is a subsidiary of Toyota. :) I wasn't going to buy them just yet, but typically they've been discontinued, and I had no choice but to buy the last set in the entire US! Lol. Hoping to get them over with by buddy from Texas in February, but won't be on the car till May or June when I get my bonus from work. I'll be running bigger tires, so my refurbished BBS and Vredstein's will be up for grabs. Then it's H&S exhaust time! ;) I also added the matching black HPS radiator hoses. These are from the same firm as my intake hose. Let me know what you think. Cheers. Peter :)

Hi Lloyd, Secondary cats can be gutted or removed without any CEL issues. The Borla aftermarket exhaust system for example, removes these and the resonator pipe without any issues. Only the primary cats in the headers are monitored electronically by O2 sensors (there are 4 in total, 2 before the primary cats, 2 after). This is why headers such as PPE and Sikky come with an O2 conditioner to prevent CEL issues after they are installed. Removing the secondary cats and resonator will increase the sound, and free up a few more horsepower. You shouldn't have any issues with CEL's. My next mod will be the same H&S system Stuno and others are running, but I am removing the secondary cats as well. :) One issue over here is the MOT test now requires all cars to have the same number of cats fitted as they did when they were manufactured. This will be a visual inspection, but I can't see how the testers will know how many our cars had when they were built? Provided the tailpipe test passes on emissions, I don't think it will cause a problem. Something to check/consider though. Best of luck with the mods! Car looks lovely. :) Cheers. Peter

Lexus Recall
Peter P18 replied to sofasurfer's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Not necessarily mate. I'd call the helpline number to be sure if I was you. Your local dealer should also be able to tell you if your car is affected. Could just be a glitch with your VIN. -

Details, details! Lol. ;) Makes me laugh when Lexus dealers don't even know what they are selling! :) -

Apexi Throttle Controller Fitted...

Glad you're liking it Stu. :) Agree it offers a nice middle ground between the normal and sports modes. Less pedal travel is a real plus I find. Normal mode seems like forever before it wakes up! ;) It doesn't seem to affect fuel consumption too much either? The blank location for the switch was a big selling point for me as well. Didn't want it stuck down somewhere with double sided tape! ;) -
You'll notice almost every image is of the front end. ;) I'm a fan of the front too. The rear end however doesn't look right at all! :( Saw one in San Francisco yesterday. Great from the front, ok from the side, fugly from the rear! Be interesting to know what parts can crossover to the ISF! ;) I'd like the seats and engine! Lol. Hopefully we can do some real everyday comparison tests one day. Thats once I've done my coilovers and proper LSD mind! ;)

It's all relative in my opinion. If you are willing to spend the cash on an IS-F, you can achieve more power than the RC-F, and get better handling as well. Just read the article on the RC-F in 'Car and Driver'. Didn't realise it weighs 4048 pounds. That's over 200 more than the IS-F. They go on to say with all the data crunched, the RC-F proves to be no quicker than the IS-F. Hate to say it, but the BMW M4 beats it hands down in most tests. :( I'm also not a fan of its Frankenstein origins. Apparently Lexus used the front of the GS, the middle is IS C convertible, and the rear end is normal IS saloon. I'm hoping for greater things from the GS-F which will be the hi power four door IS-F replacement. Be interesting to see what you chaps think of your test days though. :)
