Finger in the air time!
Stuno1 replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Have a stab! Guess depreciation on a 30k rcf 2015 MY with 20k miles over the next 3 years with low mileage (4K per year) being added. -
Aye, running costs are not a massive concern. People complain about the weight of the Rc-f but it is identical to the c63 coupe! Some sites have it heavier and some lighter but very similar. Depreciatuon ia the main main concern as this car will be the basis for the next car and so on. If I can get an rc-f and lose 3k-4K over 3 years I’d be happy with that. The Evora was exceptional but not without issues. I had a 2013 s sr. - held value very well. - handling and steering feel is epic, truly epic. Soaks up bumps yet doesn’t roll, and steering feedback is exemplary but not tiring. - the looks, well let’s just say it gets lots of attention all the time. Folks taking pictures and filming it still and while driving. - not epically fast, same as the isf if not a touch slower. Lots of tubing potential if you have deep pockets. - interior is nice but frankly cheaply put together when you really scrutinise it. Ford parts, plastics, some ooor fitting events to the cabin. Hopefully purchase by geely will improve this a great deal. - sounded great but needed an exhaust and they are not cheap. The Larini back box I bought transformed the car but was 1400 fitted. - servicing was not too expensive. It’s a Toyota after all. Similar to the isf. - parts availability is not good at all and the car can be off the road for a month or two if a part is on back order. Hopefully the recent purchase by geely will sort this. - the paint on the metal mesh grills on the exterior flakes and rusts so needs attention each year. I had s small fault with the tpms reading wrong tyres. - infotainment is alpine aftermarket and works but sound is poor. Overall I loved it but prefer more luxury in my cars. Hence looking at Lexus again. Then hopefully Aston v8vs. Happy to have a chat or answer any questions chap.

Good guess. In one year? I guess if it gets pranged it would be! -

Absolutely. Sat in one on a few meets when I was back in the isf and the rcf is a big step up from the isf. Question then becomes rcf or isf and watch I want to buy!!! Oh first world problems. -
True but lower mileage tends to mean less wear on things like switch gear and seats, fewer body marks etc etc if I can get and rcf that may be the route to go down having owned a isf already. I did really want a c63 amg coupe but depreciation makes it a potentially silly purchase, even if I pick one up 5/6 years old for 25k ish. Just too many of them about.

Ah ok. Makes sense given how well received it was. So maybe from a financial stance the isf is the better bet. ill be keepin an eye on both over the next 12 months. -
How much depreciation is left in the rcf’s? With examples now down to 30k they are touching the isf. Assume the my will both continue to fall or the isf market which is strong will prop up rcf prices. Stu

Looks like forza driving! Cheeky little nudge.

I sold my Evora late last year ready to buy a house this year and this time next year will be looking for a cheapish car for a few years that won’t lose too much £££. I bought and sold my previous isf for the same money 2 years in and 10k mikes later. Are values still holding well? I’d be looking at a later car this time around. Ideally 2013, low miles etc. I am liking the c63amg coupe but residuals don’t seem too clever! Even on a 5 year old low mileage example. Stu

Is F Exhaust Comparison
Stuno1 replied to Dave McDave's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Someone on the forum messaged me about it and said the wheels are in need of a refurb but more worryingly the front bumper has some gaps so looks like it may have been involved in a shunt. This may be a small thing but you never know. The interior looks pretty abused to be honest. You cant really bring abused seats back to life unless you you re-trim. Also,if someone is willing to let a mint car get into this state what else will you find? It has not been cared for so I would not buy it back. -

It was good, actually pristine and great, under my care but seems to have fallen from grace and is at best very well used now. I wouldn’t buy it in its current state. Sad to see a great example so badly cared for. -
Rc-f's Taken A Big Hit!
Stuno1 replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
To a point I agree but you can buy sensibly. My money in one car funds the next. I bought and sold my isf for the same price after almost 3 years of ownership. I sold my Evora at a 2k loss over 2 years of ownership and o believe an m3 e92 will have little loss as well. Clearly I modified my cars and that was a sunk cost . Its important to have fun but decisions can still be made to minimise losses while maintolaonit fun factor. -

.... and this is the main reason I would never buy one. You will always lose money one one no matter what price you buy at because there is such little demand for them. -
Pretty much what I did. Filter price, driven wheels, performance etc and see what pops up

Great post chap. The throttle actuators are an early model issue but the brakes may still not be ideal. Alternative discs and pads may surfice but I have heard they are not great in stock form. I am after cars with 30k ish or less but will definitely check history now as white is the colour I am after. Seen all the comments about torque but I don't mind and actually enjoy doing it. It's the joy of the engine. Bluethhunder - not driven one and to be honest I am not sure I will. I am not sold on the looks and think re-sale will be a ball ache either selling privately taking ages or taking a massive hit on trade in. I think the m3 e92 coupe with competition pack will hold its value really well and is always in demand. Also, the e92 can be mapped to get an extra 20hp, sharper throttle and de limit it. You can also upgrade the box to the latest version making it shift more quickly. Both will only cost 1k.
-
I am seriously considering an e92 m3 coupe with competition pack having decided the c63 is too heavy, gear box gets a lot of bad press for being slow and unpredictable and the rear tyres are too narrow to lay down the torque. The 2013 model year seems to be a great car. I was wondering if anyone had driven one and compare it the rcf? Main attraction of the BMW for me is it's B road and track potential. Also the dct box seemed good. Stu

Too techy for most inimagine. Great for petrol heads though.

Rc-f's Taken A Big Hit!
Stuno1 replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
We all believed the RC would bring the IS in to popular view but it didn't happen. Lexus would need an M3, golf gti like success with a model to make people sit up and listen. I just done see it happening. Personally that's one of the things I like about the brand. It's rarity for the owners. Inagree big capacity cars will become the sought after models in years to come although I was reading something about turbo cars not performing as expected in terms of emissions so manufacturers may start favouring N/A cars again in the future. I cant wait to see what the LCf will be like. I assume there will be one. -
Slight front seat rocking/knock?
Stuno1 replied to Toothy's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Mine did this and Lexus Woodford checked it over and said the seat rails were tight enough and there was nothing they could do. -

Demand will definitely come in at that price as it's a huge amount of car for the money and age and depreciation will be minimal at that stage. I am only looking to own my next car for 2 years so at current prices I don't think it makes sense. I'll certainly drive on with and who knows that may change my mind.
